What is your problem, you react like they're radical Islamists, when all they want is public transportation. Just because the trains in LA suck doesn't mean you have to deny them in Jerusalem. It's great you have such a strong opinion when you don't even live there since it doesn't affect you at all. I'm religious too but we have to live in reality, you can't prevent a whole city from getting where it wants to just because of your religious beliefs. Why don't they close all the stores too on shabbat, and prevent people from using electricity as well? Geez talk about holier than thou.

No one forced to work on Shabbat . Also a better pay for this day and another rest day in the week of course .
33. 28 Charles I heard the sad news...

The Shoa survivors [he was an active witness and the promoter of the Jewish Museum of Mechelen] are leaving us slowly but surely. If, you were not explicit,i would ask for more clarification, before telling you that i don t believe you. Have a lovely day.
34. Ok, what about buses in Judea and Samaria?!
Smadar ,   Ariel, Israel   (05.02.12)
We barely have public transportation DURING THE WEEK. Poor people are forced to "tramp" and wait until someone who has a car kindly picks them up - you see entire families traveling that way. But of course all these "social equality" promoters who want to destroy Shabbat observance in the public sphere, never even consider this. In my eyes, that makes them hypocrites who use the "social" banner in order to promote anti-religious legislation. It's not buses or travel options for the poor that they are interested in - it's about reducing the religious character of Jerusalem and Israel as a whole.

All the secular who want everything open so they can, as families do all these activities on the Sabbath. Just who do they think will be driving the buses, working in the shops etc. etc. YUP--the husband and/or the wife. Once society operates 7 days a week the Sabbath day--a family day, a day for all members to be together--even in ways that are not Halachic will be destroyed.

The lower stratums of our society are in virtual in house arrest during Sabbath. They do not own cars and the cost of taxis are prohibitive for them. All of Israel needs public transportation on Shabbat. I am sure that a system in which no driver is forced to work on Shabbat can be arraigned also prepaid tickets acceptable by all modes of public transportation can also help minimize the so called desecration of the Sabbath. Yes we are country for Jews but we are not a theocracy and the mobility of all citizens and visitors should be assured 24/7.
