4. Shapira? Good luck
Rick ,   Israel   (05.10.12)
Even if you rent houses in Shapira for 1 Shekel a month, these "social justice" activists will still whine since they don't want to live with disadvantaged Israelis and immigrants. They want to live ONLY in posh neighborhoods and they think that whining can make that happen.
5. 54M NIS, hahaha
chaim ,   vienna   (05.10.12)
the city of vienna spents 300 000 000NIS for social housing in the next 2 years... for 54M you might get a nice cellar ... ?

7. Bravo to Socialism
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.10.12)
They take taxpayer money and land that could have been sold to make more money and build houses. Then they give these houses to mekuravim with protectsia. Unlike honest people without protectsia who live in Holon, Beer Sheva or Sderot, the mekuravim get to live in Tel Aviv, and in a few years will sell the house, take the money and move to Herzlia Pituach. The only losers are people who work, pay taxes and live within their means.
8. 45 appartments only? in a country of 7,8 million
Ilan ,   Madrid, Spain   (05.10.12)
Just 45 appartments? Thats less than a drop in the ocean. Plain crap and misleading by the Tel Aviv municipality
9. #8 is right: This is just PR
TC   (05.10.12)
60 appartments built for how many families looking to buy an appartment: 100 000? 200 000?
10. One of the resons I delay aliyah
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (05.10.12)
Housing considerations are one of the reasons I've put off aliyah. I don't care to live in TA, but some place close to Haifa would be nice. I'm really afraid I can't afford or find suitable housing. When I visited a few years ago, goods & services seemed to cost about the same that I'm used to, but income was quite a bit lower. Then I hear people on here talk about people over 40 having a hard time finding work and I'm even more scared. It seems the government & society is centered around birthing-aged kids. Of the older people, it seems only the wealthy can afford to immigrate.
11. affordable housing
yec ,   netanya,Israel   (05.11.12)
To 2,not in everyplace, lived once in one of them and was the best so far
12. Dont be so negative everyone!!!
Israeli grandma   (05.11.12)
A great idea, and better late than never. Tel Aviv voters must keep careful watch that apartments are build to acceptable standards, and allocated in a fair and transparent manner. Also this is a welcome return to housing for CITIZENS who are not blessed with moneyed families to help them buy, and not for illegal immigrants and people who just want to buy to rent out to others. This was an effective plan in Yesha when purchasers were required to be resident for the first 5 yrs in the affordable homes built by the Israel government . None of these homes turned into slums either
13. 10 Amichai What s the use of a big..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (05.11.12)
house when you feel a bit cramped. Better a small house where you feel at large. Amichai, don t delay your Aliya. Yes,you can do it. Where there is a will, there is a way.
