31. The right thing
Glenn ,   Tel Aviv   (04.18.12)
All very well attacking the decision but two wrongs do NOT make a right. Eisner's stupid brutality lowered the level of his rank and of the army. It is conduct unbecoming of an officer of his rank - he should go!
32. Gantz is a pathetic leftist
Gilon   (04.18.12)
This is really too harsh punishment just for hitting a European guy who came unnecessarily close to the officer provoking the response. If people like Gantz keep acting like a leftist, one day Israel will be in trouble.
33. To #21 - More advice from armchair generals?
Canadian lawyer ,   Toronto, Canada   (04.18.12)
My dear Sarah - I assume that you haven't spent a single nanosecond of your life in a Zahal uniform. Tell me, do you have anything personally at risk when you spout this over-the-top nonsense - shared by perhaps 5% of Israelis - from the safety of (let me guess) Brooklyn? Of does the price for your extremism have to be paid for by the blood of young Israelis, like my nieces and nephews?
34. eisner should be promoted!
oded ,   us of A   (04.18.12)
not demoted. tha's insane to relieve a highly capabable officer over the danish incident!
35. Eisner is a hero!
Efraim ,   Virginia   (04.18.12)
Eisner to Israel is what Marines are to USA. With guys like Eisner you can win a war, not with softy lefties. There should be demstrations for Eisner. Maybe Eisner can make money with this whole thing via the media and then give it to charity.
36. The punishment is right!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (04.18.12)
Not because the Danish terrorist supporter was right. That scum got what he deserved! But Lt.-Col. Eisner is being punished for his stupidity for falling so easily into a PR Trap. Soldiers should always be aware of these traps, as they represent the most effective arm of Israel and Jew haters. With this punishment IDF is sending a strong message to all soldiers not to fall into the same trap. I fully agree!
37. Gantz Peres Barak
Joe sombrero ,   Usa   (04.18.12)
They are all traitors pawns for other countries. If this had been a settler hurt there would have been silence.
38. Three cheers for LT Col Eisner
Esteban ,   Argentina   (04.18.12)
I'm with you Colonel and the State of Israel also supports you.
39. Its a shame.
Liz Biggin ,   Rotherham, UK   (04.18.12)
Israel has lost a valuable, experienced army officer just in order to placate the international media and the same lowlife protestors who are defending terrorists in Judea & Samaria. Another nail in Israel's coffin.
40. Bad new
Luis ,   Madrid   (04.18.12)
Bad new, the psychiatrists have a lot of work with us. why chase to our defenders again and again ??? are we crazy??
41. To #5 christianpalestinian
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (04.18.12)
If you are really a Christian, then you should know that the Bible - The 5 Books of Moses - says that Eretz Yisrael belongs to the Jewish people. It is the Arabs who are the occupiers.
42. IDF should learn from Eisner about "completing" the mission
Cynic ,   USA   (04.18.12)
Something they failed to in Lebanon in 2006 and Gaza in 2008
43. Is the IDF brass "ethics" treason to Israel?
Ya'acov ,   Be'er Sheva   (04.18.12)
Something very fishy is coming out of the halls of our government and high echelons of the IDF. For them it is OK the intolerable brutality against our heroic settlers, but it is "terrible" when one of our officers stand to these highly trained professional terrorist-supporters. Their allegiance is certainly not deposited on our side, but on the side of our Arab enemies and their Antisemitic American and Euro trash. In my book, and in the book of many all around the world, their stand is equivalent to treason. They should all be demoted and completely kicked out of their evilly-held positions of power, since they do not have the honor necessary to stand down and go serve openly the foreign interest which they with so much assiduously serve. Shame on them! May their memory be blotted out from the annals of our nation.
44. #5 If you only wanted your own state you would have had it
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (04.18.12)
63 years ago.Your harmless peace loving innocent victims story is just that. Now tell your leaders to turn up and negotiate peace and borders. They evade talks because they know they cannot deliver. You cant even stop killing each other. Forget colonising both States with millions of Arabs despite decades of Arab apartheid and false promises
45. What Happened
Hertzel ,   Tveria   (04.18.12)
To the code of conduct in the battle for the state? the code that say "you do not leave or abandon your fellow fighter, GANTZ???? WHY ARE YOU CAPITULATING TO THE LEFTIST AND ANTI SEMITE? THEY WILL NOT EVER FIGHT FOR OUR LAND, THEIR MISSION IS TO DISTORT ISAAEL.
46. disgusted
european   (04.18.12)
"Eisner is seen on the bottom right of the screen, knocking down a female protester. He is then seen striking the Danish activist" and this creature who hits women and youths was a candidate to head some military academy if i get it right?? why isn't he dismissed from the army? you people are unbelievable.
47. If Eisner enters politics, then he will be
jason white ,   afula, israel   (04.18.12)
sure to have more mandates than ehud buraq. I hope we have a strong right Zionist coalition after the next elections. If they remove all the general staff and strip them of their rank and pension, that would be justice. And send all military lawyers to the most dangerous areas. Let them see what real soldiers face daily. And they can put bibi and buraq in prison forever. They are a disgrace to our country. I want to know where Eisner's soldiers were? We would never allowed anyone to diss our officers. The danish dog would have had his jaw broken as well as his hands. Why wasn't the dane arrested. Why are foreign agitators as well as "israeli" ones not busted, beaten and put in prison? Why are illegal occupiers like the palis allowed to demonstrate on our Jewish land?
48. Shalom Eisner
Gabe ,   Canada   (04.18.12)
Shalom Eisner should be a candidate at the next elections.
49. Eisner's pubishment :
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (04.18.12)
I agree with this punishment - there is no room for violent temper in the field or in protests. Eisner needed to control himself, not lash out at person next to him. He saw red at that moment (saw it on video) and don't know if he really identified person he was hitting. Could have been one of our own in that heated moment.
50. Made the haters happy
Ilan   (04.18.12)
That is all a coward like Gantz is capable of
51. to 28
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (04.18.12)
Are you epilepsic or something..? Well done by Barak and Bibi, you mean, in giving in to another intimidation and threat to the Jewish State ? You are either from the other side or having a slave syndrom...But when a group or a person is crossing my country with an intent of causing my country harm, there is no other action, then what Eisner, the IDF Officer has done, within his authority...So Shut the f...ront "door" ..., whoever you are...
52. Eisner should...
Daromi ,   Tel Aviv   (04.18.12)
...have done it with no one looking. These pro-Pally agitators should get what they deserve - a kick to the head. If you get too close to a cop in NYC (or anywhere) you'll get a nightstick to the head, as well. Don't make the IDF into a bunch of sissies, please...they are all we've got left between us and them...sure as hell our politicians are not going to get out there and defend Israel if they have to, they will be hiding in a bunker. If this situation was Israel 1948 or even 1968 this wouldn't even be news!
53. To #7
Stan ,   Israel   (04.18.12)
The IDF was also shooting a video. Why arn't we shown their video?????? They said that the battery ran down - how inconvenient ! Maybe they did not want to confirm that the protesters were right.
54. lt-col. eisner
les ,   canada   (04.18.12)
there is nothing to "consider". that army brass does not deserve your service, you should quit on them and start your own SECURITY SERVICE! guarranty you will be aprecciated for the job you do.
55. We need another party
ESTER ,   MELBOURNE   (04.18.12)
maybe he will iniciate a new political party. The RIGHT PARTY, its time now to have a more gutsy party, and he should be the head of it
56. #5 Christian, I would agree
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.18.12)
if and when you can show me where Palestine is mentioned at least once in your Queeran
57. To #23
Stan ,   Israel   (04.18.12)
Shimon, how do YOU propose we solve the Palestinian problem??????? Please make it feasable, not just spewing hopes and hatred! Professor Leibowitz said more than 40 years ago "occupation morally destroys the occupier" He has been proven correct thousands of times. Hatred of Israel grows from year to year. Its called anti Semitism, but you all know that this is not so.
58. What would have made Gantz happier?
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (04.18.12)
When the Dane approached Eisner getting that close to him, was Eisner expected to wait for a knife to be pulled. No! He created a distance between them in the only possible way. Up to that point did words create that distance? Gantz would have been happier had Eisner been knifed. Now this POS has to do without a photo festival visiting the "brave" officer in hospital.
59. #6 Avramele
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.18.12)
The infilatrator that he hit, entered Israel under false pretenses As such, he was guilty of giving false information to Immigration & then defied a directl order in a military zone It's a shame that the weapon used was a bit hearvier, like a Berrett .50
60. #20 Haim TA
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.18.12)
A fine example of law would have been if the fellow that got hit, hadn't entered the country under false pretense, lying to immigration to do it Second case, his respect for Law would have been by him not refusing a direct order to disperse
