1. Are these Flytilla Peace Activists
Benjamin ,   Ramat HaSharon   (04.16.12)
any worse than Peace Now who have the same hatred towards Israel and the same goal? Israel should throw the Peace Now activists out like they the Fly-in and Flotilla anti-Semitic racists.
2. Israeli diplomats
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (04.16.12)
Israeli dipomats are the last ones who should comment on Israeli PR. It is no secret that service in the diplomatic corps is based on being ideologically faithful to Meretz or more left. That is why, despite having almost endless resources, the only things that professional Israeli diplomats have done is weaken Israel, strengthen Fatah/Hamas while pigging out on expensive food. There is no Israeli PR success since the mid-80s that is not the result of private initiative.
3. Everyone seems ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.16.12)
... to be missing the point. The issue here is whether a sovereign state must tolerate an invasion of agents provocateur, or if it has the right to deny access to anyone it wishes. These so-called "activists" could very easily have remained at home and demonstrated their support for a highly worthless cause without attempting to do so in Israel. For example, I am very much against the Saudi regime's treatment of women. I am very much against the practice of female circumcision, which is all too commonplace in quite a few hellholes throughout the world. Do you see me gearing up to fly to Saudi (even assuming they would grant a Jew a visa, which they do not)? Do you see me preparing to fly to some African nation to protest female circumcision? No. I confine my protest to realistic means of support, and I would never dream of defying a country's laws. That said, it is not lost on me that, even if I could enter Saudi Arabia, I would risk certain execution. The same holds true for any attempt to enter a country where the gruesome practice of female circumcision is commonplace. The simple fact of the matter is that there are very effective means of protest which do not involve descending upon a foreign country like a swarm of locusts. The only reason the attempt was ever made is because these self-styled "humanitarians" and "activists" knew damned well that nothing bad would happen to them in Israel. So, I suspect their "humanitarianism" is tempered with a very careful look at the country which they are trying to enter. These "humanitarians" are not interested in going to Saudi Arabia, or Africa, or Syria, or El Salvador, or anyplace where they might encounter a very unpleasant time. Hypocrites is what they are. Phonies and frauds. That is all they are.
4. Flytilla and PR
RR ,   Miami   (04.16.12)
No free ride for Israel with this kind of situations. If you don't let them in you overreact and if you do let them in you have to represss their demonstrations and you end up with videos online and an officer suspended. No matter how you do it will have some bad PR. I still believe that the way it was done was the correct one. The video was unfortunate since that is what they are waiting for. The Knesset should create a committee to work on PR and make sure we do a better job on the field and preemtive work in blocking our well known "friends" and critics like Turkey, Britain, etc,ect .
5. "Detained at BG' - in the picture not BG
Edit   (04.16.12)
6. "why are we afraid of these people?
tiki ,   belgium   (04.16.12)
Nobody is "afraid of these people. It's about the principle that FOREIGN brainwashd (mostly out of work) youngsters & pensioners have not to put their noses into Israeli interior politics. Period. Israeli youngsters & pensioners also don't organise flytilla's into foreign countries to protest against that countries policies. THAT's what it is about. NOT about PR. Israel did the right thing and should continue that way. It should make clear to those brainwashed EUS & other FOREIGN IDIOTS that if they want to protest they can do it in their own countries.
7. Boycott Israel
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (04.16.12)
is a flytilla activist wearing a "boycott Israel" t-shirt a peacefull pro-Palestinian activist ? To me he looks more as an anti-Israel. Source: Belgian TV filming the check-in attempt at Brussels airport.
8. This was a NO event thanks to
kurt ,   amsterdam   (04.16.12)
the preparation prior to the action such as, getting the support from major airlines, identifying personally the names of the troublemakers "activists", and quietly escorting them to the detention center when necessary. Because of this, the impact of the press in Europe was almost nil. So this was a non event. Israel should draw lessons fom this. For once Israel properly handled this. Dont pay attention to criticism on this one.
9. Why not Protest in Gaza?
Jean-Pierre ,   Austria   (04.16.12)
Why Not Protest in Gaza against their Inhumanity against Civilians with hatred education and actions? Why Not Protest in Syria against actions against their own people? But ye choose to Protest against the Jews living in the Homeland of Ancient Israel. I wish i was a King Of Israel, i will bring that country to its boldness and rise it up strong, since all the leaders and politicians in Israel is nothing more but Jokers sucking dummies and playing around and being stupid. Where is the Laws of Truth and Righteous.
10. ISRAEL DID THE RIGHT THING..
stude ham   (04.16.12)
world opinion is worthless... especially since it is thunderously silent on the constant pali rocket attacks against israelo. the flytillists are just another bunch of hooligans bent on destructive mischief in israel.
11. PROVOCATEURS
leon ,   Britain   (04.16.12)
Really old provocateurs .You should be embarrassed
12. Where are the missing people?
leon ,   Britain   (04.16.12)
What have you done with them?
13. Again Israeli officials behave like children !
Ali ,   UK   (04.16.12)
Preventing pro Palestinians from traveling via Israel is good for us, as it shows the world the real face of -Isreali Democracy - how Isreal does not accept the freedom of speak, Isreali officials even scared from people who expressing their views, it's really good every time Isreal prevents such things attracts more media, it's really good, keep doing this. Few weeks back Isreal decided not to collaborate with the UN human rights query re the effect of Settelmets on Palestinian basic human rights - another child,s behavior - if they confident they not doing wrong things to us Palestinian why they are worried from these things, hope ynet publish my words.
14. to #3 and #10 Israel did the right thing
jo moor   (04.16.12)
Commendable comments. Would be interesting to see where their financial support comes from....Soros??. Had Israel not had a strong security presence at the airport and these hooligans di arrive in larger numbers, then totally different things would be printed about how unprepared etc etc. Rather safe than soory. Its about time that these spoilt little sh-ts were taught about respect for law and order as well as to direct their energies on humanitarian disaster areas if thats what they are about. They should apply same energies to Saudi, Syria, Sudan, Somalia ....the S- countries! Nah, they wont....its too dangerous and they would get their asses properly kicked if not permanently scorched. Have a good week all.
15. where are the missing people? #12
jo moor   (04.16.12)
Pleased to see you have some concern for these excuses for homo sapiens. Would you be concerned if they were put into solitary confinement in the negev for 30 days with just porridge and sufficient water no cellphoneor telephone, no tv, no aircon (a fan would be a luxury item with a wind up battery)? Or perhaps they can be deported to Homs or Damascus? You chose!
16. To: No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.16.12)
Uh, what does the carnage in Syria say about Arabs?
17. Aliyah? perhaps not
ASTRONAUT ,   USA   (04.16.12)
I've been planning and dreaming of making Aliyah to what I believed is, a proud and strong, self-reliant country. Reading this article about "Israeli PR" and other "diplomatic rubbish" that decimates Israeli Sovereignty, is troubling. The entire world is supplicating to the muslims on theier weak, jellyfish knees. Meir and Ben Gurion must be weeping in their graves.
18. Hope Everyone Enjoyed the Flight
Douglas Fireman ,   Chicago, USA   (04.16.12)
19. Boring
Beauchard   (04.16.12)
The media prioritizes events according to their infotainment value. Put simply: the flytilla was boring.
20. to #13 Israel doesn't have to let anyone
ghostq   (04.16.12)
to her area. it as if the UK will let the NKians in to her teritory, for free guiding tour in bakingham palace. duh
21. Diplomats are such myopic thinkers
William ,   Israel   (04.16.12)
Stopping this floptilla might have made Israel look over-reactive in European capitals, but in the Arab world it sent a strong message. To "Palestinians" it squarely showed them they failed - yet again - to circumvent the proper channels required for peace. And to the Arabs, it showed Israel is willing and able to do what it needs to in order to secure its borders. Knowing egotistical Leftists and Arabs, had this succeeded, Israel would also be in the spotlight as weak and the focus of many fictitious stories "Palestinians" would dream up - and the planning for a larger, more dangerous event would be in the works. This happened with the Flotilla, didn't it? Israeli diplomats should be thankful that today they deal with a mild uncomfortable situation rather than a major situation, thanks to the IDF.
22. #11 - it doesn't matter your age...
William ,   Israel   (04.16.12)
when you support a population who tried to justify war crimes against civilians as "Palestinians" do. Age also wasn't considered when Arab terrorists blew up restaurants and buses.
23. #12 - they're in my basement...
William ,   Israel   (04.16.12)
stitching Gucci bag knock-offs for sale in Western capitals. Their hands are good for swinging sticks, throwing rocks, and holding crudely written signs, but no good for intricate tailor work. No wonder they're unemployed.
24. #13 - "Palestinians" don't call in the UN...
William ,   Israel   (04.16.12)
unless they are sure they will win. Well, they failed with the Palmer report which justified the Gaza blockade, and they failed when the ICC said Palestine wasn't a recognized State. Your veneer of support is cracking and your failure after failure with such actions as the floptilla just show how childish you are in trying to avoid the real issues in the region. First, you need to prove you actually own the land before you can claim it was stolen. It was no coincidence that the Jewish refugee issue was just brought up as part of the peace platform - essentially throwing a wrench in your monopoly of "victimhood".
