1. So Be Hungry.
Douglas Fireman ,   Chicago, USA   (04.16.12)
Some "prisoners belonging to Hamas and other Palestinian factions have decided not to wait" but will commence their hunger strike prior to May 1st. So what?
2. 'hunger strike'
Sam M ,   UK   (04.16.12)
Israeli prisoners held captive by arabs have been held in far worse conditions than this lot as photos of palestinian prisoners on their release date show. Like the 'flytilla', 'land day' 'aid ships' and the 'million man march!' this hunger strike will also end in failure if Israel stays strong! Expect the number of prisoners taking part to be far fewer than they claim as well!
3. Extra Money for Defense
Golani ,   Vineland, USA   (04.16.12)
I hope that Israel saves the extra money that would be used for food to go back into the defense budget.
4. Give them the same conditions Hamas gave Gilad
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (04.16.12)
Lock each one of them in a hole in the ground and give them a mattress on the floor and a bucket in the corner. Shove 3 meals a day under the door. If they eat them, fine. If they choose not to, then that's their choice. I'm tired of paying for their upkeep and their free university degrees.
5. as a force for good?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (04.16.12)
maybe the prison service could stop serving the "palestinians" any food one or two days a week, and use the money that they save to pay for rehabilitation for the victims of arab terrorist attacks. i'm sure even the threat of doing something good would scare these so-called "palestinians" out of any hunger strike.

They are all there at Israels expense anyway. Even the soft, pinky Israeli legal system found them guilty. Go to blazes criminals. Useless free-loading imbeciles. Maybe their supporters can join them too?

12. predictable result of gov't weakness, stupidity
rick ,   walnut creek   (04.17.12)
when the gov't allowed a hunger strike to result in the release of a detainee, it invited all the terrorist-prisoners to try the same strategy. what would any reasonable observer have expected? ONLY THE IDIOTS OF THE GOV'T ARE SURPRISED. their capacity for surprise over the consequences of their misguided decisions is endless.

this will be the extreme and unbearable "CONCERN" to Catherine Ashton that will finally push her over the edge to such a degree that she will have to be incarcerated in a mental institution. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4191357,00.html

25. But why stop there?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.17.12)
Why not refuse water, too? I mean, if they are REALLY trying to send a message ..... wouldn't it be far more effective to refuse both food and water? If it's so-called "martyrdom" they are looking for, I think they should go all out. Unless, of course, their REAL motive is simply a get-out-of-jail-free card, and their so-called "political protest" is just another in a long list of ersatz "Palestinian" shams and pretensions. I mean, really -- what's a hunger strike without a thirst strike, too?
