31. Elkariv's article is plain lunacy.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.15.12)
Elkariv's article is plain lunacy on every level. First of all there is no "occupied West Bank". Jews have owned Judea and Samaria for more than 3,500 years. Countless international law experts have incontrovertibly proven this land is ours. Secondly, no other nation would even consider allowing foreign enemies to freely invade their nation to wreak havoc. This proposition is laughable. Thirdly, virtually nobody in Israel wants Israel to "win" the reputations of being a nation of suckers.
32. op-ed
David Sitbon ,   Paris France   (04.15.12)
Amazing how you or at least media people are ignorants of the reality of the field down in France. You are not dealing with democrats defending rights but with people who deny the very existence of your country. You want to play the role of the useful idiot with your naiveté. Go tho their sites watch their video and you'll realize the amount of hate overthere. Let them do what you see as a democrat action and it will be translated as victory against a state they only want to delegitimate. Please come to Paris or read frenc h newspapers . I am more than happy to help.
33. Fly in Activists
Henry Weil ,   Jerusalem   (04.15.12)
Correct they won without even coming as usual PR is our very great weakness what can on expect from an over blowen and incopmpetent number of useless Ministers, time to improve as it only gets worse
34. Are you nuts? We won the media war big time!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (04.15.12)
The million-man Global March on Jerusalem was a total bust...with neighboring Arab countries banning the march at which only a few thousand showed up at any location. The Flytilla was failure - with western democratic countries barring self-proclaimed agitators from disturbing the public order - when on any other day of the year they could indeed book and fly if they felt like it. The flytilla generated barely a bleep in the world press. Nobody cares anymore. The Palestinians lost the media war because for years they waged it by saying they wanted peace but then turning around and blowing up and shooting thousands of innocent Israeli civilians and then crying into the cameras that Israel made them do it. Then when they were offered a peace deal, they got up, walked away from the negotiations and started another violent war (intifada #2). Then they voted in Hamas - a government with a proven record of rejecting peace at any price. The world is fed up with the Palestinians. If they want peace, let them negotiate. Otherwise, they'll continue to occupy the back pages.
35. Ha Ha The protestors won
leon ,   Britain   (04.15.12)
36. There is no way Israel can win the "Israeli media war" becuz
Sick of YNet ,   Israel   (04.16.12)
Israeli news medias all have an extreme leftist agenda. They are all on the side of the terrorists and anarchists. They just love to get "evidence" and smear Israel hate stories all over their websites and press. No wonder the word has a false negative image of Israel.
37. Naive in the extreme! (end)
laura j ,   USA   (04.16.12)
38. Israel is undermined from within
Ilan   (04.16.12)
A nicer way of saying collaboration and treason
39. No headlines around here, and they like it !
Justin Case ,   Rio de Janeiro   (04.16.12)
40. Headlines
Gary ,   NZ   (04.16.12)
In NZ it did not even get in the news, let alone into the headlines. Nobody outside of Israelis and a few activists has any interest in these events which are portrayed in Israel as if the whole world is about to end. A minor NZ road accident or provincial rugby match score is bigger news here than a protest march in Israel.
41. No, this did NOT make "headlines"
Zvi   (04.16.12)
It was mentioned in little blurbs, but it didn't deserve or get more than that. What was in the headlines? * Syria * Egypt * Iran * North Korea * Burma * Afghanistan (Taliban) * USA (tornados, campaign, Secret Service scandal) * Summit of the Americas Can anyone realistically dispute that all of these had far more importance than a bunch of self-important anti-Israel narcissists being denied entry into Israel? And Bibi's letter was effective; it reminded the media and the loser activists how much of a waste this event really was, at a time when Syria is bombing Homs from the air.
42. The reason this DIDN'T make "huge headlines"...
esnuffnstl ,   USA   (04.16.12)
...is because people expect such behaviour from Israel. If they would have let them pass, they would have done pretty much exactly what the author said. No harm would have come to Israel by the protestor's actions, but letting them pass unhindered WOULD have made headlines. The headlines being: "Israel no longer afraid of a motley group of wannabe peaceniks." The world expects Israel to overreact, expects it to bar the entry of such people, expects it to act like a bully...so when Israel acts this way, it doesn't make news. Israel isn't losing the PR war, it has already lost the PR war. It just hasn't had to deal with the consequences as the US has protected Israel at the UNSC. Given the souring relations between the US and Israel, this may not always be the case.
43. Did hear anything here ; usually we would.
Scott ,   Australia   (04.16.12)
What a silly article. Actually , Israel did the right thing - the letter that was produced, rebuking the activists was a master stroke. I believe it wrong-footed the protesters - AND the media who were hoping it was going to another "bash Israel" party.
44. #42 - see #41 for correct assessment - You have no idea.
Scott ,   Australia   (04.16.12)
The letter - shocked everyone - especially the protesters and the media. Caught completely off-guard, blind-sided by having their hypocrisy confronted so cogently. They have no answer.
45. #23 correction
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (04.16.12)
Facebook did not overthrow Gadaffi. It was cruise missiles, drones, B2 bombers, SAS death squads and CIA troops. Even Gadaffi was captured by SAS (some say French Foreign Legion) and after his bodyguards were executed and he was wounded, turned over to "rebels".
46. Nr 23
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (04.16.12)
The news was not even mentioned in the Belgian nr 1 Flemish newspaper "De Standaard", not today and not yesterday. Though on the news yesterday they showed the violent mob at the Brussels airport. One "peacefull" activist was arrested for stealing.
47. Good people ????
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (04.16.12)
While I can understand the arguments that letting these activists proceed to Betlehem could be a wise decision (if they have to pay for their ticket, they will not come back that soon), I do not believe that these people are "good people". Good people would demonstrate whenever necessary. Did you see a single 'pro Palestinian' demonstrate for the Syrians ? or Darfur ? How comes the "good people" are concerned by Palestinians and nog Syrians ?
48. nO 23 What part of Europe are you talking about
Emma ,   Arab Occupied London   (04.16.12)
Nothing in the British press and nothing on Sky or even on the PBC (Palestiinian Broadcasting Corporation).
49. No 35 Just how did the protesters win?
Emma ,   Arab Occupied London   (04.16.12)
From what I understand, their ticket money is not refundable so collectively they have lost out to the tune of 1/2 million dollars. I have not seen anything in any of the British media although I am sure that the Guardian and Independent will have something. Even the BBC did not cover the story.
50. Trust me on this:
(04.16.12)
If the anti-Semitic, anti-Zionist, anti-Israeli New York Times-International Herald Tribune and its two quislings, Friedman and Cohen, did not even mention the fly-in, then it was a non-event and can hardly be called a success. Israeli left-wing activists who held signs reading "Welcome to Palestine" should be stripped of their Israeli citizenship and deported to the Gaza Strip.
51. No 42
Emma ,   Atsb Occupied London   (04.16.12)
You have a valid point but one that works in Israel"s favour. Because of all the lies and propaganda spread by the Arabs Israel has been so demonised that any perceived bad behaviour is not news any more. So your friends" attempts to get more bad PR for Israel has fired no-one is remotely interested. As they say dog bites man not news man bird dog - news.

54. This dumb stunt called the fly-in
Yoav Naor ,   Haifa Israel   (04.17.12)
Was a complete washout,a fizzer,no one gave a rats-ass for it,no one cares, these stunts are boring, normal people have lives to live,no time or money to fly to a foreign land to cause problems riots and dumb stunts.Next time set the dogs on them.......
55. Enough being the good guy! Good for you Israel!
D ,   New York, USA   (04.25.12)
So I cannot go on vacation to Dubai because I have a stamp in my US passport that I have been to Israel, WHY should Israel allow haters into country, for all I know they can be offering money to palestinians for terror attacks!!! Enough is enough! The country is still in protecting itself mode, they cannot trust the arabs, palestinians, and innocent people get blown up left and right! Have you ever heard of an ISRAELI SUICIDE BOMBER? Thats, right! Because we teach and value LIFE not death! They want to call themselves PEACE activists? It isn't peace if they are entering to spread a violent message!
