It is not possible to predict how long any strike by Israel would set back Iran's nuclear weapon ambitions. The strike itself may only set back the potential for Iran to develop nuclear weapons by many months to a few years, but a strike and followup attacks, along with continued punitive sanctions might cause Iran's leadership to give up nuclear ambitions entirely, or even bring about regime change when it is demonstrated that the Iran government cannot protect its own people.. A military analysis like this only addresses physical damages, not other changes that might occur as a result.
