31. The IDF is becoming a laughing stock
Al   (04.18.12)
No way, could todays IDF win 1967 all over again. Gantz Barak and that super putz NEtanyahu must go if Israel is to survive. These three petz are leading Israel to the abyss. It is no coincidence that young people no matter what their ideology happens to be are refusing to join this army. That is how pathetic and low it has sunk. Without the IDF Israel is cooked. It will end up being destroyed. Israel is on very thin ice here. Its time to clean house. The rot in the PM office is sinking Israel. Elections now for Israels survival.
32. #16--wrong just the same
Naftush ,   Israel   (04.18.12)
#1 didn't limit himself to a call for tshuva. He usurped Hashem's place and laid the tragedy at the feet of the Jewish national enterprise. His words stank of sneering satisfaction at the thought of Hashem's righteous revenge against the victim z"l. The moderator might have done better to leave his comment up so that those joining the debate would appreciate how it started.
33. And you guys think that you can...
Avi ,   NYC, USA   (04.18.12)
...attack Iran?
34. so sad

words fail me. my condolences to family Bezaleli.

Mind telling me the connection between a construction accident and a military strike?
36. Design Saftety is one of those issues, which
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (04.18.12)
unfortunately, are not taken seriously enough in Israel in general. Permit processing in the government is not handled by professionals and is thus rubber stamped with disastrous consequences. Lateral forces caused by a wind of this nature must definitely be encorporated into the design of such a temporary structure.

a heavy stone indeed   (04.18.12)
i don't think there was any sneering satisfaction--certainly not over this terrible tragedy over this beautiful young woman. #1 just struck a nerve with a legitimate reflection. these events are not revenge--always a wake up call on any level you want to go to. we don't know why a person is suddenly pulled out of this world in a certain way, that is not our business or cheshbon. undoubtedly she was a very holy soul that completed her mission here. we all go back eventually. heartfelt condolences to the family. it is a very sad tragedy for everyone left back here. yes, the moderator should have left #1 up. there are more offensive comments that are left posted.
38. @33 don't get ur broad reach into another topic...
Jew ,   JewLandia   (04.18.12)
but to answer your question. Yep! Here's my proof 1. we're still here despite Hitler really trying hard to wipe us out! 2. we're still here despite the efforts of all the combined arab armies direct attacks against us in 7 wars 3. we're still here despite the efforts of the Palestinians to terrorize and murder us in two intifadas and hundreds of terrorist attacks 4. we're still here despite the constant attacks from the Gaza Strip further proof: 1. We attacked Iraq and took out their nuclear reactor 2. We attacked Syria and took out their nuclear reactor 3. We have the best little airforce in the whole wide world. all that said I agree with #35 what's your point?
39. #16
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (04.18.12)
Your remarks and those of #1 remind me of the hideous, twisted words of one of our more fanatical rabbis following the collapse of the floor of a wedding hall, where a celebration was in progress in 2002The shmuck actually said that the 24 innocent people killed in that tragic incident met their fate because men and women were dancing together. Sickening. I believe in G-d, but not in the petty, vindictive Jehovah you lot apparently espouse..

Back in the 1980s, there was a horrible collision between a school bus and a train near Petach Tikva, I think it was, and some rabbi came out and said that all those children died because their parents were not "religious enough." While there is no denying that the Jewish people have contributed a fair number of geniuses to the gene pool, there is also no denying that we have contributed some pluperfect idiots as well.

a heavy stone indeed   (04.18.12)
it is not about vindictiveness or punishing the victims of tragedy. it is a broader point of whenever tragedy strikes it is time for soul searching because events are not random. for jews, it is a world of purpose even when we don't have all the whys figured out. judaism is not hideous. a faith-challenger yes. when rabbis say things like this, it is usually taken out of context and distorted in the effort to force their words into small petty lines of thought.
42. Just so sad
Aryeh ,   USA   (04.18.12)
This is just so very tragic. As a parent and fellow human being I grieve along with her family and friends.
43. #33, NYC, USA interesting considering its
meghan   (04.18.12)
the super power trying to push us into attacking Iran...BUT this iks not the issue here. A young beautiful girl serving in the IDF who had a dream is now a tradgic nightmare. A thought for her famly please and remember her dream and her love of the IDF and helping folks. Beleive me Avi, now in NYC, we are thinking of a lot more than bloody Iran. May Hilas, family know no more sorrow. We mourn parents, sibs, but to loose a child is the worst thing to happen, something I personally would never come to terms with. blessed be the house of Israel and all her people at this sad time.
44. My condolances to Hila's family and friends
Ezra ,   SanDiego   (04.18.12)
May she rest in peace, and many attend her parents Shiva to comfort them.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.19.12)
No normal person ever comes to terms with the loss of a child. (Unless, of course, you are a parent who encourages your child to become a suicide bomber and martyr, which is sick beyond belief. No shortage of THAT among Israel's degenerate and depraved neighbors, particularly with the added disgusting kicker of a $10,000 payout.) No parent should have to bury a child (let alone WANT to bury a child). It distorts the natural order of things. And burying one's child is not something whose pain dulls with the passage of time. It is always a sharp knife in the heart. Any parent who feels differently has no business bringing children into the world. No comment for the moment as to the "parents" to whom I refer. We all know, anyway.
46. Planning and quality control failure
Byebyeobama   (04.19.12)
Typical Israeli "just do it" approach - cheep and cheerful, but tragic in the end.
47. #22 You've yet to master telepathy, Mahmood

48. Yesterday, in the north . . .
nibor ,   israel   (04.19.12)
the winds were so strong, I could barely close my car door, causing me to wonder if my car was heavy enough to withstand strong winds. Over 20 years ago trees fell on the childrens' houses in my kibbutz, the winds were so strong. Humans were not responsible for that. Lucky for us, no trees fell on people and no electric lines fell and hurt anyone. The country is in a hurry to grow and takes on much too much, but accidents always happen due to circumstances beyond our control, the weather being one of them. If we were so careful we never did anything until all situations were thoroughly examined, imagine how many more people would be killed by not addressing their needs and not moving forward.
49. Here is the great possibility
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (04.19.12)
for general Gantz to punish real perpetrators. And he should ask excuse from Shalom Eisner.
