pnina ,   israel   (04.16.12)
When on earth will Tsahal learn that a camera crew is just as important as the armed soldiers at events like this!! These protests have been anticipated in the world news for a week, and they show up there like a bunch of boy scouts. At least the soldiers had real weapons, not paint guns.
32. dishonorable discharge
european   (04.16.12)
is the remedy here. anything less is lip service. no army in the world needs this type of primitive and cowardly behavior on display against unarmed people. and it further suggests that he's a coward when he tries to defend himself making up stories about broken pinkie fingers, instead of standing up and saying, yes, i made a big mistake, i'll now shut up and accept whatever the investigation finds. but obviously there's no honor here. deeply disappointing.
33. Lift that suspension immediately. His only faults were
Harry Wright ,   UK   (04.16.12)
giving too much time to the provocateurs and dealing with them too mildly. He should have concluded the incident in 5 minutes flat by ordering their apprehension for disobeying lawful orders. No traffic police would have tolerated their defiance for 2 hours. As soldiers, they all should have acted more decisively.
34. Anarchists
Cheryl ,   Chicago, IL   (04.16.12)
The anarchists came to Israel to cause trouble! They're hooligans and THEY should be arrested and sent back. They incited violence against the IDF and the State of Israel. Send them back and if any Israeli citizens are involved in this, they should be deported.
35. Eisner and he Danish yob
Sharon Klaff ,   London UK   (04.16.12)
The IDF must know that western pro Arab Palestinian activists are a different breed. They are trained to incite and then they edit the record and claim harassment and injury. They have to be policed in a totally different way to the normal Arab terrorist. They are urban terrorists and use a kind of aggression to provoke retaliation by the most gentle of souls. They have tried it here in the UK and waste police time by bringing false charges. We pro Israel activists have started having our own recording equipment to protect ourselves. The IDF would to as well to always have a camera crew on board. They are fvile and have no respect for anyone but heir own hatred. They also have top QC's and lawyers advising them on how to abuse the law legally. Next time use the water canoand keep yourselves out of the picture. Good luck . Lets hope the enquiry upholds your good name.
36. @18
Feras ,   Italy   (04.16.12)
of course blocking the highway is illegal, but you know, blocking it to protest Shalit's release all over Israel isnt right??? ;)
37. Those kaffiyeh-clad "peace activists" were BLOCKING THE ROAD
Tahl   (04.16.12)
Yes, the commander was out of line when shoving his weapon at the guy's face like that. But these punks were asking for it. They were blocking the road, thus posing discomfort to ordinary Israelis who travel there. No sane country should tolerate such saboteurs. And why were these western "peace activists" wearing a kaffiyeh, by the way?
38. #2 - Israel democracy only covers citizens inside Israel
William ,   Israel   (04.16.12)
just like UK democracy is not extended to those in Basra, Iraq. You can change the definition all you like but there is no cure for "stupid".
39. #3 - shame on us for being there to be provoked?
William ,   Israel   (04.16.12)
Is that like the rapist saying "shame on my victim for dressing in a way that made me commit the crime"? One assh*le foreigner get a smack in the face and you call that "bloodlust". It does seem like your tie to reality is highly suspect.
40. #8 - unless you can show widespread proof
William ,   Israel   (04.16.12)
you're basically painting the entire nation with the same brush for the actions of one man. I believe that is called "racism". However, we invite you to come to Israel and document this "widespread abuse"...or just stay at home and write your Internet tirades. Either way - yawn!
41. Yeah
zechariah=>8:23 ,   usa   (04.16.12)
Let the world know that Israel will crack heads of anarchists trying to delegitamize the Jewish State of Israel. Booya.
42. The officer must be awarded a medal...
Jules   (04.16.12)
... for defending Israel, not suspended.
43. IDF officer who beat activist !!
jacques ,   nsw   (04.16.12)
that wouldn't hurt
44. Pseudo-activists go Homs!
Anton.orde   (04.16.12)
45. Great Job...
Ron ,   Texas   (04.16.12)
Geat Job Lieutenant-Colonel
46. They should have treated them like Syria treats it prot...
Daniel ,   Tracy USA   (04.16.12)
47. #8 go to Syria, moron! Let the world know!
Ryan ,   USA   (04.16.12)
48. Give him a medal !!!!!!!
Ben S ,   Free world   (04.16.12)
Toss out the Danish trouble maker and give the Lt. Col. a medal.
49. Nice hit!! I would have done the same!
Efraim ,   Virginia   (04.16.12)
Kol hakavod Israel! Dont take any crap from terrorists.
50. Shame on Ynet!
Menachem   (04.16.12)
How is it that the original story of the "beating" made to the headlines of the news on Ynet? Why is the media complicit with these clowns who fake videos to embarrass Israel?
51. This stunt
BK ,   Virginia, US   (04.16.12)
If anyone in an Arab state tried any form of dissent, he would see not the barrel of a gun in the face, but a bullet between the eyes. Witness Syria, for example. What does Israel do? It suspends the soldier. These morons who came for this stunt (that is exactly what it is) deserve to be kicked out of Israel on their left-wing asses. They wanted provocation...the worse the better...and then plaster it all over the internet.
52. IDF MUST have a videographer with them at all times
GZLives   (04.16.12)
53. Who cares!
Yossi ,   Houston/Israel   (04.16.12)
Ok he hit some anti Semite. Big Deal! Either give him a medal or suspend him for not shooting the punk. Let's get on with the business of Israel--these so called Palestinians always nipping at our heels is really getting old. Bibi, you spoke too soon, some of us really are Jews and we don't turn the other cheek to those that hate us for trying to run a decent and organized society.
54. he should be awarded not suspended.
ralph   (04.16.12)
55. I don't know the IDF can...
Edwin ,   Canada   (04.16.12)
...put up with so much from this EuroTrash! I for one would not have been so gentle. I guess this is the reason these pseudo-humanitarians feel at liberty to protest in Israel only. They obviously dare not attempt these tactics in any other country in the Middle East. The cowards pick the easy target: Israel where they know their human rights will be respected.
56. Yes #21, FILM IT. When I was with the Women in Green
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (04.16.12)
protesting the snot rifka glatt who was unjustly persecuting the settler hero Baruck Marzel, there were two police there filming us and all we had were posters. I remember my sign, rifka glatt is traif, so true then and the government now.
57. To all protesters
sk ,   USA   (04.16.12)
You are protesting against the wrong side. Arabs (including the so called "Palestinians"), the Iranians and the Turks, all Islamic, are 24 huge nations all against one tiny Jewish nation. Why because they are Islamic and their religious bigotry cannot tolerate a non-Isalmic nation in their midst no matter how small. The Middle East Muslims outnumber the ME Jews 10,000:1 and if Israel does not stay strong, vigilant and show now fear, it will be overrun by Islamic barbarism, intolerance, hate, and geonocide via the culture of death. So, my dear protestors and provocateurs, do your homework next time, defend the TRUE underdog before you pick sides!
58. Stand strong IDF
sk ,   USA   (04.16.12)
Release this man! The provocateurs are supporting the majority -- the Islamists, the huge bloc of Middle East bullies!
59. Usefull idiots have cameras..ready, set, ACTION
Abraham ben Jacob ,   Canada   (04.16.12)
I would like to see the rest of the film that the "activists" don't reveal. They came into Israel to cause trouble, what a bunch of nasty foreign hypocrates.
60. If I were an Israeli soldier, how would I feel ?
Abraham ben Jacob   (04.16.12)
If I was an Israeli soldier, I would have beaten the rowdy troublemakers but make certain it's away from the cameras.
