3. This is what Jamse Woolsey , former CIA director , said:
Mladen Andrijasevic ,   Beer Sheva, Israel   (04.13.12)
Well, I once wrote a paper years ago on Hitler as a diplomat. From 1933 to 1939 Hitler was superbly rational in the tactical sense. He was a total sociopath whose objective was to kill all the Jews and conquer Europe for a 1000 year empire, but tactically, he was as shrewd as they come. He rivaled Maternich at his best. He had the chanceries of Europe eating out of his hands. He was a sociopath. And it is important I think to realize that this third category of international national leaders, being a sociopath, is unfortunately more common than many others would like. For example, we know now from Soviet documents that were released or stolen after the Cold War ended, that Castro pushed very hard during the Cuban missile crisis for essentially there be a nuclear war. Happily he did not care if Cuba would be destroyed. He wanted so much that the United States be destroyed, and he was not even a religious fanatic. He was just a fanatic sociopath. That almost tipped things into a tragic direction, but happily on the other side the Soviet Union was basically a bunch of thugs with a cover story their ideology was very substantially dead. By the early sixties there were more true believing revolutionary Marxist-Leninists in the bookstores of the Upper-West Side of Manhattan by that time, than I think there were in the Kremlin. Those guys did not want die for the principle of each according to his his ability, to each according to his need – they wanted to remodel their dachas. We were, in a way, lucky with our opponent in the Cold War because they were thugs with a cover story. They were not, on the whole, sociopaths. Unfortunately, the Castro model, the Hitler model, the model of the sociopath is one we may well need to deal with in Iran. And it should not provide any kind of relief to hear from either the former head of Israeli intelligence, or anybody else, that they are rational. They may well be quite tactically quite shrewd and rational. The Persians invented chess, they are quite good at it. But rational in that sense doesn’t mean that you are not a sociopath, after the model of Castro and others. www.madisdead.blogspot.com
4. Pride is not ignorance
David ,   Israel   (04.13.12)
We must all remember what this country started from and even more what's it been through. To act weak in front of the Arab world and our enemies has always been what has made is suffer in the past. We owe it to the people who risk their lives and work daily for the protection of our country to stand strong with them and let not only our foes know but our families, friends and neighbors know Am Y'Israel Chai !
5. it's not just Israel
jan ,   Jerusalem/New York   (04.13.12)
don't forget some of the things A-jad says. He has a New Order in his mind and many Muslims ,Hindus and Christians are threaned by Iran as well. The IRI is a theocracy, led by a specific SHiite Muslim prophecy and wish to rise again. Once any of this starts craziness starts, like many wars it can take humankind to levels unseen by us yet. Only Israel really understands the deal right now in my mind
6. What a prime example of perfect drivel written with agenda!
tom ,   tel aviv   (04.13.12)
What panic, what bloody denial?! 3-groschen psychology mixed with political attitude. Please, try reporting on the Social Upheaval instead, or cottage cheese drama.
7. I have been to Israel many times
Joe Brague ,   Ontario USA   (04.13.12)
They are very tough people and they fear nothing . They are very happy people .
8. Israel vs Iran
B.Dean ,   belfast   (04.13.12)
Wel,I saw a cartoon of Israel totally surrounded by Syria,Egypt,Jordan,Iran,Lebanon,Gaza rockets etc,I put a little caption on,"WOW ISRAEL HAS THEM SURROUNDED".I dont believe Israel is the aggressor here. The very last thing Jewish people want is a war with anyone, they want peace, but when you have the Iranian leader screaming about wiping you off the map just as he is developing nuclear capability,Hey,what would YOU THINK?
9. Israel under threat?.....Now THAT...
Gideon Reader   (04.13.12)
...is something new. So what the "calcalist" who penned this article is saying is,...the nothing has changes in several milenia. Being under threat from any national or sub national group is very familiar to the residents of Israel wether the Selucid Greeks, romans, mamelukes, Arabs, Brits, or whomsoever is NOT NEW. Live your life. Laugh at your enemies. And be prepared to smith the crap out of them hip, thigh, and seriously kicketh their asses so they remember it as Naqba II, or III, or whatever it is this time.
10. Iran Anxiety
Debbie ,   Israel   (04.13.12)
This article is the biggest load of bullshit drivel I've ever read. This guy really scraped the barrel manufacturing a topic to write about. I've lived in Israel for more than 30 years and do not know a soul who is panicked or terrified in any way, about Iran. In fact its not even on most people radar here at all. People here are like people everywhere; they are concerned with their families, friends, making a living, studying, travelling, and having a good time. I dont know who those bitter people are who are standing in line at the embassy, but I've been to the embassy countless times to renew passports, and I never came in contact with any bitter panicked people. Joe, no 7 is right. People here are tough, optimistic and upbeat. This article simply lowers peoples' morales and is a crock of shit.
11. Iran is not capable of doing anything to Israel. Its bluster
Alan ,   SA   (04.14.12)
Iran knows well it wud be the end of Iran! Pow!
12. G-d's Algorithm
Adam Neira ,   Paris, France   (04.14.12)
The problem with this sociological analysis is that if a group of people suffers from a collective state of denial reinforced by tribal/nationalistic groupthink then all the members of that group may not be able to come up with the correct solution to the existential threats facing that group. They are so stuck in a limited frame of reference they can’t think outside of the box. The same phenomenon is presented in the 1997 film "The Cube". So this report is dangerous because it somehow sanitizes and perpetuates this dangerous level of denial. BTW, there is a solution to the current Iran/West imbroglio... All parties to attend a reconvened NPT Conference in Jerusalem by the end of 2012. P.S. In the movie, the main person who solves the problem and leads the way is the mathematician. As all the readers will be aware a Rubik's Cube can always be solved in twenty moves, no matter what the configuration, if the right algorithm is in place.
13. #3-you've fingered the wrong country
Orestes ,   Seattle USA   (04.15.12)
Try North Korea for your "profile." With a young princeling as their leader by inheritance, now humiliated by the abject failure of their space launch/long-range ballistic missile test, THEY are dangerous.
14. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE WORRIED
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (05.21.12)
but the media and some part of the Israeli government are using this excuse to distract people form the real issues in Israel. People are not panicked in Israel. They are just concerned.
