1. The Greeks can only blame themselves..
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.07.12)
..for their misery, undisciplined handling of their economy, their corruption, their budget deficit and their national debt. The EU should have expelled Greece a long time ago. We also know of another example where Nazis used the economic distress of a country as an excuse and as a pretext to control the country: Hitler. It seems that when a demographic and economic crisis hit European countries, the European countries seem to suffer from xenophobia, racism and anti-Semitism. Israel should divest in Europe - Greece, Italy, Spain, France, UK and Germany included, and replace those divestments with investments in India, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South East Asia, Australia, USA, Canada, Latin America and Africa. The Europeans constitute maximum 10% of the human race - and declining. Forget the Europeans - they are history.

3. #1 'Israel should divest in Europe'
(05.07.12)
Israel imports 40% of its goods from, and exports 30% into the EU. You can't just pull out of Europe and change these economic relations within a few years. If the EU goes down, and it will, it's going to drag Israel with it, at least to a certain degree. European politicians will probably manage to bumble through this crises for another year or two or three, but then it's going to get temporally ugly, hopefully only economically and not in terms of politics, although the election in Greece is not encouraging.
4. why should they blame themself
Bobo ,   europe   (05.07.12)
it is much easier to blame someone else, plus jews are always there, easy target... it is much harder too look in the mirror
5. Previous governments have unleashed this by
John Phee ,   Sydney AUSTRALIA   (05.08.12)
Previous mainly Socialist governemnts have created this hateful mess so it is understandable by the Greeks have turned to the far left. The attack on immigrants is understandable but not condonable. In Australai we have the same type of Socialt mindset but thankfully no where near as bad. You wonder why illegal immigrants are disliked & used as political tools. We hear an illegal immigant will be give a house to live in while Australias live on the street. They we genous welfare & handouts & don't have to work, paid by those that work,. They get prioroty for jobs due to government subsidies while Australians starve. So it is no wonder that the illegals get targeted in political campaigns. But it is not their fault, the Greeks should look at the political leaders that allowed this to happen not the helpless & hapless illegals. But no one will touch the prominace & wealth of the past politiicians who spent & spent & spent what they did not have. When politicians are required to pay for past mistakes then things will improve. These far righters, if that is what they are will eventaully see political reality. Also why are we accepting what left wing media say as truth after all any one that is not far left is a Nazi to them.
6. Greek Neo Nazi's

8. last time i checked...
mark ,   usa   (05.08.12)
The main issue with greece and the eu was that far too much of the greek bureacracy was overtly redundant and padded with do nothing jobs of entitlement at the expense of the public coffers. Hence, the position of eu austerity measures to be taken. Now, Mihaloliakos is making dastardly noise about foreigners and journalists not at the end of or in the middle of a democratic debate but on day one. It is as if to believe him, and more importantly his plan, a person would have to believe that foreigners make up a significant percentage of the greek public sector since the eu analysis of the underlying root cause of Greece's stagnation is precisely the bloated public sector which is driving greek borrowing to satisfy wages and pensions. To say democratically austerity is open to debate and negotiation is one thing. To say, goose step to me, flanked by imagery of open fascism, level implied overt threats and then salute Heil Mihaloliakos is quite another thing. This guy needs to be run out on a rail.
9. re above comment: "Forget the Europeans - they are history."
ilanadiamant.org ,   USA   (05.08.12)
do you really want to "forget" and "divest" from a continent with a Jewish population that however small nevertheless managed to survive all evils of the 20th century? As I said before here on ynet, you might want to step into YadVaShem before making such pronouncements: many Europeans helped save hundreds of Jews from Holocaust, would you rather that you were "divested" and "forgotten" back then if such a thing were possible? Do you seriously believe that isolationism will help Israel or Jews anywhere else?
10. To nr 3 - I should clarify what I mean
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.08.12)
Divestment in Europe should be made slowly and gradually step by step and every divestment should be replaced with an investment in non European countries. Precisely for strategic reasons should Israel focus on non European countries in the future - it is dangerous for Israel that such a big chunk of Israeli exports and imports involve the EU. And since the EU is very anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli, Israel needs to find new business partners and to diversify Israel's foreign trade. I know that a huge chunk of Israeli foreign trade is currently with Europe, but in case you can read, that's precisely my point - Israel should not rely its foreign trade to such a large extent on Europe. I don't think I can get more clear than this.
11. To nr 6
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.08.12)
Yes my name is Greek - but I am Jewish. I am not my name. My name and I are two separate things. I am called Alexander. I honor my name, but I won't honor anti-Semites belonging to any nationality. You cannot lecture me on respect since all Israel does is respecting others but other nations don't seem to reciprocate this respect that should be mutual. I respect people that deserve respect and the Greek handling of the economy deserves no respect nor do Greek anti-Semites deserve respect. Israel's foreign trade is none of Greece' or the EU's concern. Israel chooses its trade partners - for two main reasons: 1) sustainable profit and 2) security concerns. Its dangerous for Israel to trade to such a large extent with the Europeans since many Europeans are anti-Semitic and wouldn't hesitate to boycott my country. Precisely for that reason Israel should diversify its foreign trade and in case some European states want to boycott Israel they cannot harm Israel to the same extent if a larger percent of Israel's foreign trade is in non European nations.
12. To nr 9 - Yes I stand by my words: Europe is history
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.08.12)
Accept it. Europe is entering a demographic and economic decline. "do you really want to "forget" and "divest" from a continent with a Jewish population that however small nevertheless managed to survive all evils of the 20th century?" Jews do not originate from Europe. "European" Jews came to Europe from the Middle East 1000-1500 years ago. Some Jews settled down in southern Europe 2000 years ago. Jews came to Europe from the Middle East in several waves stretching 2000 years back in time. The true origins of Jews is in Israel, in the Middle East. We Jews are a Mediterranean/Mid Eastern ethnic group of people. This constant and tiresome insistence that Jews have a special bond to Europe gives me headache. Europe is no more special than Russia, North Africa or Iran. There is no law of nature that says that Jews must live in Europe and that Israel must trade to the same extent with Europe. Many Europeans saved hundreds of Jews, but 6 million Jews were still murdered, and most Europeans still hold anti-Semitic beliefs. This is the simple truth. If Europe is good for the Jews, you should really study Jewish history in Europe really hard. Have you heard of the Holocaust, Russian progroms, the expulsion of Jews from England centuries ago and the Spanish Inquisition? I have already been to Yad Vashem and my conclusion is very different: the Holocaust happened BECAUSE Jews lived in Europe and because Jews were unarmed, defenseless sheep in the hands of European anti-Semitic mass murderers. Yad Vashem has taught me that Jews can only rely on themselves and this self reliance is the true source for our salvation. I don't know if you can read, but I never wrote a word about isolationism. I said that Israel should divest (slowly/gradually) in Europe and replace those divestments with investments outside of Europe, while keeping the trade with Europe at an absolute minimum. Israeli trade with Europe should never disappear entirely, but should be replaced with non Europeans. That's hardly isolationism. That's business savvy -disconnected from sentimental beliefs or ideology.
