1. I agree with the school.

I agree that Facebook is not always a good thing for young pupils and is frequently misused. However, a total ban on its use by a closely monitored religious group, who have little opportunity to make any contact with the real world around us is contributing to a balanced education for a thinking and reasoning future adult. Perhaps thats the whole point of this blanket ban. Turning out submissive and ignorant girls for the marriage mart.
3. I do not agree with the school
Northern ,   Israel   (04.08.12)
4. LOL! What a bunch of primitives!
Alan ,   Haifa, Israel   (04.08.12)
Facebook is utter crap because of their abuse of your data and broken privacy controls, but these people are acting like backwards Iranians. So these kids are being taught to be "good" Jewish women according to some bearded men claiming to wield the law of God, conveniently updated to 2012 via their interpretation of course. You know someone or a group is primitive when it has to ban a product or technology in order to enforce certain thought patterns. Does not matter if its religion or government.
5. No scarves
Shlomo   (04.08.12)
How come the girls don;t have to wear skullcaps or have side locks, or for that matter, pigtails?
6. Yes, you would agree with Dictatorship.
Ron ,   Melbourne, Australia   (04.08.12)
This is pure dictatorship. The Girls have parents, they are using Facebook after school. If the School would like to educate on the Dangers in Facebook - fine. This is is not education - this is policing what students do after school. They might as well regulate every aspect of their life - well we know that they try and do it
7. They are 100% correct..FB is a minefield for young people
Al   (04.08.12)
Anything posted on that shmatta can follow them forever. For those who havent got a clue. Anything posted on the web stays there forever. It can do more damage to your future than you can imagine.
8. #4 it was the pimitives who never lost their love for Israel
Al   (04.08.12)
that enabled you my little moron of a friend to live today in an Israel. If the religious bug you then I suggest you emigrate to Canada especially here in Quebec where you will quickly learn you just another dumb ass with an attitude problem. In short time you will be running to the local Chabad to feed you and to look for some employment. In even a shorter time you will be looking to go back home. I strogly suggest you leave Israel to learn to appreciate it with all its flaws.
9. Facebook
Valerie ,   Israel   (04.08.12)
It should be the parents who say what their children can and cannot subscribe to on the internet. Friends of mine took their children out of a religious school because the rabbis were telling them what to do.
10. Facebook READ THIS
john ,   Beverly Hills, CA   (04.08.12)
i deleted my facebook and many are, many have lots of time invested in it but overtime it will be history like myspace and aol profiles
11. Big Brother
Ben   (04.08.12)
It's not the schools place to police their students external activities! To demand a password under duress and access a persons personal account must go against civil liberties!
12. #4 maybe
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (04.08.12)
You said it yourself, Facebook abuses data and invades privacy. Maybe some parents want to protect their daughters' privacy without turning them in to social outcasts? I applaud the school for protecting the children and helping parents. And by the way: minimum age for a Facebook account is 13. The article talks about a 12 year old child.
13. I AGREE with the school
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.08.12)
For a few basic reasons Children, being children won't monitor what they post, putting them in danger of being manipulated by an adult for devious purposes, it has happened too many times to be ignored, endangering the child When they get older, their prospective employers or potential mates will ask them for their facebook names & paswords, again putting them in jeapordy We have heard of too many instances of youth exchanging porn via computer When they are on Facebook, they are dealing with the unknown
14. #11 BIG BROTHER
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.08.12)
Iit's external, it's not in school If it's at home their elders should use "PARENTAL CONTROLS"
15. Why don't we just...
Israeli101   (04.08.12)
Why don't we just completely segregate males and females, ban all use of the internet and make all women walk around in big black burqas that would solve the problem! That way women can be reduced to docile baby making machines that won't make any trouble. While we're at it why not take away their vote as well!
16. Facebook is no good , but should be parents choice
Scott   (04.08.12)
I agree with others who don't like Facebook. I also deleted my account. However, its the parents who should hold veto over such things. Its nothing to do with the school.
17. Defeat Big Brother
Dan from NJ ,   Livingston, NJ   (04.08.12)
Girls, keep you FB pages. Keep the Internet free!
18. watchout on your Souls! evils is roaming outside there on fb
Yehuda Ephraim ,   rwanda   (04.08.12)
padlock your souls while switching off all the means satan uses to make your souls vile.
19. Most Hebrew Schools MALE & Female do this
Ezra ,   US-IL   (04.08.12)
It's nothing new. It's a great idea (lest they become part of generation me. And I FULLY SULPORT IT. It's not about freedom of speech. Its about becoming a victim of aggressive capitalism, individualism and brain dead time wasting. The BOYS hVe the same rules: uh...was that mentioned here? Big deal, Facebook is not a growth oriented concept: quite the opposite: it is a bad influence on everyone. As if we've evolved over millions of years for the purpose of sitting on our backsides to play farmville or be exploited by the tons of lunatics Facebook hosts? Not.
20. All-girls Jewish school ?
Berekhya ben Mahasse   (04.08.12)
actually, this is no plain " All-girls Jewish school " this is an oh! -supposed to be - so wonderful, so inclusive, so open minded, Chabad School. The friends of all felojooz. (By the way, excuse me, are you juwish?).
21. @ #8 - What a load of garbage
Naor ,   USA   (04.08.12)
First it was the secular and even atheist Jews who founded, fought, and died for the state of Israel by in large. In fact, the religious world often rejected the notion of Zionism in the beginning so lets not rewrite history. As for this school, what a shame. If parents feel FB is not appropriate for their children well that is their decision, not the schools. Schools are there to educate our children, not to control their every thought or action. No more thought control!
22. These kids need to be prepared to integrate
Magpie 101   (04.08.12)
with society once they leave school. The fact that my child was being asked to cut herself off from that society would be enough to withdraw that child from school. In fact the authorities should be investigating the school as this seems like something Kach would dream up.
23. I don't get it...From my life long experiences with Jews,
Edithann ,   USA   (04.08.12)
virginity of Jewish women was never a primary concern, as has always been the case with Muslims, who even resortt to honor killings.. What is it that Jews are so concerned about? Is it only 'Power'? TATA
24. #22 Maggie
BEN O ,   ISRAEL   (04.08.12)
When the kids leave school, their prospective empoyers will then ask them for the passwords to their internet accounts Their prospective mates will do the same. It's better and cheaper than having a P.I. do it
25. You should be old enough to drink before a FB account.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (04.08.12)
26. This is silliness
R. Alkalai ,   USA   (04.08.12)
There are valid concerns with facebook. But, if children are properly supervised, there should not be a problem. Perhaps the school and parents should start a joint facebook project page to teach the kids how to use it responsibly and safely, setting up an acceptable environment where the kids can learn and enjoy it. There are ways to use it positively. There are many Rabbis who have pages and teach on facebook. Kids need to learn all facets of technology. It is part of the world they will function, work, and live in. It is the exploration and advancement of technology that helped make Israel the world leader. Perhaps the Rabbis need to consider that HaShem gave women brains that are just as capable as those of men. Therefore, it would stand to reason that women are not to be raised and used soley as brood mares.
27. inmodesty
Robert Weinraub ,   Aventura, Fl.USA   (04.08.12)
Maybe they should impose Sharii'a?
28. Facebook Ban
Joy ,   Prescott Valley, USA   (04.08.12)
The more you ban something the more sought out it can become. Rather than banning the site which, in my opinion, can be a great learning experience, teach them how to respond and post appropriately. That would make more sense.
29. Facebook
deavman ,   Acco, Israel   (04.08.12)
God forbid, they might learn something useful...
30. #26 Two questions
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.09.12)
