as a canadian israeli in canada we do have our share of violent acts but in comparrison to the US we are very far behind. in my opinion the right to bear arms should be dissolved how many people have to die before a constitution that was written in the 1700's can be changed to better society ? in regards to the people who encourage their rights to carry weapons i wonder how they would feel if their child was targeted by a crazy lunatic yielding a gun that he lawfully purchased from walmart

The United States also has the largest population of any country in the Western world. Think that MIGHT have something to do with it? The U.S. has a population of 312,000,000. Canada has a population of 34,000,000. Duh.

Gang violence perpetuates most of the shootings in the United States. Psychiatric patients have there fair share as well. People intent on murder...will find a way and a weapon to do the job. Even if it is with a battery operated drill... or rip saw.

Sarah, the USA has 5 percent of the world's population, but it has close to 25 percent of the world's prisoners. approx 700 per 100,000 are incarcerated, followed by a far second, Russia with approx 600 per 100,000. There is your context of population. It has by far the greatest proportion of its citizens in prison. Learn to read the figures properly - duh so, #6,what exactly are you getting at?
