1. A country like Israel...

... needs high-rise buildings and skyscrapers. In a place of limited size, you build up, rather than outward. That's just the way it is. People should adapt to this. Maybe the Arabs can be accommodated by very wide buildings of nine or so stories, giving spacious room to each family. In fact, there should be more skyscrapers. I'm surprised that Haifa and Beersheba both have relatively low skylines, given their size and populations. Israel needs a skyscraper revolution like Dubai and China.

Everyone wants to have a spacious house with a garden and privacy. But in Israel, there is not so much land. That is why the government gives the Arab sector lots of land to live in big beautiful houses while packing the Jews in tiny high-rise apartments.
4. the arabs have 2 choices
zionist forever   (05.07.12)
1) Apartment buildings with communal entrance & stairwell like 90% of non arabs live in. 2) Housing shortage and high rentals & purchases for the private houses that do get built. This isn't the 19th century anymore when arabs could live in nice little idilic villages where they all lived in small private houses with a garden are over. The population has grown, people want affordable housing so they have to accept its either 10 story buildings ( which isn't exactly a skyscraper ) or very expensive houses and not enough to go round so many will have to live elsewhere where they will have to live in apartment buildings anyway.
5. Beersheeba - Aiming high and singing its praises!
Tim ,   Brighton   (05.07.12)
Theres a vibrancy and an energy there that is giving Beersheeba its rightful Title as Capital of Southern Israel, the historical Centre of the Kingdom of King David Beersheeba is enjoying a buzzing mixed economy with plenty of space to grow There should be no restrictions of Beersheebas Skyline, the urgent completion of the Trans North South Israel Railway with Beersheeba as its central hub, a Beersheeba International Airport and a continuation of the old Grid Design and its unique German Swiss Architectural influences in the City Centre and major Commercial and Government Buildings We want to see a Beersheeba Metro, a Freight Railway Link to Ashdod and the building of Parks, lots of European Style Lidos and Green Spaces in the suburbs. We would like to see much more made of Beersheebas historical links to Kind David..even perhaps the building of a new King David Synagogue Build some good housing at affordable prices and there could be even more people and businesses who would want to make Beersheeba their home or base of choice
6. WTC 9/11
The Prophetess ,   SC, USA   (05.08.12)
Are you all following the Gitmo "trial" circus? Build these high-rises as tall as the Twin Towers, fill them with arabs and leave the rest to "history." WTC, 9/11. We still remember. We still mourn.

Nobody WANTS to live in an apartment building - you need to be able to get along with people. I also, would like to have my own piece of land instead of live in an apartment, but I trade the private land to living near the village center at a price I can afford.
