1. Enough about Shalit he's not a war hero
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (03.28.12)
You would think he's Lt .Gen. Chesty Puller USMC or Audie Murphy. If you want to discuss Israel he's not Meir Har Zion.He didn't do anything heroic or save another life.Gee all that happened is that he was carried off into captivity by hama
2. Hm
Jewish Patriot ,   Galut   (03.28.12)
Hm not sure when the pic was taken, but I hope he is getting better, he still seems very very slim and kind of stressed. I hope he gets better as soon as he can.
3. so happy 2 read that this family will b 2gether 4 passover!

Haim ,   TA   (03.28.12)
How could you possibly understand what this meant to the people of Israel.
5. @1, Need a tape measure?
mea   (03.28.12)
Why on earth would some backwater yahoos believe his opining from the grasslands has anything to do with this issue is a mystery. Next time you get the urge to spew forth, try to resist.
6. To #4
MJ   (03.28.12)
Is not even worth to answer this type of comments. What does he know about loving his own and suffering as ONE family as we Jewish people are?

Shlomo   (03.28.12)
You said it so well. Gillad was captured after he fell asleep. Look at his picture-he is not the sharpest knife in the draw. He should just be passed over.
8. # 1 Rod
jacob ,   nyc   (03.28.12)
If you had half a brain you would be dangerous . What a foolish and stupid thing to say. THINK NEXT TIME.
9. Gilad's Pesach
NEWYORKONE   (03.28.12)
Every year, my family left an empty seat by the seder table for Gilad. This year we will not have an empty seat, but we will remember, and if Gilad is ever in New York, he is welcome at our table.
10. Celebrate the Life of Roi Klein
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (03.28.12)
Who gave his life for others
11. A simple question.....
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (03.28.12)
Is his family going to say Boruch HaShem? I hope they will.
12. "We have no holidays"
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (03.28.12)
What kind of statement is that??? A normal Jewish family celebrates Pesach no matter what.....they should have set up a place for Gild at the table.....just as thousands of households did during those years he was in captivity.

sunshine ,   Germany   (03.28.12)
How often did you survive 5 years in captivity of your enemies? It was heroic from Gilad to go through these hard years without any connection to his family and friends. A young man, just a teenage boy resisting his terroristic enemies for 5 long years. In my eyes he is a real hero and I hope he will recover and overcome his traumatic experiences.
14. I have a suggestion:
(03.29.12)
Leave the poor guy alone, get him out of the spotlight and let him get his life back on track,

Actually, I think the Israeli media has been great in keeping Gilad out of the limelight after his father asked for this. Surprisingly, there aren't crazy paps shoving cameras in his face wherever he goes and I am proud of our media for honoring this family's wishes. Wishing him and kol am yisrael a happy and peaceful Passover.
16. It pettition come true - Gilat Shalit

18. Rod you have a lot to learn
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (03.29.12)
Shalit is a hero because he managed to stay alive for five years Next point, look up the meaning of two simple words "PIDYON SHEVUIM" that should be within your limited abiltiy to think
19. Gilad was no hero but he became one
Nora Tel Aviv   (03.29.12)

20. I Didn't Mean To Recommend Talkback #7...
Nicole Czarnecki ,   B'HaGalut   (03.31.12)
Shlomo and Rod, any IDF servicemember-- with the few-and-far-in-between exception-- is a hero.
21. Yes, he's a hero, thank G-d he's home
Joel Coen ,   Fargo, N. Dakota   (03.30.12)
Rod, POWs who have survived horrible treatment are war heroes. Would you criticize survivors of the Hanoi Hilton or Bataan Death March with similar callousness? Thank G-d Gilad is home and safe with his family. I hope they have a very joyous and peaceful Passover.
