1. So what
(04.10.12)
There are books, films, BBC series, board- and computer games about "Escape from Colditz". Brits like these kind of war-time stories, how British POWs tricked their German guards. What is actually the problem? Ynet doesn't need to get het up over everything and anything that is somehow connected to WW2.
2. Nazi prisons
Yoni ,   Ireland   (04.10.12)
Anyone else feel that this is in poor taste?
3. Not only British officers

4. #1 Because u Can trvialise the horror
RealityCheck ,   Jerusalem Israel   (04.10.12)
#1 you dont seem to get it all these things dumb down and trivialise what undescribable horror the entire world suffered through to the point the world forgets and God forbid will repeat it . Having just returned from Germany I can tell you many of its youth have already.
5. #4
(04.10.12)
Haven't you read the article? It's about Colditz Castle, not about a concentration camp. Colditz was a POW camp that was run according to the Geneva Convention - one of the few. Germans brutally massacred millions of people, you don't need to make history worse than it already was, because that's also a form of trivialisation. People will dumb down if you start claiming that every camp and jail was a concentration camp with executions, torture and "undescribable horrors", because that wasn't the case. The holocaust needs no exaggeration.
6. #4 I live in Germany
Paul ,   Berlin, Germany   (04.10.12)
I am not German, I still constantly see programs about world war 2 on TV, there is no trivialisation going on here. I can assure you all Germans hate the Nazis, they are ashamed of what happened and do not support the fascist views. With the exception of a few remaining right wingers in the east the Nazis are hated and despised by the modern German, They replace the English word C*** with Hitler here. They really despise him, They do not shy away from those horrors. They face up to them constantly. Providing this is done in the right way then this could be a positive thing. I trust the modern German to make sure the truth is told honestly. Fascism is unlikely to ever take hold here again. Other countries such as the Netherlands and Hungary and the Eastern European nations have a much bigger problem with far right anti-semitic and nationalistic ideology.
