31. Chaim, therein lies the rub
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (05.02.12)
the UN can't be sued. The UN IS above the law... That alone makes it more than necessary to re-exazmine the charter of the UN, it's being hosted here in the United States, with our financial commitment, and whether or not to continue down this road to nowhere but evil or... end all monies paid to the UN and all nations period. The building that houses the UN could be used for much better purposes as was originally proposed by the original grantor. As it stands, it is a den of vipers.
32. Physician, heal thyself.
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (05.02.12)
and, in this case, the UN as physician, has an advanced case of AIDS. The only hope for others is the death of this obscene sick folly named the UN.
33. Someone make you an Israeli General?
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (05.02.12)
I must have missed it. If the UN can get away with murder, Eisner can get away with a smack in the danish hams mouth, the ham has his teeth and life, and the UN can keep murdering, raping, robbing and enjoy their sadistic 'spoils' indefinitely. Is that what you're saying?
34. It's good to shine a light on the...

evils of the U.N. but it would be nice if the author of this story knew the difference between the butt of a rifle and it's magazine. The Danish troublemaker was not hit with the butt of the rifle. It is common here in the U.S. for writers to make such mistakes and to get their gun information from anti gun groups who actually know nothing about guns. It hurts their credibility among those who do know.

Oh dear. Apparently Sarah B doesn't realise how the command structure of UN peacekeeping operations differs from the US army. The original post is correct: UN peacekeepers are under the command of military leaders of the nation that contributed the forces. When the forces commit crimes, the blame lies with the nation that contributed the peacekeepers. UN peacekeepers have indeed been punished when crimes have been committed. And nations have taken responsibility for the failure of their peacekeeping troops ( the entire Dutch government resigned over what happened in Bosnia.) These people are grown-ups who own up to their mistakes. Just like with Abu Graib: US journalists didn't write articles trying to excuse the crimes by saying that "other nations also do bad things." They owned up to it. Perhaps one day Israel will grow up and accept responsibility for its actions. Right now it is the screaming baby of the world, always trying to deflect criticism from itself. It is just one more reason why Israel is becoming increasingly isolated in the world.
36. #31. U.S. Republicans should make U.N. an election issue.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.02.12)
#31 Bad Assed Jew. You are right on target. It is absurd for the Western World to continue funding the despicable U.N. I wish the U.S. Republicans had the guts to make funding the U.N. an election issue. The U.N. is widely, and justifiably, reviled in America. Republicans could earn much credit by taking on the U.N.
37. #14Jewish atriot.Where was the UN?
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (05.02.12)
Easy.In the highest bidder's pocket. Usually the Arab League's. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
38. Don't Worry About Other People's Problems
Chanawashdc ,   Washington DC USA   (05.02.12)
I see this all the time: someone tries to justify wrong-doing or ineptness or just plain stupidity by saying "well look at them over there, they're worse." JUST STOP IT! THIS WILL NEVER FIX THE PROBLEM. Whatever UN troops have done cannot be used to justify what Eisner did. It was wrong and it did nothing to enhance Israel's image abroad.
39. Cambodia
eva ,   Heidelberg, Germany   (05.02.12)
You forgot to metion Boutros Boutros Gali's Blue Helmets in Cambodia. They introduced and spread HIV disease among the very young Cambodian population. Ghali's commentary: Boys are boys. It was the onset of a new round of genocide in Cambodia. Eva

Yael is correct. When these young activists, ignorant and easily manipu-lated by the Muslims, act out what they believe is a heroic act, Israel should use Psychological response: FIRE HOSES. The worst that can happen is that they'll get wet. This is far better and more "humane" and it gives the Muslims nothing to bragg about.

Yes the magazine is much harder than the butt (I know I broke a Mattel Toy once). LtCol Eisner's mistake was that he should have used the trigger of his rifle instead of the magazine.
