Before I knew about his nazi past, I read and enjoyed his writings- however not since knowing abt his past have I read nor will I ever read his writing again. In my opinion, all Germans from his era are ALL NAZIS, and remain so until the day they die!

I wholeheartedly agree. First of all, writing a poem about a political issue is choosing the wrong form from the start. Secondly, Grass completely missed the relation between cause and effect. He is aggravated about Israel's capacity to defend herself, but not bothered by homosexuals and minors hanging from cranes or women brutally beaten for a few hair sticking out of the hijab
