1. Ethiopians or Hardim? Is there a difference?
rebecca ,   Modiin   (05.11.12)
When a certain area wanted to exclude Ethiopians there was a huge outcry. Racism etc. Protests, tents... Where are all the left wing Liberals when Haredim are being treated the same way? It's one thing wanting to have a neighborhood of people like yourself. It's racism when you want to exclude one specific group, even if that group are Hardim.
2. $330,000 is "affordable"?
Babishka ,   USA/Mea Shearim   (05.11.12)
That's insane! How much do people have to earn in order to buy that kind of housing? I am Haredi, I have a university degree and I work full time at a professional career, but I would be considered an "undesirable" by this program for 2 reasons.
3. You make a valid point- but ..
(05.11.12)
no where in this article does it say anything about exclusion. Rather this group seems to seek community diversity by assuring others get into residences; thus the group obtains small parts of a whole project to instill variety of social groups in development
4. a valid point- but is not Moidim mostly
Brandeis ,   USA   (05.11.12)
all Haredim ? correct me if I am wrong. This group indicates nothing about exclusion; rather it seems to seek community diversity. It does not take over a whole development seeking to exclude others. It takes a small part of project and includes a social group unable otherwise to reside in housing project. In this way it assures community diversity. Being hared is NOT a race- it is a religious perspective by choice & belief. Being non-Hared also is not a race

solomon ,   bklyn   (05.11.12)
Haredim are not being excluded from the entire project. A group, New Spirit, arranged for discounts to be given to people from a certain segment of the population. This is EXACTLY what the Haredim do in many other cases. Whether it is discrimination or not has yet to be decided, but whatever the outcome, it is the same for both this case and Haredim. So either accept both, or criticize both. Your bias is showing.
6. How much!?
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (05.11.12)
I know Jerusalem is "premium" real estate, but 121 sqm is NIS 1.65M!? My brand new 232 sqm house on 1 acre (4 dunams) of land was NIS 676K! Granted, I live in the US, but housing prices in Israel are just too out-of-reach for the commoner. That and the employment factor keep a lot of us from making Aliyah.
7. ...does any one remember that these house r being built...
Jew ,   JewLandia   (05.12.12)
on land that was once so remote from the city that they were used as "mabarot" for new immigrants? my point is that Jerusalem is over priced
8. You call this affordable?
Sandi ,   Tel Aviv   (05.13.12)
What a joke. What young couple can afford such prices?
