1. Time for a bad joke.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (04.02.12)
That's a whole lot of dough. You have to wonder how the deals work though. Does he store it some place (unlikely given what he said in the story) or is the food kept in storage in those places 'for' him? Nice of him to do this for the State.
2. Fantastic way to trick god
Sebastian ,   Jerusalem   (04.02.12)
3. Mareit Ayin...
Ariel ,   Modi'in, Israel   (04.02.12)
God said, "Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land." Ex. 12:19 This just another example of the hypocrisy of the religious establishment amongst Judaism. They keep their hametz - putting it in a separate place for the duration of Pesach, symbolically selling it to a non-Jew - then taking it back out again once the holiday is over. What do you think that God thinks of this practice??
4. You cant trick someone who does not exist
Ron ,   Melbourne,Australia   (04.02.12)
5. It is simply a payback for God on breaking his commitements
Ron ,   Melbourne, Australia   (04.02.12)
6. Not hypocritical
Enrique ,   Jerusalem   (04.02.12)
There are several ways used to get rid of hametz (nullification, burning, sale to non-Jew). As the saying goes "a deal is a deal" and so the sale is actually valid and can be upheld in a court of law. The fact that they buy it back is irrelevant - during passover it is legally owned by a non-Jew.
7. #3: it's no worse
HH ,   Jerusalem   (04.02.12)
than selling the entire country during shmitta. (Actually it's much better.)
8. He is a good man
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (04.02.12)
I know Jabber personally he is always very welcoming and takes care of us on our frequent stays at the Ramada Hotel. The way it works with "selling the Chametz is that he puts a down payment (100,000 nis) as long as he does not come to take his chometz then at the end of pessach the rabbi cancels the deal and gives him his money back.
9. The usual farce
Sagi   (04.02.12)
Now we have to wait for the chicken swingers in Septmber.
10. You Have To Laugh At This Nonsense
World Citizen ,   the world   (04.02.12)
These are the same people who preach that some rabbis of old have won debates with G_d and make women ride on the back of the bus. All of the Abrahamic religions have some bizarre beliefs but I think Judaism is by far the strangest. Okay, I will quit now and go eat my broiled lobster with butter and lemon sauce. MMMmmmmmmm tasty.
11. private sales happen too...
tsfatisha ,   tsfat   (04.02.12)
remember last year... some people sold their chometz privately. ( i think it was in beit shemesh)...at a cheap price.. including good malt whisky.. and the person who bought it ... came round to their house and took the whisky away.. there was nothing the people could do.. as it was a valid sale... the buyer got a bargain as the sellers only asked for a symbolic payment ... so it's not just a fiction.. better to sell thru the rabbinut who know how to do it properly.. the 'pessach goy' could take all the county's chometz and sell it.. but he won't cos he understands he is doing a mitzva...(not to mention he'd have to pay out a lot of money after pessach too!)
12. 10 Not to compare with a Seder ..

at a Haredi Tisch. It is divine.... Happy and a Kosher Pessah to all Ynet readers.
13. To think that with all the galaxies&black holes god has time

for this crap is truly....amazing. but hey: all religious superstition is AMAZING :-))
14. #10, enjoy your Lobster and the fecal matter it lives off of
Jake ,   USA   (04.02.12)
Oh, and when its crying (yes you can hear lobsters cry) as its being boiled alive, remember the countless ways us Abrahamics helped bring the world to its senses, and embrace the one loving God. Happy Passover.

Henry from New York ,   USA   (04.02.12)
look like a bully, and no one takes the opinions of a bully seriously. I've already given my thoughts on these matters before. With regard to time though, 13,5 billion years Is a lot of time (well beyond our comprehension) and if there is a higher being (which i believe there is), said being's nature is unknown, but presumably this being is powerful enough to control the various forces of the Universe or at least able to plan ahead and maniplulate the forces into making the various heavenly bodies act in certain ways. Presumably, this being is also vastly more intelligent than any of us, possibly beyond our comprehension. This is a paradigm. It's meant to explain why something is the way it is. It's not based on evidence, nor does it have to be proved like a hypothesis, because typically you don't have evidence. It's just a possible explanation though, one of many. Never attempt to speak with certainty on such matters as there's always the possibility that you might be wrong. The wise man knows this. It's also not wise to pretend one has superior beliefs to others. That is how many of the most zealous used to (and some often still do) act towards the religious beliefs of others. So, be careful not to sound like the people you are against.
17. As Jesus Said " It Is Not What Goes Into A Man's Mouth .....
World Citizen ,   the world   (04.03.12)
That Makes Him Unclean. It's What Comes Out Of His Mouth." Henry, I'm surely not a bully. I'm one of the nicest people on Ynet. Have you seen some of things I've been called on here for telling the truth? And I don't presume to know the mind of G_d, Allah, Jesus, Buddha or any of the rest of them. But I know that if he/she/it exists it is equitable and just. A god that isn't just is not a god. It a made-made meme used by certain groups to dominate other groups. So if G_d is against eating lobsters, crabs and shrimp, then he is against eating any sentient being including the fatted red heifer or unblimished lamb. The bottom line is G_d isn't the problem. Organized religion is.
18. # 17 World Citizen
Sagi   (04.03.12)
You have my total support on all except for the lobster. Fools believe religion to be wise. Wise men believe religion to be foolish. Politicians believe it to be useful. Religion is a crime against humanity and you are right, when it is organized it can be likened to organized crime.
19. #17 truth and religion
Mari   (04.03.12)
World Citizen- one of the truly enlightened statements on Ynet. But I hope you realize- you can't win against religious fanatism and brain washed people. I agree with you 100%.
20. Commandment to observe ! Thats all !No questions !

21. #18 - the wise man realises he knows nothing for sure.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (04.03.12)
The same goes for the wise woman of course.I don't want to get into any post-modernist garbage though. Though I will admit that organised religion can be used for control as well as good.
22. #17 - Speaking in such ways about the beliefs of others
Henry from New York ,   USA   (04.03.12)
Is acting like a bully; though I agree there's a lot of bullying behaviour on this site. The only saving grace is that typically it comes from the more extremist elements of the population otherwise I'd weep for both the US and Israel. I'll probably get flak for that, but people ont his site need to learn to debate without using irrelevant ad hominem attacks. On the part about the nature of God or a higher being, putting aside Judeo-Christian ideals, what says that such a being must be equitable and just? Is it a law of the universe? It may be, but such knowledge is currently beyond the human scope. While it's likely the attributes we've given the higher being or even beings are incorrect, it's also possible they aren't. On religion's negative aspects, just because cars kill people occasionally doesn't mean the car is a bad thing. Religion is like a car, not a gun. It tends to have more positive aspects when used properly. If you're an atheist telling people to abandon their beliefs that you consider inferior, how are you or Tom or Sagi any different from missionaries?
23. #16Henry, dear Neshume: maybe they post this one(?) Do your-
tom ,   tel aviv   (04.03.12)
self a great favour and visit any YouTube segment with the brilliant, departed Christopher Hitchens. You can do better: order "god Is Not GREAT" by the same author... I have a feeling that you know him though. There is a great clip where he & Stephen Fry debate two nutcases representing the Catholic faith. Love & understanding tom

25. #16, clear, concise & open-minded - thank you
Jake ,   USA   (04.03.12)
26. #16 Henry: a "higher being" would, by definition be "beyond
(04.04.12)
our comprehension". It is an underlying arrogance to suggest that -- as if it were possible! - SOMEthing could be "possibly beyond our comprehension". UnFAthomable. With all the self-congratulatory intellectual back-patting between you, World, Tom & Sagi, I'd figure you have the key to the Universe in your collective back pocket. Whether full-frontal attack (Sagi), Snyde bashing & Metro-chic Liberal disdain (Tom & World) or the Agnosto-guru approach like yours ("the wise man knows this") any formal religion bashing is a bit presumptuous and a little too easy for "the wise man". There are many many generations of traditional respect and reverence for a "higher being" -- who are you to denigrate any of them and assert your own superior "take" with your facile overgloss and dismissal?
27. Buddha was a man not a Good
Barbara ,   Bern CH   (04.05.12)
Thank you for your statement. You are right. Read quotes of A. Einstein about religion ... Shalom to all Buddhist loving an Israeli!
