and the "Palestinians" willfully signed that agreement. It wasn't an issue in 2000 either when Arafat launched his terror campaign. Nor in the Taba Accords and the follow-up negotiations in Sharm El-Sheik. Settlements only became an issue when the PLO ran out of things to argue about. They even demanded a freeze and received one for 10-months, and pissed that away quickly. But the item that was ALWAYS on the agenda in negotiations was Israel's security (a final end to the war and no more demands) and Israel as a Jewish State (with legitimacy). And each time, Arabs rejected it. This is the real obstacle to peace. Legally, the settlements are acceptable as they're sitting on private and public land that was stolen from Israel and cleansed of Jews in 1949, which is a war crime. It's about time the Arabs acknowledge this crime, in order to move forward.
