31. Some HARSH REALITY that is ignored
spyguy ,   Seattle USA   (05.02.12)
by virtually all Israelis - (1) The Arabs in the West bank and Gaza are NOT going anywhere and trying to deport them to Jordan or Egypt will start a war that Israel will lose. (2) in the long term, there are ONLY THREE possible outcomes for the area between the Jordan River and the Med sea. No matter how much Israelis fantasize other options there are NO OTHER OPTIONS. (3) Option "D" - the two parties DIVIDE the land fairly (two-state which is no longer possible). (4) Option "S" - the two parties SHARE the land fairly (one secular state - neither Jewish nor Muslim - everyone equal) (5) Option "UGLY" - the two sides fight a war to the death and the winner gets the land - given the resources available to both sides, it is doubtful that Israelis would win. (6) Israelis need to WAKE UP and decide which of the three options they want, because if they do not actively pick an option, history will choose it for them and IMPOSE it on them (and YES the rest of the world can and will IMPOSE a solution on Israel and Israel will be powerless to resist, because the US will NOT be able to protect Israel for very much longer).
32. #11.esnuffnstl: Long life Aztlan!
Tom ,   USA   (05.02.12)
How about acceding to the indigenous, Spanish speaking people in the South West and carve out Aztlan from the USA? La Raza people hate you gringos with the same fervor as you hate the Jews. We should support the future state of Aztlan!
33. #1 - many settlers said they'd become "Palestinian"
William ,   Israel   (05.02.12)
if they were offered citizenship. Problem is, they're Jewish so they'd always be hated and the PA demands a "Jew-free" area.
34. If you want to scare us with demographics
Zev ,   Israel   (05.02.12)
What is your solution when the Arabs are more than 50% of the population of pre 1967 Israel.
35. #34 Fiction
Menachem ,   Israel   (05.02.12)
Approximately 17% of Israel's citizens are Arabs (not counting the alien non-citizen Arabs of the towns in "East Jerusalem" who are not part of Israel proper. The birth rates of Israeli Arabs are falling dramatically and the Jewish and Arab birth rates in pre 1967 Israel are in the process of converging while aliya continues. Conclusion: Israel will remain a Jewish nation-state for ever.
36. No. 31 is absolutely correct
Tom ,   USA   (05.02.12)
And deep down I know it is. I just like to pretend that facts are not facts. Great post. You've given me much to think about.
37. #31. Your "harsh reality" is wishful fiction.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.02.12)
#31. Your "harsh reality" is wishful fiction on your part. It would be hard to find a word of truth in your entire post. In the first place, Jews are a large and growing majority in Israel; including Judea and Samaria. In the second place, Arabs are leaving Judea and Samaria every year by the thousands. Israel can pay the rest to leave. In the third place, America is not "protecting" Israel. America is protecting Arab nations like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. America has gone to war to protect Arab states repeatedly. In the third place, nobody cares about fictional Palestine: including the vast majority of Arabs. In the fourth place, nobody can force Israel to do anything. You're wrong on all counts.
38. Overcounting for stipends
jay ,   Brooklyn, USA   (05.02.12)
Some years ago there were 1.2 million people on welfare in NYC. Mayor Guiliani took over and insisted that thry be verified. The numbers immediately shrunk to under 400,000. If those receiving UN and European stipends on the West Bank were actually checked their numbers would be much lower.
39. ploker calls for a preserved Jewish state
trump   (05.02.12)
and will prevent the strengthening of the Jewish identity
40. Flocked! Nice try, but no cigar.
(05.02.12)
This only shows us tha the real solution is kicking the Muslim racist squatters out of our lands.
41. Yes. One state. One JEWISH state!
(05.02.12)
42. #26
Stan ,   Israel   (05.02.12)
Name one state that supports Jewish settlement in the occupied territories. I'm still waiting.............. P.S. No international support , the beginning of the boycotting of Israel.
43. #42 stan
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.02.12)
Can you tell me why the official [English] disengagement agreement of the Six Day War was written so that the word "all" was not used in relation to any Israeli withdrawal? This was deliberate. (It was included in the unofficial French and Arabic versions to mollify.) It doesn’t matter that countries either don’t support the “settlements” or are afraid to. All they show is that they ignore history, as you do. BTW: The area was occupied in 1948 by the Jordanians. It is now liberated from that occupation. But your blinders help you ignore that "minor detail". Non-support does not automatically mean boycott, unless you are speaking of your hopes and dreams, not reality.
44. 'An example in mediterranean history'
Gordon Ross ,   London, UK   (05.03.12)
I've been saying this very same thing about exchange of populations for some time now, giving as example what happened between the Turks and Greeks. However, it will not happen in this case for the simple reason that standards that differ from the norm are always applied to any situation in which the Jews are involved. No such luck for the Jews!
