I noticed that many of you Americans and Canadians don't know a thing about us Germans. You are full of prejudices. You probably never met a German. You have probably never been to Germany. The hateful reaction to the danish Mohamed cartoons included riots, murder and mayhem. Innocents in different parts of the world were killed. And, as usual, the world accepted this as a ‘normal’ reaction thereby treating Muslims as children entitled to riot at any pretext. Iran challenged anyone condemning the rioting by having a competition for anti-semitic cartoons; “let’s see what the Jews do” he said. Well, there were protests. But NO rioting, NO killing, NO terrorism. Same here. What you see is real free speech (see post #27). NO rioting, NO killing, NO terrorism. What happened to your level of common sense? You are not using your brain. THAT SIMPLE !

Some of us do know about Germans and have met many good people. I met some of the younger generation while living in Israel; they were students to Protestant ministry that were there thanks to the Nietzche Foundation, learning about Jews and Judaism. Well, Solomon, I just noticed that there are many stereotypes and prejudices concerning Germans. _SOME_ people here do exactly the same stuff as Mr. Grass. He is an old man with a weird moral. But he does not speak for the entire German nation. Your news do not give your the whole picture. Grass is under attack from the right and left. Sure there are people who agree on his "thesis". But you will find stupidity everywhere on earth. Nevertheless, let me assure you, people like me (and I am not the minority) don't agree with Grass. I know that Achmadinedschah is a dangerous man. And I understand that Israel will protect its people. So, I am with you.

So basically, he accuses the _free_ media to be somehow manipulated and to repress his opinion. The situation in Germany is pretty weird. We got a "new" antisemitism carried out by some members of the left-wing and we got a new extremly right-wing (the new nazis?) who pretend to defend Israel and attack all Muslims. Both sides don't speak for the German majority, but nevertheless - I admit - it is scary. Finally, I see Israels situation. Your people were victims of our ancestors. The Shoa and all the pogroms that had happened before. Israel and its people deserve peace. They should never suffer again or live in fear. Shalom.
