Tomek ,   Poland   (04.18.12)
"The Poles will be making millions thanks to the six million Jews". Apart from the ugliness of this comment, it is also factually incorrect. Not all all Jews who perished in WWII did so in Poland, let alone Auschwitz. Besides, not all who were exterminated in this camp were Jewish. Note that Christians visit Jerusalem and Bethlehem en masse, too. I leave to the author to figure out who makes money there and thanks to what.
2. exactly Tomek
Justine ,   Montreal   (04.18.12)
"The Poles may not like those Israelis". Did the author do any studies on that? And if some of them don't, maybe it's because some Israelis who come to their land view them with hostility and contempt like the author of this article? And btw, some 10 million tourists visit Poland every year, needless to say most of them aren't Jews. So those who go to Poland while their heart bleeds at the thought of "how much money Poles make", by all means don't come. We'll manage.
3. #1 and #2 -- Attitudes seem to be the same
Abraham ben Jacob ,   Canada   (04.18.12)
If you ever had to give back the Jew's properties , businesses, homes that were "taken over" by some of the gentile Poles, your smug attitude would disappear. Many Poles benefitted financially from the misery and murder and deportation of their Jewish neighbors.
4. "livelihood of Polish tourism" - nonsense
Justine ,   Montreal   (04.19.12)
Just checked the stats. 13 million tourists in Poland in 2011, mostly from Germany and other neighboring countries, left 5 billion dollars. The author just uses cliches, doesn't bother with any facts.
5. Silly comments
Yisraeli   (04.19.12)
Because you simply dont understand history and the indelible mark it made on us. You take a simple sentence but cannot fathom its true meaning. So lets clarify even for the younger Poles who did not know. Hatred of Jews in Poland was 'breast fed' to most poles. And I am referring to the time period leading to WW2. The Poles were mostly religious Catholics and hatred of Jews were spoon fed to generations by the church and clergy especially to the general peasantry. Anti-semitism occurred au natural to the Pole of the time and sure there would have been some exceptions but we always knew where we stood when it came to the non Jewish Poles. The hatred was so strong that even some Jewish survivors who managed by some fluke to survive the holocaust only to be murdered and massacred by their neighbors after returning to theyre pre-war towns and this was "after" the war. Why do you think there were no religious Jews in Poland after the war, yet in many other places even in Germany some returned and remained, but not in Poland. Many Jews/Israelis experienced Polish anti semitism first hand decades after the war when visiting the historic sites in Poland. How many have heard the slur 'Zhid'. Perhaps you have learned and changed somewhat lately but pardon us for keeping a weary eye on you. As Jews, we experience the same hurt our ancestors did even if we did not actually physically experience it. We have long memories because we have a very long history, sadly with much persecution, even today many seek our blood only by refined means of targeting Israel. We forget nothing, and thats collectively.

LOOK UP HOLOCAUST ON YOUTUBE (AS WELL AS VIMEO, METACAFE, DAILYMOTION, GOOGLE VIDEO, ETC.) AND YOU WILL SEE THAT RATHER THAN TAKING THEM DOWN, GOOGLE IS ALLOWING THESE MESSAGES OF HATE TO FLOURISH. THEY ARE HIGH TECH PRODUCTIONS NOT CHEAP CAMERA OPINION PIECES. LEARN TO FLAG EACH OF THEM YOU SEE. IT IS AN UPHILL BATTLE AND NO ONE IS PAYING ATTENTION.

Enter on google "Israeli teenagers are a nuisance in Poland" and find out why ? The grownups are not much better, Google "Group of Israeli ultra-Orthodox vandalize death camp in Poland" ,... Perhaps you wouldn't mind to tell us how do they make those millions - Concentration camps maintenance is subsidised by Polish and German taxpayers, Israelis are coming in kosher or charter planes, rent kosher buses eat in kosher restaurants owned by Jews or Jewish organisations, hotels insurance is up, profits are down ,...

Please stop. I am a Jewish Canadian. My wife and stopped in Poland last year on our way to Israel. We were most impressed by the Poles we met, their interest in Israel (in Warsaw last June in the Old Town there was a display about famous Polish/Jewish Israeli's for all to see), a new museum on the 1000 year history of Polish Jewry was under construction. Yes, we know the history. There appears to be some sort of attempt at reconciliation taking place. Let's encourage it!
9. 5 - How many have heard the slur 'Zhid'.
split ,   US   (04.19.12)
You're so ignorant in Polish-Jewish affairs you don't have a clue that Polish name (not a slur)f for Jew is Zyd (Zhid). After 800 years together 3/4 of them couldn't communicate in native language and 90% couldn't write a sentence. Forget their loyalty or rather lack of it, they didn't pay taxes, didn't serve in Armed Forces and welcomed every invader that showed up at Polish borders including Nazis and Commies. If the Poles were so bad why there were more Jews in Poland than the rest of Europe ? Spare us your crap - It's your tribe that got kicked out of 109 countries and places since 250 AD and an ugly individuals like you is one of the reasons why ,...

11. Ugly Polish antisemitism on Ynet
Andrei ,   Romania   (04.19.12)
Split - you couldn't stop short of actually confirming what most Jews fear - that Poles continue being antisemitic. To blame it on the Jews that we've been systematically oppressed and killed, and keep a blind eye to the fact that organized Christianity had a project in keeping the people under its control as they were (dumb, murderous) - thus changing nothing from the times before, when these were polytheistic - is stupid. Regarding "Christians visit Jerusalem and Bethlehem en masse, too. I leave to the author to figure out who makes money there and thanks to what." : yeah, its because of another dead Jew. Which you can't even respect, by not hating his brethren.

You are the one who is ignorance of Jewish contributions to Poland. Your hatred of Jews is appalling, you sound like an ignorant peasant. I am a child of 2 Polish Jewish Holocaust survivors, according to my mother (still living and knows best), Jews were conscripted into the Polish army just as Poles were, I have pictures of my father in his Polish army uniform. My mother's brother was conscripted into the Polish army. Jewish soldiers fought side by side with Polish soldiers when Germany invaded Poland. My mother's Jewish uncles served in the Polish army during WW1. If you need proof, I am sure you can get all the documents you need from the Polish military archives. Yes, Jews got kicked out of many countries for 2 thousand years, not for not being loyal citizens, but for the ignorance of the Christian masses which was ignited in churches every Sunday to hate Jews. Most Jews spoke a perfect Polish and paid taxes which were especially higher for Jews. Split, your heart is full of ignorance and hate, you need a dose of some good Jewish history, learn of Jewish contributions to the good of mankind.

michael Pielet ,   Israel   (04.19.12)
Result growing hatred of Israel, growing hatred of the Jew. Nifla, wonderful. The universal message, what is it? Do not make the holocaust the cornerstone of the Jewish people, this is a terrible mistake. Rememberance yes. these trips to Poland with Jewish youth from Israel, the U.S., etc. are a terrible mistake. What are we doing by going to the places of death and destruction. These places have been sanitized. They are not as they were. Much better to read books written by survivors, historians, or to listen to the stories of survivors. Zachor, remember always, but not this way.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.20.12)
Really? What "good reason?" The fact that we have always prefer to die as Jews than live as anything else? For three hundred years, Europeans switched their faith from Catholic to Protestant and back to Catholic then back to Protestant depending on the religious persuasion of the monarch. Faith was a matter of expedience to Christians; nothing more. Or is it simply jealousy of Jewish contributions to civilization, despite incredible persecution and oppression? 'nuff said.

You're far from being an expert on Jewish-Polish affairs. Most of my Polish relatives were not only fluent in Polish but Yiddish and French. Jews served in the armed forces and under certain leaders, were forced to join. Only heard stories of over taxation. They paid more than their fair share. Jews of Poland created advanced centers of learning and independent communities. The pogroms served as constant reminders of the ignorance and hatred of their Polish neighbors and made them want to live separately. We've mastered the art of survival and outlive our enemies. You troll this site 24/7 posting insults and misinformation to no avail.
18. Sarah - really?
Justine ,   Montreal   (04.20.12)
15's comment is stupid but you chose a weird argument. First of all quite a lot of Jews switched faith during centuries. What's the intermarriage rate in the US again? Second, Christian minorities survived in difficult environments like Lebanon or Egypt and a lot of Christians worldwide were able to die (or kill) in order not to change their believes. And third, you compare switching RELIGION with switching DENOMINATION. Not quite the same thing. I think a lot of Jews would switch their halacha if their well-being depended on it. How much would you suffer for your right to dress (or not) tznius? And as events in Israel show (the argument about women singing in the IDF, segregated buses, etc.) Jews do not always agree on religion and some seem happy to force their ways on their coreligionists.

against Jews. Church business is BIG business. To maintain control of wealth and power, hatred is used as a tool by Churches.

Dear lady. At first, I hope you are not angry with me. I admire your firmness and your zeal for your country and your people. At second, I repeat that all decent and conscious men and women, and all true Christians around the world, like me, do repudiate awful anti semitism. Israel belongs to you, of course, but to us, too, on a "small part". Jesus, Mary and Joseph were Jews. Torah and Old Testament are the same. I apologize for any word that could hurt you. Take me always as a friend and a brother. Warm salutes.

Their homes confiscated, children taken away, murdered for being Jewish. They weren't murdered because they couldn't get along or didn't pay taxes. It was the hateful mentality you share that allowed this sickness to prevail. I wonder what your Polish relatives were doing during the Holocaust? Were they Nazi supporters, enablers, on the German payroll? Surely not righteous gentiles. And you split, what has been your personal experience with Jews? Did any of my Jewish brothers and sisters ever harm you? In your words, what is the basis for your very negative sentiment toward us?

Mommy and daddy must have provided quite an education for you. Anti-semitism is not innate. You were taught to hate and carry the torch for what was fed to you in your home. One can only imagine the steady diet of anti-Jewish sentiment. Left you with mush for brains.

Walt ,   NJ,USA   (04.20.12)
First, this article is written with anti-Polish sentiment. Second yes there are anti-Semites in Poland that hate everyone including their own government. Third, both nations/religions were Hitler's #1 and #2 enemy so its silly how they are blaming eachother. Fourth, World War II in Poland unlike in the rest of the world did not end in 1945 but in 1956 after 11 bloody years of civil war of free (pre war Poles including Jews) defending their homeland against the Stalinist Soviet occuping forces and their Communist puppet goverment thet besides Russians included Poles ans Jews. Fifth, that same government condoned violence against its citizens in many forms such as a citizen vs a citizen and gov vs a citizen. Thousands of people were murdered and their property confiscated no matter what their religion is. Sixth, not only Jews feom Israel or US are still waiting for the return of their property, many Catholic and atheist Poles are waiting as well-Polish goverment returnes those properties on one-by-one bases through the courts not by an universal parliamentary resolution. (I am not a Jew, my grandmother lost her business when it was nationalized and guess what? We cannot get it back as it no longer exists!). Eight, "Polish" Comunist goverment condoned those purges against the surviving Jews to "accomodate" displaced Poles from the East when the borders shifted after the war which Poland lost. (that was their intention). Nineth, this antiSemitism was very common in all if not most Communist occupied countries. Best example is the masive Jewish exhoudous from the Soviet Union in the late 1980s. As a persecuted minority they were let out when no one alse was allowed nowhere near outside the wall. Tenth, finally in today's free and democratic Poland is time to initiate a common dialogue and revrite our history books to include things that our children from both sides are not even aware existed/occured.
