31. He is a Hero and a Patriot. Love him.
usa   (04.17.12)
Thank you for doing what you doing brother.
32. I want to shake this man's hand and thank him
(04.17.12)
too bad I am not in israel now and I don't know the man. It would be an honor bigger than shaking the hand of netanyahu or barak
33. you don't mess with the military
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (04.17.12)
Regardless of what country you're in - the U.S., UK, France, when a soldier tells you to get off the road, you GET OFF THE ROAD immediately. It's for your and others safety. If a protester disobeyed a marine or British officer & got in his face he would be knocked out.
34. Pro Palestine protest in Begium
DAVID ,   BELGIUM   (04.17.12)
Today in Brussel a pro Palestine manifestation ended with a police man hitting a activist. Do you think that in Belgium the police or P.M will have a problem with this. It s time that Israel stop this nonsens and blame a good soldier who did only his duty
35. Well done Eisner. Reinstate the guy and give him a raise
Barry ,   galut   (04.17.12)
One of those scumbag protesters had a knife. Lets remember that. I have the highest respect for Eisner. He's a great guy that did a great job.
36. Seems he momentarily lost his bearings
(04.17.12)
Seems he momentarily lost his bearings and the position of the protestors who had invaded his personal space, so he reacted spontaneously autonomously forgetting almost who or what he was doing. Clearly a momentarily lapse of self control. Hje clearly realized this and moved away immediately realizing he had lost his self control in a split second. Embarrassing and unnecessary but clearly a result of tiredness and prolonged confrontation situation. Hopefully these type of incidents to be minimized with further training and situation management. we all lose our patience and temper and lash out occasionally. but at the end of the day behaviour needs to be frowned upon as below minimum acceptable standards even if explainable..
37. These EU provocateurs got what they merited
Gabriel ,   Budapest, Hungary   (04.17.12)
What the hell wanted this baby-faced blond Dane in a military operation zone? He got what he merited and also the others. They went to the Jordan Valley to support the terrorists, i.e. they knew what they could expect. Go back to Copenhagen and convert to Islam, blondie!
38. 'Ethical and moral commander?' I don't think so.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (04.17.12)
And his name is Shalom. What a joke!
39. Try this stunt anywhere else!
Jake in Jersualem ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.17.12)
I have personally witnessed people getting beaten much more forcefully and arrested in New York City by the NYPD for much, much less. This Danish anarchist would have lost most of his teeth if he tried this stunt facing an American cop - and don't even think of trying it with the US Marines. The same would be true in many countries. Israel has treated Andreas Las very gently. This is why these "anarchism tourists" love Israel - they certainly wouldn't do this anywhere else in the Middle East, where there are genuine human rights concerns!
40. I hope
Me   (04.17.12)
This bully learns to APOLOGIZE for being such a bad Israeli representative and pay the hospital bills - he puts me and everyone in our country to shame. You have to be able to deal with people in proper ways when you are an authority - otherwise you lose you job. Despicable.
41. Disgusting
John   (04.17.12)
"...Shalom Eisner has "safeguarded the values and spirit of the IDF..." Both the action of the officer and the cover-up of his supporters are absolutely disgusting.
42. Lt.-Col. Shalom Eisner is a national discrase
Haim ,   TA   (04.17.12)
This is not the kind of conduct we expect from an IDF officer. He should be dismissed from his position immediatly.
43. whose job?
Ethan Schwartz ,   Eilat   (04.17.12)
A soldier should not be doing a policeman's job. All of these foaming at the mouth talk bakers should climb back into their holes
44. Only partilly soldiers fault
lansky666 ,   Berlin Germany   (04.17.12)
The biggest mistake here, is that soldiers were put in charge of doing police work, i.e. crowd control. They are trained to fight armed militants, not protesting civilians on bikes.
45. Enemies of Israel should be treated as such
Zeiv   (04.17.12)
These people are enemies of Israel and should be treated as such, especially by a soldier. Public opinion about Israel is not going to be any more favorable if Israel castrates the IDF. If you fight against Israel, you die, or consider yourself lucky if all you got is a bump on your head.
46. STOP the nonsense.
tiki ,   belgium   (04.17.12)
The fact that some Danish out of work youngster, travels to Israel, in order to protest against it, sais it all. This guy is a provoking anti semitite who has nothing to look for in this country, for he hates every aspect of it. Col. Eisner put this provoking protester with his Arafat shawl in his proper place and should not be the center of this 'dispute, because there is no dispute! He did what he was supposed to do....,using HIS right to defend his country against provoking foreigners who think they can do everything they like in a foreign country. Shame on Israel/IDF not to stand by their colonel who was only doing his job. The 'Message of Peace' from these foreign 'activists' we can all wittness on the walls of the EL AL BUILDING. This should be the lesson for the IDF, PM & PRESIDENT and whoever else who wants to bash this colonel, only to please the Anti Semites abroad.
47. He did what should have been done a long time ago
Yoav Naor ,   Haifa Israel   (04.17.12)
He behaved impeccably and should be given a medal and promoted, instead he's being thrown to the dogs. These Danes are nasty provocateurs who are up themselves. Tell them to go and EFF themselves............
48. Denmark should condemn Danish trespasser
Cynthia ,   USA   (04.17.12)
While the IDF leadership as well as government of Israel should fully support Eisner. He acted appropriately given the circumstances and intentional provocation of these troublemakers. The outpouring of support for Col. Eisner by posters on this site and commendations by his troops must be taken into consideration. Don't let foreign trash enter Israel to intentionally cause problems for Israeli citizens, soldiers and law enforcement personnel. Do what's right for Israel!
49. Everyone settle down...
Aharon ,   Holon, Israel   (04.17.12)
First off, The IDF should not be placed with the burden of police work. Secondly, to those of you who think the Dane should have been lynched, you need to have your heads examined. Are the leftist pro-palestinian/anti-israeli protestors insane for not realizing that their protesting against the very thing they proclaim to be fighting for? (Human Rights) YES!!! However, that does not warrant the IDF acting like a bunch of thuggish gorilla's. Thirdly, As a Proud Israeli who has served his country, I am appalled that a Lt.-Col. is lacking such discipline that he felt that that was the only way he could adequately deal with the protesters. We should be a much better Army than this. If we are truly better than them, we need to act like it. Stop the self justifying, it doesn't help your/our argument/cause.
50. saw the Dane on the news and he is talking
meghan ,   israel   (04.17.12)
OK, no broken nose or puffy lips, so that whack couldnt have been that hard...mores the pity! They come to make mayhem, they have to suffer the consequences if they get pushy. Lt Col Eisner defended himself, and we can only learn from this, have our own cameras going, get it all out ASAP before the photoshop Pallywood copy. That Dane should try what he did in a non democratic country, or even the USA, it wouldnt be army, but police that he would have to deal with and they would throw him in jail until they had the time for him. Israel, please stop being a soft touch, , stop this self critizism. I am a proud Israeli and thank our IDF everyday for keeping us safe.
51. Ethical
Sagi   (04.17.12)
is not a term that can be applied to a person of authority who wears a uniform, is in charge of a situation, weilds a weapon, and uses that weapon in a violent manner. We do not live in a dictatorial regime, nor do we wish our citizens, who are entrusted with executing law and order, to conduct themselves as such. This officer should not be suspended, rather he should be dishonorably discharged and relieved of his rank without further ado.
52. ENOUGH OF BLEEDING HEARTS
DA URBAN POET ,   SAFED OPERA HOUSE   (04.17.12)
ENOUGH of the chest-beating and bleeding hearts .This danish punk got what he deserved ,in fact he deserves far worse.
53. Eisner should be promoted to General
trumpeldor   (04.17.12)
Ultimately,he should replace ehud barak . ENOUGH with the leftist nonsense .
54. I was sickened by what I saw -
miri ,   israel   (04.17.12)
Call in the police and leave the army to fight battles !
55. Its not Lt-Col. Eisner's thought.
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (04.17.12)
It’s all the governments thought, if they let these activists in then Lt.-Col. Eisner would not have needed to take the action he did. Now it’s all blown out of proportion, spread over the media and makes Israel look the bad guys. What should have happened was to let these activists in, have them sign some sort of document and escort them around Israel and see what a humane country we are compared to the inhumane Arab countries that are murdering people every day. Here expression of religious views are not restricted, Arabs pray on our streets but we cannot utter a pray on the Temple Mount a sight which is holy to the Jewish people. And tell me a country that lets “Gays” have the rights that any other person has, most Palestinian Gay Arabs try to make their way to Israel as in their lands they are treated like dirt.
56. #9
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (04.17.12)
fact: riot police anywhere in the world use much more violence with much less provocation and are supported by the system. fact: if the Dane had approached any soldier anywhere in the world in the same way, he would be dead and the soldier would be rewarded for doing his job. fact: the Dane is a professional rioter conclusion: if you don't think a Jew should be able to defend himself, why don't you go back to morrocco where muslim police will protect you.
57. Go ahead then
Mara ,   Vienna   (04.17.12)
and admit ALL of the footage, why didn't you do that right from the beginning? And don't think that experts would not realize if something is faked or cut out!
58. A strange incident
Yiannis Papazachario ,   Nicosia, Cyprus   (04.17.12)
The whole footage is very strange. There was no particular tension at that point, so the Colonel's reaction is weird. Maybe the protester said something to him or made some sort of face, mocking him? Anyway, I think the Colonel was wrong to do what he did, he should have kept his calm. But what he did was not so dramatic. It was obviously a small clip and he wasn't trying to do serious damage. If we was trying to do serious damage he would have swung his rifle. The Colonel should get a reprimand and an admistrative fine, but no more than that. And in the future, it's probably best to let the police deal with protesters/rioters. A soldier's job is not crowd control, it's exterminating the enemy. I wonder if the troops there, and the colonel were qualified to handle such cases. If not, then how can they be expected to their job properly? The police here receive special training to deal with protests/riots, including keeping their cool when people insult them/swear at them. The army does not. I'm sure it's similar in Israel, where the security forces are of a higher level than Cyprus. So why send people to do a job they were not trained for?
59. #51 sagi
(04.17.12)
funny. You were the one supporting the police when they beat non-violent Haredim. Do the words leftist and hypocrite say something to you?

john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (04.17.12)
