falafel ,   hummus   (04.25.12)

3. Demilitarized Palestine?
Susya Bar Dror ,   Israel   (04.25.12)
Yes, its possible to run future Palestine without military. But, as soon as Palestine is independent, it will be flooded with missiles, weapones and terrorists. Palestine will claim that it is the naturaly right of palestinians to kill Israelis and Jews. Its all written in the quran.
5. Israel has never, never sought to rule over other people for
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.25.12)
the sake of ruling over other people!! Israel has never, never sought to subjugate other people! Israel, indeed, has never been involved in any military action for the sake of conquering territory for conquest's sake! Nor has Israel has ever been involved in seeking to conquer territory for the sake of obtaining access to natural resources! All that Israel has ever asked has been to live in peace and security as the independent nation-state of the Jewish people, as has been prescribed for it by the San Remo conference, by the League of Nations and by the United Nations Charter, Article 80 of 1945. Sadly, the Muslim-Arab world that surrounds Israel has not been able to accept such a modest exercise of rights by the Jewish people.
6. I think Netanyahu has a pretty good handle on things.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (04.25.12)
7. @ 4
Ian ,   Germany   (04.25.12)
Don't worry, Israel got Iron Dome .. lol. Shimon Peres said that missiles can be sent from quite far away, as far as Alaska. Iron doom should be all over Israel .. lol
8. is Netanyahu Jewish or Zionist?
observer ,   Egypt   (04.25.12)
Jewish law does permit some non-Jews to reside in the land of Israel under certain conditions, which can be summed up thus–”must pay taxes and accept suffering, humiliation and servitude” as expressed by Mordechai Nisan of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem who relied upon the law of Maimonides which demands that a non-Jew be held down, that he not raise his head against Jews, that no non-Jews may be appointed to any office or position of power over Jews, and if such non-Jews refuse to live under these conditions then this is a signal of disobedience which necessitates Jewish warfare against them in cleansing the land of Israel of their presence.
9. 3, do you mean it is not in the Torah "Israel is Jewish land
observer ,   Egypt   (04.25.12)
10. #2 falafel Yehudah & Shomron is part of the Jewish country
Benjamin ,   Ramat HaSharon   (04.25.12)
like the newly founded Arab group known as "Palestinians" is part of Jordan. For peace sake, you should go back to your homeland and enjoy your falafel and hummus there.
11. Hold on a moment!!!!!!!!!!
Ram ,   London   (04.25.12)
What the h**l is Netanyahu saying? He is being asked if the Palestinians can have ONE contiguous piece if land to be called Palestinian, " not pieces like Swiss cheese". How's he going to join Gaza and the WB? Is he actually suggesting a corridor cutting Israel in half? That is probably what SHE means!!! After all she does work for CNN!
12. tried this already and failed
junk food   (04.25.12)
Israel tried this "going out" strategy few times- Followed the UN map and left Lebanon. War and terrorists attacks became worst. Tried in Gaza and received thousands of missiles on cities. Signed peach with Egypt and now wonder how much this "paper worth". The problem with Europeans and Americans that they think about arabas countries like they are Canada or Scotland, and not understand that in Israel's region people are still 500 years behind.
13. No PA state would remain demilitarized for more than 2 weeks
Tzi min ha seret ,   Israel   (04.25.12)
stop dreaming and get back to rality. It will be a giant Gaza and there is no way Israel would be able to stop it. And just like we aren't retaking Gaza or Sinai. Once the deal is made there is no going back.
14. Maybe A Breakthrough
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (04.25.12)
Maybe this is a breakthrough. Netanyahu will have to explain this a lot to Israelis. This stuff about the Palestinians is real news. Maybe this will be in his letter to Abbas. This was not in anything Netanyahu said to the US Congress. Is this Netanyahu's Etch-a-Sketch moment? Like Romney had tonight?
15. A demiliterized PA state????? Are you joking????
Rediculous comment ,   Israel   (04.25.12)
Are you smoking something illegal? No sovereign state would accept such a demand. Even if the PA did say ok (just to trick Israel into signing) it wouldn't keep the promise.... or like in Gaza they would say... it's the militants who are shooting rockets and have all the weapons (like Hizbollah in Lebanon), it's those guys, not us, not the government. Get real.
16. 2 States for 2 Peoples ...
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.25.12)
... equals apartheid & leftist racism. Keep it up and you may win the Nobell Tyrant Award yet!
17. @Observer
deavman ,   Acco, Israel   (04.25.12)
I think you need your observation skills sharpened as apparently you are looking through your local Egyptian newspaper lenses...Delusion is the modus operandi in the Muslim world..
18. 100% right on!
Hippocrates ,   Earth   (04.25.12)
19. #8 observer, Egypt
galilean ,   Israel   (04.25.12)
Are you aware that there are Arab or Druze Israeli citizens serving as judges and peace officers? They also serve in the IDF and our hospitals and health clinics are full of wonderful doctors and nurses and technicians that are not Jewish. There are also many excellent non Jewish dentists serving the public. The building trade here from engineers to manual labor is dominated by non Jews! I am not saying that life is perfect for our non Jewish citizens, but it's certainly not oppressive! So much depends on our perspective in life. If you want to play the victim you can always find someone to blame. Happy Israeli Independence Day!
20. Jordan is Palestine- LET CNN KNOW
Jordan is ,   EAST Bank, Palestine   (04.25.12)
21. secuity impossibel wiht plo state
marcel   (04.25.12)
scion and eldad have described the situation via history and security very well. israeli history is clear and palestinian historical claims are only recent, artificial and will have their solution in jordan. In israel there can be no deal as the past 18 years prove clearly and eveyr negotiation sees israel's claim to the land reduce. It was never palestinain land period. bibi was taken as peres, and olmert because they are weak. demograpyhic yellers can rest easy. west bak will be annexed and arab residents will be citizens of jordan, end of story. many will rightfully leave over time and end of story.
22. Thank G-d no 'talks'
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (04.25.12)
'Secret elections' in Gaza, Abbas who's a no show, and all the while rockets and rhetoric is all the pals offer. Until all pals begin by recognizing Israel's right to exist on HER land, there is no reason for any talks, Until the attacks from Gaza, the Sinai, etc. ends there is no reason for talks. The very pre-conditional demands that Israel ends all settlement activities of building echoing the saudi plan obama, clinton, penatta, the pals, hell, it's a hallelujah chorus of out of tune, out of touch pro islamic front men voicing the same rejected saudi 'demands' of Israel's enemies, including obama- who treats Israel as the enemy rather than any where near treating Israel as our ally. See why Americans will be VOTING ROMNEY????
23. Netanyahu has no business being Likud's leader.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.25.12)
Likud's Constitution clearly endorses the massive Jewish settlement of our ancestral heartland of Judea and Samaaria. Since Netanyahu repeatedly violates Likud's Constitution, he has no business being Likud's leader.
24. Response to#5
John R ,   NYC USA   (04.25.12)
Israel's security fence encompasses about 9% of the West Bank. It includes all 3 West Bank aquifers. About 70% of the main aquifer's water is diverted to Israel proper. These aquifers represent 100% of the West Bank water supply which Palestinians will never give up in a peace treaty since the West Bank is effectively landlocked. Israel and Jordan divide a shrinking Jordan River but Israel alone could build multiple desalinization plants on their Mediterranean shoreline. Eighteen former Israeli generals, one head of Israeli Security and two former Mossad chiefs all say the 1967 borders are defensible. The Palestinians offered a 1.9% land swap which would include about 60% of the settlements into Israel. Israel countered with 8% which of course included the aquifers. Don't tell me all Israel wants is peace because Israel also wants water and all settlements within its Security fence. They also want permanent control of Jerusalem. That means Palestinian legislators must pass Israeli checkpoints to vote in their own legislature in Jerusalem. Would you accept that deal? Netanyahu wants his cake and to eat it too. What is sad is how the truth gets distorted with political rhetoric.
25. @ 15: never heard of iceland, did you?
Peter ,   Austria   (04.25.12)
iceland has no own military forces - but no one questions it sovereignity.
26. I don't know about Netanyahu
andy prigge ,   ORANGEVILLE   (04.25.12)
Netanyahu apparently has forgotten about gaza and how it is full of weapons and terrorists. The same thing will happen to a palestinian state. Netanyahu has studied the Torah so he should know what the length and breadth of Israel should be. He is not the leader who will preside over unwalled cities although he eludes to that. The next leader will be that one, but i would not support him, though all of Israel will. Do you know who this man is?
27. #25. Real issue: Judea/Samaria belong to Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.25.12)
#25. Fictional Palestine has nothing in common with Iceland. Iceland is a real state. Palestinians are an "invented people" (as former G.O.P. Presidential candidate New Gingrich accurately put it), created solely to justify the destruction of Israel. However, the real issue is that Judea and Samaria belong to Israel and have belonged to Israel for more than 3,500 years.
28. We don't want to but doing anything else will be suicide....
This is crazy!!! ,   Israel   (04.25.12)
so get your mind around the idea and find a way to deal with it. The mistake Israel made was supporting the build up of a whole "Pali" people (aka Arabs who live in Israel). We never should have given them billions of dollars, built roads for them, built water systems for them, militarized them, or encouraged them to stay here permanantly. Arabs: ie - they came from Saudi Arabia. They should go back there. The whole joke of economic peace will not work. Unfortunately politicians won't see that until it's too late to turn back the clock.
29. "demilitarized arab state" is an oxymoron
emanon ,   USA   (04.25.12)
30. Response to#27
John R ,   NYC USA   (04.25.12)
Israel’s own courts, in multiple rulings, state it is an occupying power in the West Bank including a June 2005 ruling upholding the constitutionality of the Gaza disengagement. In that ruling the Israeli High Court determined the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) are lands seized during warfare, and are NOT part of Israel (direct quote): “The Judea and Samaria areas are held by the State of Israel in belligerent occupation. The legal meaning of this view is twofold: first, Israeli law does not apply in these areas and they have NOT BEEN annexed to Israel. Second, the legal regime which applies in these areas is determined by public international law regarding belligerent occupation.” Are you including in your 3,500 years of Israeli rule the 1,300 under Ottoman rule? What about the 1,000 under Roman rule or the 100 under Christian rule? The Romans conquered Gaul over 3,000 years ago, does that mean Italy can claim France? America didn't exist before 1789, does that mean Americans are an invented people? Do you want to create an equitable peace with your neighbors or do you just want to break international law?
