It's not exactly a great big secret that an Israeli pre-emptive strike against Iran -- which has threatened to "wipe Israel from the map" for over thirty years -- will be met with an Iranian strike against a U.S. asset, probably a U.S. navy ship in the Gulf. But that would be the U.S.'s problem, not Israel's. Israel cautioned and warned the United States against attacking Iraq after Iraq invaded Kuwait. Did the United States listen? Did the United States care that Iraqi SCUDs would be launched against Israel in retaliation? No. The United States told Israel to suck it up and do the best it could. Sure enough, SCUDs were launched against Israel and, against Israel's better judgment, we sucked it up and did not retaliate. Well -- the United States can take the benefit of its "advice." Suck it up. If the Iranians retaliate against a U.S. asset -- they are FAR too cowardly to retaliate against Israel, knowing what will come -- our advice to the U.S. is "suck it up." What goes around, comes around. The U.S. can reap the benefit of its advice to Israel back in the Gulf War. Never mind the fact that the Gulf War in 1991 was a very different animal thanks to Israel's destruction of Iraq's nuclear reactor (despite strong American protest and resultant sanctions). Suck it up, U.S. Suck it up. Hey -- isn't that exactly what YOU told US to do? Pretty good advice, don't you think? Take a deep breath. Israel is not going to trust its future -- or existence -- to empty United States promises. Suck it up, U.S. Israel's existential concerns are Israel's business, and as for the U.S. -- well -- let the pieces fall where they may. Suck it up.

What happened to the America that defeated enemy after enemy in WW1and WW2? USA defeated Nazi Germany, Italy and Japan during WW2 and now USA has troubles to fight the taliban in Afghanistan. I doubt the USA will ever attack Iran because the US leadership is weak. Militarily speaking USA is a superpower, but the leadership of the USA is anything but super. I hope the American people is smart enough to vote for the Republicans this time and to clean up the economic mess in the USA. And when the American economy is doing well again, then just maybe can the Americans afford another war against Islamic lunatics, but this time learn from their previous mistakes. And if everything else fails, just flatten the Moslem countries to the ground. I think that would be the best alternative to protect Americans against terrorism. Whether USA likes it or not, the West is in a war with Islam. Islam started it. Now it remains to see who will win it. One thing is for sure: as long as Obama is in power, the West will not win.

In mock air battles / war games held a few years ago , three or four years ago if I am not mistaken , between U.S. air force pilots and israeli pilots ,the reesults of the war games were thus : 12 israeli planes shot down . and 375 american shot down . The americans know very well never to confront israeli pilots .Please put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Many Israelis like to talk tough (just read some of the talkbacks on this subject) as well as act tough (by sending jets against Palestinian civilians) but they're smart enough to know not to attack a nation that can fight back. Or at least they've become smarter after recently getting beat up so bad in Lebanon. Israel will only attack Iran with support from the US. Barring that support, there is no way Israel will attack. Anyone want to go on record disagreeing with me? Any of you tough armchair warriors want to claim that Israel will attack Iran without US help? By all means speak up if you believe this. Attacking Israel is not attacking USA!

Many of us support Israel and recognize that a nuclear Iran is a problem for everybody not just Israel. The reality is Israel can't expect anybody to come to their aid - I mean in 1973 Europe blocked US aircraft from refueling in Europe to save Israel from a genocidal invasion. So who cares what they think? There was no nuclear Iraq thanks to Israel. There is no nuclear Syria thanks to Israel. If there is no nuclear Iran thanks to Israel, I'd be very very happy. And seriously, the USN/USAF could bomb Iran back into the stone age without breaking a sweat - so why is Panetta bitching?

The reason Panetta is bitching is because he takes his marching orders from the traitorous Islamist protagonist in the White House (most Americans have not forgotten that humiliating "hands across the ocean" speech given by Obama -- his FIRST public speech -- addressed to the Iranian government.. Not that Israel really cares what a particular American president may think, feel or do. Israel does not take its marching orders from the United States.
