Your point would be well taken if you didn't leave out some ‘details’. The demands by diaspora Jews often mirror the demands by many Israelis: less Haredim control over their lives. Also, some Haredim demands spill over to affect the diaspora, eg whose conversions to accept or not accept. And they have canceled conversions retroactively (huh?!). Haredim do contribute to Israeli life, but many Israelis may dispute how much they contribute as opposed to how much they want to dictate. And one reason the Haredim are able to dictate is politics; they are usually in government coalitions and can exact a political price. The devil is in the ‘details’, yes?
