1. The HYPOCRISY of the MEDIA & the GOVERNMENT
Benjamin ,   Ramat HaSharon   (04.17.12)
HUNDREDS of soldiers pushed and hurt THOUSANDS of Jews as they shamelessly dragged them out of their Jewish homes in Gaza in 2005. Where was your outcry then? Shalom Eisner pushed someone AFTER he was hurt by that terrorist and the government has the chutzpah to accuse him? Israel secular government is better suitable as a government for Sodom!
2. Eisner is a hero!! He deserves a promotion!
Arthur ,   SF, CA   (04.17.12)

Good job bro.
5. The Lt. col. Did both objectives
Jerome ,   Basalt, Colorado   (04.17.12)
He Fullfilled the task and looked great on the camera doing it!
6. I have a great idea!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.17.12)
Stay home, confine yourself to protests in your native country, don't lie about your purpose for visiting the State of Israel and do not attack, throw a bicycle or otherwise interfere with an Israeli soldier who is DOING HIS JOB, and all will be well. On the bright side, the interfering Danish POS did not run into the business end of an M-16. That would have been considerably worse -- and very definitely justified -- and the best part? No whining, complaining, or crying "poor, poor, pitiful me" by a fake "humanitarian."
7. Kick 'em out
Sam M ,   UK   (04.17.12)
The only sensible course of action for Israel is to ban these thugs from entering the country or alternatively put them in prison and then deport them. This incident with Lt Col Eisner will, I hope, lead to harsher measures against these anti-semitic 'activists'. I doubt that israelis will put up for much longer with a situation where these idiots are allowed to enter the country, attack Israeli troops, defy Israel's sovereignty and have as their long term goal the destruction of Israel as Jewish state!
8. If he had to use his rifle to push the protester back better
(04.17.12)
If he had to use his rifle to push the protester back, better if he had puched back in the chest rather than the face. I ve seen a lot worse by policemen all over the world , but all violence is ugly to look at even with extreme provocation. This media victory is of of little long term consequence. Maybe they should have used tear gas on the demonstrators if they refused to move away.
9. Congratulations, Lt. Col. Eisner, you have lost more respect
Roman Kalik ,   Lod   (04.17.12)
You are in active military service - you *don't* go running to the media. That's not how it's done. Yes, you used a gun like a cold weapon, as a club. Does that mean it's okay? No. Did the circumstances maybe bring you to that end result? Maybe. Should you go around bad-mouthing your superiors in front of the cameras? No. Not in the military.
10. One thing is for sure, the truth will not come from Pallywood
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (04.17.12)
It never has but that does not stop it becoming the "facts" no matter how often they are shown to be lying slavishly & uncritically quoted by the supine media
11. israle needs eisner
milson   (04.17.12)
in order to defeat hezbollah, you need guys like eisner. You have no hope of defeating hezbollah with soldiers like olmert, haber and shalit. So eisner should use other deterrents and think more of the situation but in the end accompished his task which is mor than others have done.
12. why are these foreigners allowed to be there at all?
david ,   new york   (04.17.12)
we should jail foreign agitators and after 5 or 10 years, expell them. they also should be fined for every penny they have. these people have no business being there

16. media vs non violent.protestors.
elie ,   israel   (04.17.12)
the savagery of the army under orders in amona did not get such good coverage as this somewhat questionable incident.
17. One picture is worth a thousand words ,...
split ,   US   (04.17.12)
Take a good look at the picture and get a clue how he messed up his right fist bandaged later for cameras blaming a peaceful protester with his hands down (non-aggressive pose) and no threat to a twice his size armed senior officer surrounded by armed soldiers. A peaceful protester gets a sucker punch with M-16 and still called a terrorist and all kind of nasty names to demonise him and legitimise the outburst of out of control bully. Anyone wonders why the primitive, "in your face" hasbara crap tossed against the wall of public scrutiny doesn't stick ? ,...
18. caving in
observer ,   Egypt   (04.17.12)
Surah 59:14 They will not fight you (even) together, except in fortified townships, or from behind walls. Strong is their fighting (spirit) amongst themselves: thou wouldst think they were united, but their hearts are divided: that is because they are a people devoid of wisdom.
19. Mr. Eisner : A real Tzadik, if there ever was one !!
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (04.17.12)
20. What is wrong with the IDF???
Dan ,   Florida - Tel Aviv   (04.17.12)
Israel was under attack. Is a large throng of "infantile activists" pushing across a well defined border into a sovereign country not an invasion? What the hell is wrong with you? Rather than tanks, they are using humans to attack and destroy Israel. At some point a physical response is required and OH, By the way, the aggression STOPPED. Has anyone noticed that?
21. Be careful...
Aaron ,   S. Carolina, USA   (04.17.12)
The M-16 isn't built for that kind of abuse. He could have bent or crimped the buffer tube casing in the stock and made the weapon inoperable, and it didn't appear that he had one of the rifles with a reinforced stock. While I commend the LTC's actions, I am concerned that the rifle was potentially more damaged than the anarchist.
22. Arrogant. This is the typical Israeli type of response.
Dovid ,   los angeles   (04.17.12)
'What's more important, fulfilling the task or looking good for the camera?'
23. Lt. Col. Eisner
Norman ,   Atlit Israel   (04.17.12)
Cheers for Lt. Col. Eisner. He has shown us all that we will not submit to terrorist thugs lying down. We did that in 1940 to 1945. It will not happen anymore. Please take note Bibi and Knesset. Praise to Eisner and the IDF. Norman Atlit
24. activists SAM UK
DANNY TAWIL ,   ENGLAND   (04.17.12)
PUT THEM TO WORK IN TIMNA IN THE SWELLTERING HEAT FOR A FEW WEEKS AND RIG UP A FEW TENTS AND LET THEM SLEEP A MINIMAL 8 HOURS. BUT FEED THEM WELL BECAUSE WHEN YOU WORK IN TIMNA LIKE I DID IN 1957 YOU NEED FOOD FOR THE STRENGHT TO DIG. DANNY.
25. Eisner's remarks
Joe Charlap ,   Jerusalem   (04.17.12)
What absolute rubbish! What a stupid thing to say! Its not about endangering life, its about striking an unarmed person viciously n the face with a rifle, made worse by the fact that he wears a kippa.
26. PROOF
Reuven ,   Petach Tikvah   (04.17.12)
I don't want to take sides as I don't know all the facts. However I would like to see an X-ray of Eisner's 'broken hand'. If his hand has such injuries, I would say that he has no case to answer, except for being a little too zealous with his rifle. It seems simple enough to me.
27. #9 - the media came to him
William ,   Israel   (04.17.12)
and sadly, it was Eisner's superiors that put him on the defensive needlessly. Eisner took responsibility for his actions, he explained the situation especially where he was attacked, and asked why no one even talks about his injuries which did not come from himself. Eisner used his weapon as a stick to protect himself and regain control of a belligerent, violent crowd that outnumbered his troop. Weakness, on camera and in person will only put his troops in more danger. Is that the military you wish to have in Israel?
28. the question is not whether Col. Eisner should have
allan ,   canada   (04.17.12)
reacted or not. It is whether he used excessive force in that situation or not. Could he have accomplished his goal by acting differently and using less force?
29. To: No. 17
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.17.12)
He was a criminal, because he entered Israel giving a false purpose for his visit. Striking someone with a stick and throwing a bicycle at them scarcely qualifies as "peaceful protest." Moreover, they were attempting to pass on a road which the military had closed -- precisely because they knew that protesters would be violent. Ever hear of Kent State, asshole? Now those WERE peaceful protesters, unlike the European crap that violates Israeli law at every turn. If you want to come to Israel, you must expect to abide by Israeli law. If you cannot do that; don't come. So shut up.
30. i support you fully. rest are wrong.
