1. Oh, goodness
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.06.12)
Shades of Nazi Germany. Egypt is headed down a path of destruction. I suppose they have not learned anything from history. 'Bye.
2. How sick and racist these Islamist societies are
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (04.06.12)
Where is the Western Liberal Media? Why aren't they condemning racist Egypt? racist Saudi Arabia? The whole racism of the Islamist world?
3. Western Liberals are busy knitting burkas for their grand-

daughters, that's why :-)))
4. Islamist?
Jonathan ,   Chicago USA   (04.06.12)
Mr. Friedman, we Americans invented that dirty trick! It was used most effectively by surrogates for Geo. W. Bush against John McCain in South Carolina when they spread rumors that McCain's adopted (dark) Asian daughter was actually an illegitimate black love child. Please, Islamists can be blamed for plenty, but don't give them credit for our inventions.
5. Is being Jewish the ultimate insult to Muslims?
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (04.06.12)
Truth be told, we'll never know how many, like he, have Jewish blood. That two candidates have either Jewish roots, or American roots, and that being enough to shun them also makes me think that these qualifications are why they rose to the top. Too bad their fellows hate both Jews and Americans so much. No wonder they go in reverse and wonder why the world is not keeping step. Who, but they. would cling to such a bloody, hellish past?
6. Being Jewish is the ultimate insult? Egypt wants out of its
Hippocrates ,   Earth   (04.06.12)
treaty? Take back the sinai from these illeterate backwards henchmen toting al qaeda
7. It is very telling..
Mohab ,   Alexandria, Egypt   (04.06.12)
and also quite amusing that the first, and only, time I hear or read about this is on an Israeli news website. And no, we do not have 'hunchback' as a local term for those with Jewish roots. Makes me think you almost WANT us to hate you, so you can keep victimising yourselves. As for the candidate with an American mother, it is the LAW, that the president cannot be married to a foreigner or have foreign parents, much like Americans having a law that the president must be born in America and almost as pointless. It is nothing against Americans in particular. I would ask you to stop inventing reasons to be angry, but I must say these angry talkbacks can be quite amusing. Especially Sarah B.'s with all their unreasonable hatred. I wonder if this'll get published?
8. #4 - but Islamists have been doing it for so long
William ,   Israel   (04.06.12)
9. #7 - Egypt doesn't have a dual-citizenship option?
William ,   Israel   (04.06.12)
Besides, the scandal here regarding a candidates US-citizen mother is that he is salafist and so virulently anti-US. Yet his mother lives there. So, it's just one layer of this onion called Islamic-Arab hypocrisy.
10. Surprised? Google this
Tracy W   (04.06.12)
The Nazi roots of the PLO. These are facts - proven history, not allegations.
11. #5
Ali   (04.06.12)
Islam is based on Judaism. Nothing bad about being a Jew. It is an honor to be one. It is zionism that we oppose. The 20th century movement that uprooted Arabs from Palestine and uprooted Jews from Arab countries to go live in "Israel".
12. #7 ah lack of civil rights in many countries
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (04.06.12)
Don't forget that your President must be a Muslim as well. So you do not have equal rights for your citizens, just like America. One day both countries may enjoy equal rights for all of your citizens like we have here in Israel - but I doubt that. We are the ones accused of lacking equal rights by people in countries that don't have the rights our citizens do. Rather amusing actually.
13. We know this guy, isn't winning.
(04.06.12)
14. @7 Mohab of Alex
Zack ,   California   (04.06.12)
Excellent analysis Mohab. That's exactly what Israel is about. Israel is a nation that was built on victimization. Significant proportion of Israelis are inherenlty sanctimonious types. Some Israelis complain about hate while they propagate hate. Israel burtalises, murders and massacres gentiles and gentiles are not even allowed to hate Israel for it.
15. #7 mohab - it is very telling...
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.06.12)
that you only read Israeli news websites. Read the article again; it does not say that 'hunchback' is a local term for those with Jewish roots. 'Hunchback' is an example of an unfortunate term in English that used to mean a pariah (and may still have that meaning in some places). In Egypt, to have a Jewish connection is to be a pariah. (And this is peace?) Your post makes me think you almost WANT to hate us, so you can keep victimizing yourselves. And the point about citizenship is understood; most countries have such a law. The article was more a comment about the discrepancy between the facts (his mother has an American passport) and the reaction (‘she only has a green card’). That happens everywhere. Please to stop inventing reasons to be angry.
16. #11 - Read the Holy Quran - Children of Israel will live in
Farhoud Jackson ,   Goshen   (04.06.12)
...their lands.
17. this again..
european   (04.06.12)
people, you're all middle eastern and semitic. the differences between jews and arabs are miniscule, it's just the religion that keeps you apart. intelligent and reasonable people ought to be able to rise above that hatred based pretty much on nothing. both sides are hating their own image in the mirror.
18. Amr Moussa's Jewish connection
Harold ,   USA   (04.06.12)
No wonder why the Middle East conflict never been solved. Who knows may be Mubarak has Jewish connections too.
19. #6
Mohab ,   Cairo   (04.06.12)
Sinai was never your's to "take back", so get over yourself. Illegally occupying land after war doesn't make anything your's, regardless of the war being so called "defensive". Sinai has always been under Egyptian authority and that is not going to change ever. And you shouldn't call anybody illiterate especially when you can't spell the word properly.
20. #17. "european"? Really? Come on...
Tom ,   USA   (04.06.12)
In European school they teach World History including both the Old and the New Testament. There were no contemporary Arabs in the M. E. during Pharaonic, Babylonian or Roman times - which is to say, during the Biblical era. From Wiki: "The early Arabs were the tribes of Northern Arabia speaking proto Arabic dialects". The word "semitic" refers to linguistic terms and it's not a genetic marker. Unfortunately many "highly educated "european" (sic. /sarc) confuse DNA markers and structures of languages.
21. #14.Zack: Have you read the news?
Tom ,   USA   (04.06.12)
In spite of your convoluted ideas it's the Muslim who massacres, murders and brutalizes everybody they can reach: Coptic Christians, Syrian Orthodox, Sunnis, Shias, Westerners and each other. From Moracco all the way to the Philippines Muslims indulge in shedding blood. Read the paper and count the killings in Libya, Syria, Black-Africa by your Muslim brethren.
22. Alongside the Canaanites
#16   (04.06.12)
Yes, Jews lived in the holy land for thousands of years... Alongside others though. Zionists like Lieberman came from Europe, They have no connection to the land.
23. G-d Forbid!!! A Jewish Connection! OY VEY!!!
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (04.06.12)
The HORROR! The HORROR!!! LOL! Silly people. Jews Rock!! Chag Sameach!!!!
24. What next, they don't hate Jews?
Yossi ,   Houston/Israel   (04.06.12)
Are Egyptians this dumb or is their proaganda just so bad! Next they will tell us that Islam wants peace, LOL!
25. One billion people in the Jewish roots statistics.
Michael ,   California, USA   (04.06.12)
Every sixth person living today has Jewish roots, over one billion people. The statistical model which did the computation accounted for all the tragedies that befell Jewish people throughout history. Egypt might have more "Jews" than many other countries due to its proximity and historical ties to Jerusalem, so it no surprising at all to find out ...
26. # 25...Then what's wrong with Jews that they can't
Edithann ,   USA   (04.06.12)
get along with their kin? TATA
27. #26, My question also, especially these days.
Michael ,   California, USA   (04.06.12)
Israelis had reasonably good reputation in the U.S. until about ten years ago. It has declined rapidly since right wing aggressive Israelis started arriving. You can see their relics on this board, criticizing Obama and America. Actually, this kind of an attitude would have been beneficial in the 1930's in Europe. Who knows, maybe Amr Mousa can derive some benefit from studying heir history? Put it down in the book you are writing.
28. #22 - #16
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.07.12)
The Canaanites don't exist anymore. European Jews are descendants of the first Jews who at first lived in the holy land. They are more closely related to Jews from Arabic countries than Shia and Sunni Muslims who are at each others throats. BTW: The majority of Israelis are Jews from Arab countries or descended from them. The "Pals" are Syrian, Iraqi, etc, by their own admission.
29. hundreds Coptic Egyptians Pilgrims in Jerusalem right now
(04.07.12)
after the death of Pop Shnouda III who banned Copts from Taqdis, Air Sinai is offering two trips/day each with over 100 passenger. Most of them are Southern Egyptian Sa'aidis. Copts Tourism is going to push up Palestinian economy in East Jerusalem. Why Copts are dissatisfied with Pop Shnouda III; the Worldly Lord's Messiah؟
30. #14 zack - correct
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.07.12)
except you have it backwards! The "Pals" have built themselves up based on victimization. Significant proportion of arabs are inherenlty sanctimonious types. Most arabs complain about hate while they propagate hate. Arabs brutalize, murder and massacre Jews and their own, while their own people are not even allowed to hate them for it. This would be an excellent analysis if you would only dare to open your eyes. But why let facts get it the way?
