1. "Human rights Commission" 1984 Newspeak that Orwell would
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (03.27.12)
envy. It is run by human rights abusers where Ghaddafi's human rights record was recently applauded and where the Syrian ambassador could without fear of contradiction blame Assads butchery on Israel.
2. what they did not
daniela ,   panama   (03.27.12)
understand is that Israel has nothing to explain regarding the settlements in Yehudah and Shomron. In a world were 300 miles north from the settlements the siryan dictator is killing daily dozens of his own people and the UN Human Rights are looking the other side, what Israel should say? The only word that come to my mind would be: HYPOCRITES.
3. I mean, come on UN HRC - Dozens are killed in Syria everyday
Amos   (03.27.12)
and you're talking about a comittee about Israeli settelments.. come on! is that human rights or Arabs rights?
4. We all know how thae land was stollen and given to the sette
Yossi the normal Jew   (03.27.12)
Most Isralies know that we stole land from the Palestinians and give it to the settelers, so what is the cry about? When I was in the army I saw it
5. Not understandable how the UN & EU not stopped.
BUTSeriously ,   Australia   (03.27.12)
These groups have descended to such evils they are causing the same horrors witnessed last century. There is no one to confront these orgs - that is the problem.
6. HRC is one sick joke
Canadian lawyer ,   Toronto, Canada   (03.27.12)
Israel is absolutely right to cut off contact with those losers. Let them pile one anti-Israel resolution after another. Who cares?
7. Human rights cOuncil
Vs ,   New York   (03.27.12)
The UN just can't get over their obsession with Israel...let the massacre continue in Syria and Sudan and other Islamic countries ... No need for humanitarian attention there... Anyway, who needs the HRC...good riddance to them
8. The NERVE these UN doers have!!
Israeli 2   (03.27.12)
"It is in Israel's interest to cooperate with the Council, so it can explain its policy and actions to the representatives appointed to the commission of inquiry..."??? This statement is insulting and Israel needs to slap them hard. Israel needs no explaining. However...they will continue being UNmannerly until Israel will show its teeth and implement its Transfer policy immediately.
9. The UNHCR
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (03.27.12)
Violate the UN Charter on a routine basis when it comes to Israel. So does the rest of the UN - we are not allowed to be a member in most of the bodies of the UN which is contrary to the UN Charter. But racists have no problem ignoring international laws and charters when it comes to attacking us.
10. It is but one manifestation of world's obsession with Jews.
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.27.12)
No other explanation for the unbearable ease with which people/nations that should know better, have accepted the "Palestinian narrative" -in the age of Internet of all things! The World Citizen doesn't mind wasting hundreds of hours on airport security, being patted down, and paying for all that, as long as he/she can blame the Jew....
11. To 4# not normal. The land was won by
Dyslexic.... ,   Israel..   (03.27.12)
war.If it had gone the other way and the Arabs had won the war,you would not be were you are too day.So dont be so eager to criticize we had no choice pal.I dont like those settlers they are violent people with no respect for the law.My kibbutz was divided up during the 6 day war amongst my Arab neighbors,we found the maps.So act normal this is our reality pal.
12. Israel's decision very '''regrettable
tiki ,   belgium   (03.27.12)
Depends for who. The whipping boy stops participating and tells the unHuman noRights bunch to 'shove it and find themselves some other idiot to harass.
13. Everyone finds himself an angle
Jimi ,   Palestine/ramallah   (03.27.12)
No one admits his faults. If others are wrong, copying their behaviour is wrong also. Settlements are the critical and main issue that prevents any peacefull solution. They are destroying all oprions and driving the israeli people and state into extremely dangerous future if there will be a future. Wake up and admit your wrong direction. Stop it and maoe peace
14. Jimi Turn up to negotiations instead of evading them,
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (03.27.12)
expecting to get borders by demanding them up front as a condition for negotiations speaks for itself You know full well the PA has made promises to their people for decades that will never be accepted by Israel because national suicide is not an option. So your refugees " winning card" is your losing hand. Aside from that Hamas & Iran their sponsor, make it publicly clear that peace is off the table Settlements are an excuse not to negotiate because you have no peace to deliver
15. Israeli officials behave like children !
Maher ,   UK   (03.27.12)
Israeli officials behave like children. If they have nothing to hide and can defend what they are doing to the Palestininans why they don't cooperate? But it's not the first time Israeli officials show the world how they like to deal with issues- negatively and based on the psycho-complex that all the world against them. Also killing in Syria and before by Ghadafi, does not justify the unfair treatment of the Palestinians and preventing their basic human needs and basic human rights, perhaps they will boycott me too and will not allow me in israel as i am saying this hope ynet will purplish this.
16. # 15
(03.27.12)
It doesn't matter if they cooperate or not, UNHCR will come to the conclusion that fits 'their' interest. In 1999 in Kosovo, according to the report of OSCE observers there was no actual humanitarian catastrophe. NATO anyhow decided that it is better to say that there is humanitarian catastrophe so that they would have an excuse for the intervention. And that's what happened. Then the real humanitarian catastrophe begun. No matter what is the real situation on the settlements, opinion of foreign observers is shaped by "other" interest... Maybe not allowing them to sniff around would hold them for a while of making any decisions...
17. Maher juvenile naivete. Nothing to hide frrom uprejudiced
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (03.27.12)
observers. If you can accept these clowns applauding Gaddafis human rights, you will be delighted with a UN HRC "investigation". The same crowd that allowed the Goldstone inquisition, where they set the paramaters of the enquiry to examine "Israels war crimes" NOT to see if any had been commited. Then they got the right people for the job. Those who announced Israels guilt BEFORE they began. Your type of enquiry.? Why not get Argentina to investigate the Falklands war? Ireland to investigate" the troubles" using the same conditions?
18. to Jimi, #13 -You got it wrong
Ted ,   UK   (03.27.12)
Really? how can you explain then the 20years between 48-67, when there were NO settlements...why there was NO peace?? I'll tel you why. because for you people even Tel-Aviv and Haifa are considered settlements...am I wrong? the real problem is your education system which is full of incitement and demonization of the jewish people...change this and you'll see that peace is achievable wihtin one generation..
19. Jimi 13
Irma   (03.27.12)
I can't understand what the discusion is about, israel won the war in 67 the winner sets his rules. Has anyone protested what the Russians have annexed after the WW 2? But also how many people were dispaced & there are no refugees anymore & they din't get any hands out.
20. No 15 You are talking through your backside
Emma ,   London   (03.27.12)
Can you give me precise, independently corroborated (not Palestinian propaganda) of just what the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians? Bet you can't. How are they denying them their basic human rights? Their economy is growing, they have acess to good health and education, their biggest problem is obesity not starvation. They are not being shot in cold blood. And for your information the UNHCR is negatively biased against Israel. The fact that they praised Gadaffi's human rights records says what a corrupt organisation it is, the fact they are doing nothing about what is happening in Syria does not speak well about them. No-one is justifying anything but you cannot ignore what is happening in Arab countries because it does not fit with your narrative. What you are basically sayins is colonialistic and imperalistic, that you should not expect anything better from the Arabs because they know no better. I see you live in the UK where you have been inundated with Palestinian propaganda so I don't expect you to know any better. Also the Brits are shit scared about standing up to Muslims in case they get blown up. Have you been to Luton recently? Not pretty. And that is going to be replicated throughout the UK in the not too distant future, I hope you enjoy living there. You see Ynet did publish your comments, inane and uninformed as they are, because Israel is a real democracy unlike the Arab countries that you revere so much.
21. Escort the HRC to the Syrian border
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (03.27.12)
not too far, maybe 250 km from Lod. There can they find really serious human rights problems.
22. Which country does Dan Shapiro represent?
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas   (03.27.12)
The answer is clear to the world.
23. For over 60 years we have played by the fascists' rules
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (03.27.12)
Now it the time to say no more. Since the rules are fixed against us and we aren't even allowed to defend ourselves it's way past time we told them to fuck off and die already.
24. To #22: Which country do YOU represent?
Canadian lawyer ,   Toronto, Canada   (03.27.12)
Clearly not the USA because the US representative on the Human Rights Council was the only one who had the good sense (and moral fiber) to vote against the resolution. Does it kill you that your own country's representatives are taking sensible and moral positions?
25. #4 - Jews are known to be good as lawyers
William ,   Israel   (03.27.12)
You're not as good. Infact, you seem to be satisfied with narrow incidents devoid of context and blissful ignorance of Intl Law, previous Intl resolutions and conventions governing the land, and the ethnic cleansing of your brethren. Infact, it would seem that you've closed your entire mind off to a myriad of factual information in order to sustain a person opinion about a complex situation and present it as a fact. There is a psychological ailment for such a phenomenon. Lucky for you, Jews are good at psychology, too.
26. #13 - it wasn't an issue in 1994 during Oslo Accords
William ,   Israel   (03.27.12)
and the "Palestinians" willfully signed that agreement. It wasn't an issue in 2000 either when Arafat launched his terror campaign. Nor in the Taba Accords and the follow-up negotiations in Sharm El-Sheik. Settlements only became an issue when the PLO ran out of things to argue about. They even demanded a freeze and received one for 10-months, and pissed that away quickly. But the item that was ALWAYS on the agenda in negotiations was Israel's security (a final end to the war and no more demands) and Israel as a Jewish State (with legitimacy). And each time, Arabs rejected it. This is the real obstacle to peace. Legally, the settlements are acceptable as they're sitting on private and public land that was stolen from Israel and cleansed of Jews in 1949, which is a war crime. It's about time the Arabs acknowledge this crime, in order to move forward.
27. #15 - Maher - what are the human rights being violated?
William ,   Israel   (03.27.12)
Please tell what are the human rights and human needs of the "Palestinians" that are being violated by Israel. I'd love to hear it.
28. #24 - legally, #22 represents NO country
William ,   Israel   (03.27.12)
because there isn't any sovereign entity called Palestine and there never was ever.
29. "understandable" to some not good enough.
ESaenz   (03.29.12)
Israel should be able to defend its stance on any issue to have it understood and accepted. Otherwise, everyone involved, even the USA, is jeopardized.
