1. Turkish settlers in North Cyprus?
Danny ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.23.12)
I don't know why an Israeli diplomats don't bring this up more often....
2. NO, NO and NO !!!
FO ,   Belgium   (03.23.12)
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed the UN's decsion, calling the council "hypocritical." "This is a hypocritical council with an automatic majority against Israel," Netanyahu said. "Until today, the council has made 91 decisions, 39 of which dealt with Israel, three with Iran," he said. Mr. Netanyahu, this is NOT a valuable argument. The problem with you is, that for some reason, a reason that for a long time already I'm looking for an explanation, you Mr. Prime Minister obstinately refuse to provide Israel's Legal International Rights to settle in the area between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, including the Golan Heights. Forget about the UN partition of 1947 that had no legal value and therefor was not binding. Forget about the 1949 Green Cease-Fire Line that is not a border. Israel's right to settle in the above mentioned area was given by an unanimous vote by all the 51 members of the League of Nations in 1922. A vote that gave the Jews an IRREVOCABLE RIGHT recognized in INTERNATIONAL LAW, unaltered to this day, and reaffirmed by Article 8O of the CHARTER of the UNITED NATIONS. Why Mr. Netanyahu are you silent about these facts ???
3. We slam Turkey's invation and occupation of N Cyprus!
EST ,   Miami FL   (03.23.12)
We slam the genocide of Armenians by Turkey. We slam the repressive Turkish forces against minorities in Turkey...look at the kurds. We slam the pompous posturing of a government official so hungry for international recognition that he is willing to become a buffoon in the political landscape of the world...
4. Turkish Settlements in Cyprus
DavidM ,   USA   (03.23.12)
Mr. Erdogan and his regime spokesman are hypocrites. His army occupies much of Cyprus and expelled the Christian population. They have no business lecturing Israel or anyone else about settlements. They have also never even acknowledged their genocide against Armenia.
5. as if we give a shit about what turkey has to say
ronen   (03.23.12)
6. Turkey the biggest phony of them all
Sidney ,   USA   (03.23.12)
Their Syrian brethren are being slaughtered and they wont even give the rebels weapons. They instead talk tough about Israel where it doesn't matter.
7. Turkey
Simon ,   London, UK   (03.23.12)
Turkish settlers leave peacefully. They dont attack the south of the Island, killing their neigbours crops. They dont try and steal more land from their neighbours. They dont force their neighbours to live a ghetto. When the UNHRC complain about Israel - its cause there is something to complain about. Whingeing to the rest of the world that you feel hard done by does you no favours. Make amends.
8. 1
anton ,   Istanbul   (03.23.12)
2 wrong dont make a right, but ofc if you can accept yours is wrong ;)
9. irrelevant
mehrdad ,   germany   (03.23.12)
the turkish islamic regime is irrelevant for israel and the western world. israel can go on with the energy plans and the hamas blocade and if turkey tries to interrupt the gas exploration or to break the hamas blocade this turkish facists will get the correct answer from the IDF. turkey is a unimportant little paper tiger with huge economical problems and zero friends in the region.
10. He who points his finger at Israel....
Galut ia ,   Selah   (03.23.12)
Had better make very sure his house is squeaky clean
11. Islam is absolutely bankrupt
sk ,   USA   (03.23.12)
It does nothing about the THOUSANDS killed Muslims vs. Muslims in Iran and since the Arab Spring started, it does nothing when Control Freaks Muslim despots abuse the Muslim civilians and despite having over 99.9% of Middle East land, Islam does nothing to promote peace with it's tiny neighbor that sits on less than 0.02% of ME land. No, it's not about land. The problem is the intolerance, hatred, religious bigotry and belligerence that are symptomatic of this Culture of Death!
12. this is stupid danny #1
achmad ,   bil'iln   (03.23.12)
so you compare the the cyprus case with the israel-palestine case?
13. Jews are legally allowed to settle in Judea - fact.
Doug ,   Wales   (03.23.12)
Referring to the 'West Bank' by its correct title of Judea puts these issues in some form of context. But ethnically cleansing Jews from Judea doesn't quite sound right. It reminds the world and Turkey that Judea is the land of the Jews, and it emphasises the Jewish heritage spanning thousands of years. Embedded within the Mandate and the San Remo peace accord is a legal right for Jews to settle in Judea. There does not exist a single legally enforcable document or procedure that has revoked this right, or can revoke this right. International law is being misinterpreted and spun for the expedience of the goals within the Arab and Islamic world. These entities predicate any future state of Palestine, upon the ethnic cleansing of all Jews from Judea/'West Bank' as part of the Arab 'plan of phases'. To those hostile to the existence of Jews in Judea, even Jerusalem is seen as a 'settlement', as is the State of Israel itself. No Jewish state will be acceptable to the Arab and Islamic world, irrespective of size or borders. Many areas of ancient Jewish land, extending to the West Bank of the Euphrates (not the Jordan), plus areas of Sinai, Gaza, Judea, Jordan etc. are occupied by Arabs at this time. Yet the world ignores the Arab occupation of ancient Jewish land, just as it ignores the calls for an Islamic caliphate across the region and further afield. Then we have the issue of the Turkish occupation of Cyprus, and Turkish settlements there. Not forgetting the Kurdish issue. But, again, the world does not want to be reminded of such 'problematic' facts.
14. Turkish ignorance of San Remo/Mandate.
Jane ,   UK   (03.23.12)
The “Mandate for Palestine,” an historical League of Nations document, laid down the Jewish legal right to settle anywhere in western Palestine, between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, an entitlement unaltered in international law. Any attempt to negate the Jewish people’s right to Palestine—Eretz-Israel, and to deny them access and control in the area designated for the Jewish people by the League of Nations is a serious infringement of international law. Turkey's genocide of the Armenians, and its occupation of Cyprus where it expelled the Christians following its invasion, seem to be lost on the Turkish foreign minister. Knowledge of foreign affairs doesn't seem to be his strong point.
15. No 'settlements' from 1948-67. Still no peace.
Steve ,   Great Britain   (03.23.12)
If the so-called "settlements" are obstructing the so-called "peace process", why was there no peace during the 19 year Arab occupation of the same areas from 1948-67? Why was the PLO created in 1964 when the Arabs already occupied the disputed areas? Why did the original text of the PLO covenant in 1964 make no claim whatsoever to the 'West Bank' or Gaza? Why did the original text of the PLO covenant in 1964 recognise the sovereignty of the Arab occupation of these areas by Jordan and Egypt? The only area targeted for 'liberation' by the PLO being Israel itself. And the text of the PLO covenant only being rewritten to include a claim to the disputed territories, after the Six Day War of 1967, when the Arabs needed a reason to get them back. The Arab League and the PLO suddenly deciding that a humanitarian and self-determination agenda was necessary to delude the international community away from the true goals being pursued. Before that, they had a far more candid approach and demanded openly that the Jews be tossed into the sea. The world is no longer deluded and the real purposes behind such statements from Turkey and the UN itself are transparent.
16. yossi beilin dovotogolu and big mouth erdogan
mohson   (03.23.12)
erdogan who is as gutless as they come as syrain alawites butcher 10,000 sunni moslem cousins and as erdgoan butchers his kurds, h e has the gall to criticize israel homeland redevelopment. Well you know what, half the turkish people like the iranian people are friends of israel. the arabs of turkey like erdogans wife and ahmadinejad of iran hate israel and stoke the fires of hatred. dovotogolu like beilin is an academic whose predictions are useless and thank god israel did not permanently deal based on his proposals. the zero policy of turkey is real because its leadership is zero even if they say the right moselme code words. so shut up you turkish rearends whose country is hated by greece, france, syria, germany, cyprus and now israel. Go to hell with your turkish baths and heroin smuggling. ataturk is rolling in his grave.
17. Antisemites are THE obstruction to the peace process!
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (03.23.12)
Time and again Davootogloo Effendi has proved, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that his stance goes much, much farther than a mere political opposition. It goes deep down to the core of a blatantly antisemitic behavior, for no matter what Israel do and/or do not, he always cries, wails, screams against it! There's a old folk saying here in Latin America: "se hay gobierno, soy contra" - if there's a gonvernment, I'm against it. Mutatis mutandis, it is the case with Davootogloo Effendi: if it comes from Israel, it's bad and I'm against it! What a disgrace!
18. "Turkey slams settlements". Do you really care at this point
leo ,   usa   (03.23.12)
what Turkey does not like about Israel. You might as well report that PA slams settlements.
19. Davutoglu, for my hearing to improve you need to get out
leo ,   usa   (03.23.12)
of Cyprus first. There are much more things you can do that can make my hearing better still, but Cyprus would be good start.
20. so said the Turks
(03.23.12)
and than bombed another Kurdish "rebel" stronghold killing 22 (this week)...treatened to annex Cyprus...while still denying they committed a genocide against Armenians..
21. No apologies. West Bank is part of Jewish homeland
Sam ,   Canada   (03.23.12)
The West Bank is part of the Jewish homeland and unlike the Palestinians the majority of Jews would sacrifice part of it for peace. The Palestinians also consider the West Bank and Israel to be their homeland but they reject giving Jews anything. It's about time people stopped crying for the selfish Palestinians who create rampant terror to try and scare everybody.
22. PERFECTLY SCRIPTED AND PLANNED
Brant ,   Hilton Head USA   (03.23.12)
Is anyone, anywhere naive enough to have believed that, after failing to get their bifurcated, two semi-governments that hate each other within one entity "Palestine",l recognized as a State by the UN, that these serial absusers of the UN would not execute a persistent and dogged plan to hurt, shame, embarrass, decry , delegitimate and destroy Israel in any way possible? And, on top of that, enage the Turks and Pan Arab and Pan islamic "leadership" in it? Ity's perfect. The players are perfect! The Arab League has always and still wishes to fight the Jews to the last Palestinian so, expect daily mock shock and "outrage" from all the League's members. The UN will be the willing puppet in all of this because the "Palestinians" somehow remain their "cause celebre". It's Einstein's definition of Insanity and it works. It prevents Israel from settling the score after decades of hate and terror. It forces the West to be "even-handed" so that a Jewish child sliced to bits by a terrorists nail bomb is made equal to an Arab child who is killed when Israel takes out a Hamas weapons guy who delightfully keeps his kids and his rockets in his back yard. Brace yourself Israel. And don;t give in. If you left 100% of the West Bank today, they'd be after the rest of it tomorrow.
23. Israeli ID
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (03.23.12)
Did you ask those with Israeli ID what they would prefer
24. Turkish economy: correction
Serif ,   Turkey   (03.23.12)
Turkey's economy grew an average of 6.0% per year from 2002 through 2007--one of the highest sustained rates of growth in the world. During this period, inflation and interest rates fell significantly, the currency stabilized, and government debt declined to more supportable levels (39.5% of GDP in 2008).
25. Pals had a state in 1948 - they rejected it and declared war
Steven Gilbert ,   Teaneck   (03.23.12)
Now they want one? Really? Then why do they want to settle their hundreds of thousands of "refugees" in Israel and not in their future state (Right of Return)? Answer: They are more concerned with destroying Israel than establishing and building their own state and living peacefully alongside Israel! Since 1948, there's been no change on their part. Israel has chosen progress; Arabs have chosen violence and squalor.
26. One Word: Cyprus
JS ,   USA   (03.23.12)
27. Typical Muslim country - sell out an ally for radical Islam
David ,   Israel   (03.23.12)
28. To #24: economic growth ≠ democracy and rule of law
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (03.23.12)
In Germany, the Nazis built the most modern roads of their time; in Mussolini's Italy, the trains always run strictly on schedule; in Stalin's USSR, it was developed one of the hugest heavy industries system in the world. So what? Nothing erases the fact that all there regimes were despicable dictatorships, the most vile, cruel and inhumane the world has ever seen. In Turkey, today, we see a very thinly disguised Islamic regime, wrapped in the formalities of a democracy, but that's all; there's no democracy in your country, no rule of law, and there's never have been.
29. @ 12 Achmad
Danny ,   Tel Aviv   (03.23.12)
All I am saying is that there are Turkish settlers, who moved in after Cypriots left. Not saying I'm against it, but that it exists. Is that stupid?
30. @ # 8 Anton
Danny ,   Tel Aviv   (03.23.12)
I never said I condemn Turkish settlements, as I don't condemn Israelis in Judea and Samaria either.....just showing that Jews are not the only examples of "settlers" and thinking that this is true is naive, very naive.
