1. Typically Bibi...
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.03.12)
"Silvan Shalom, complains that Netanyahu used excellent PR to steal the glory. " Netanyahu learned his politics in the USA where he was schooled. PR is everything, the truth doesn't matter...
2. Netanyahu is nothing but PR...your other hopefulls
Al   (05.03.12)
are simply nothing. Lets put it real. The Jew in Israel is leaderless. Between the orthoquack rabbis, the insane lefties and the other shwitzers, the regular Jew in Israel is in trouble.
3. What a Byassed and polically motivated article
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (05.03.12)
I dont think the economy is heading to disaster. The last month unenplyment rose, but westill are in the best situation since 5 years ago. This analisis based in a demagogic discurse prior to elections is politically motivated. Talking og generalities. We are heading towards a boom with the Gas, and Shell Oil discoveries. Probablythe article was consulted with Tzipi, who clearly stated her hate for Nataniahu.
4. Netanyahu Wants Elections??
Ron M ,   South TA / Zion   (05.03.12)
Was hard for me to take the whole premise of this article seriously considering that it was Yacimovich, Mofaz, and Liberman who made the push for early elections. Is Mr. Eshet not aware that they all were tabling bills for this past Monday's Knesset to dissolve? All that aside from the fact that for 3 years Israel has been steered through a global melt down surprisingly well compared to other western nations. Come on Yediot, you can do better than this!
5. Bedoin, Heredim, Arabs... NOBODY should receive any benefits
New Law NEEDED ,   in Israel   (05.03.12)
from the state unless they sign a document saying they support the state of Israel.
6. Oh OooH! here it comes! Here it comes!
Love Bibi!!! ,   Israel   (05.03.12)
Instead of presenting their position, , the opposition will try to win entirely by trying to tear Bibi and his government down. Livne has been taking shots at Natanyahu ever since she lost the bid last time. Lame!
7. children's political caprices
Borislava ,   Sofia, Bulgaria   (05.03.12)
Netanyahu is a very good leader. #1 US PR (Netanyahu) vs. KGB propaganda and manipulations (Abu Mazen), what you prefer?
8. maybe, maybe not
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.03.12)
Netanyahu has far better reasons to want elections now then the possibility of an economic turndown. Maybe he wants to neutralize the "social protests" organized for the summer, or wants to avoid dealing with the Tal Law forced by Bagataz? Maybe he wants to reshuffle the government like Sharon did, making a coalition with Kadima, Lapid, Labor, Shas and parts of Likud to attack the Zionists in Judea and Samaria? Maybe he wants to have an election without American interference, like when the Americans attacked Shamir to help elect Rabin or Netanyahu to help elect Barak? Maybe he wants an excuse not to attack Iran? or maybe he wants elections in the wake of an attack on Iran?
9. elections
Joe ,   Israel   (05.03.12)
The economy isn’t the reason for early elections. It’s the threat of Obama being reelected. If elected Obama will try to influence the Israeli public that Bibbi is no good and vote for the left’s candidate.
10. You can't expect anything but corrupt leadership
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (05.03.12)
the whole financial system is corrupt. Any time the Bank of Israel charges Israelis interest, in the form taxes, to print the money, that is a violation of the Torah. So, what kind of Jews do we have working at the Bank of Israel? They are criminals raping their own people.
11. Bibi's competent management vs. becoming another Greece.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.03.12)
It may be true that Israel will eventually suffer from the recession, which has been battering much of the Western World. However, Netanyahu's economic policies have minimized it's impact on Israel. Israel is in better financial shape than most Western nations. Especially those nations, like Greece, managed by socialists and leftists. Netanyahu is a far better choice, for managing Israel's economy, than any of his rivals. The last thing Israel needs is disastrous socialists in charge. We don't want to become another Greece.
12. BB is the only Israeli who understand economy
Golan ,   Modiin   (05.03.12)
Israelis suffer from "government is the only answer" solution. example: the smelly tent protestors who condemned the government for making everything expensive and offered the solution of MORE government. BB made Israel less reliant on American and foreign aid. His deregulations brought back Israeli high-tec tycoons. And Israel flourished. HOWEVER: Stanley Fisher and BB noticed that the real-estate bubble was about to burst in Israel and tried to get banks to stop lending to "young couples" (ie their parents) so freely. And the flu of the West, America, and Asia was going to infect Israel (not because of BB but) because we live in a global economy (and our entitlements are too high, Israeli workers suck like vacuum cleaners) its harsh but true.
13. One more thing It wasn't Nataniahu who started asking for ..
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (05.03.12)
elections. Nevertheless polls show that he will come out in New Elections stronger. Already Yacimovich said she will come in the coalition, probably Mofas will also. Counting Israel Beiteini as a partner the coalition might already have enogh votes so Shas is in a position that cannot blackmail the coalition as he did. This can make a coalition of 69 seats without Shas Likud 31.. Labor 8 Israel beiteinu 18 and Kadima 12. Worst scenario we go back to,the actual coalition with the Haredim andmake a gov ernment of 63 seats
14. not taking into account that...
oferdesade ,   israel   (05.03.12)
... now, with kadima's leadership in disarray and its shift away from anything it purporter 2 b, bibsy will probably win. he may be hoping for less need for coalitionary gambits. disappointment with yvette, infighting amongst the frums... who knows - he may get wot he was not careful in wishing for. how that helps an economy? who really cares - the main thing is helping your friends. less friends, less help.
15.  i think
(05.05.12)
i do not understand ecnomy but i think it s allover the world --people want to take more than to give it is bibi and you the same ..and in this article the same gaol
16. Pathetic article
freddy ,   Jerusalem   (05.05.12)
The Bibi bashers are back again, hoping to bring him down when they know that there is no one better to lead Israel today. Not saying Bibi is great, just that the others are much worse. Israel lacks real leaders and until we see one, Bibi makes the others look like they are still in kindergarten. The Likud will retain leadership in Israel and unless someone can come up with a real leader, expect Likud to sty in power for awhile.
17. Is Natanyahu another Obama,
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (05.06.12)
smoke and mirrors ?.Natanyahu has 2things close to his heart, the coalition and the westbankers.
