stop importing foreign dreck... Build your own stuff and dont depend on others. Get people off welfare and in lickety split time, Israels domestic manufacturing market would be booming.
2. This is the outcome even I was able to predict since day 1:
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.10.12)
what were they thinking???!!! This was one of the most lackluster shopping experiences I ever had and all I bought was an NIS60 item! All their advisors/experts/marketing-people should've been fired long ago.
3. Kika - over priced rubbish!
Talula ,   Israel   (05.10.12)
I feel so very sorry for all the workers there :(
4. kika's prices, selection stink
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (05.10.12)
I went shopping for a desk in Kika, expecting it to be a good alternative to Ikea. Not only were the prices higher, they had a poor selection. If they want to compete, they will have to lower prices because Ikea has been very successful in Israel.
5. "workers demand wages"
(05.10.12)
How dare they! These leftist socialists!!
6. pretend to be palestinians
zionist forever   (05.10.12)
If the Kika managers just put on a keffiah and say they are palestinians then they can go to the international community and say look I can't afford to pay the workers and suddenly Obama & the Europeans would drop everything, take out their checkbooks and say how much do you want?
7. KIKA
van Dijk ,   Jerusalem, Istael   (05.10.12)
I really love KIKA. They have a mixture of very good quality stuff and cheaper things. The Israeli's look only how much things cost. They don't know that Hulsta, Joop + top quality cookware are expensive in Europe as well, but are top items. There mistake is the marketing people. You can't compare it with Ikea. It's a complete different consept. I hope that they will reopen again soon. They only should take different marketing people on. Hope that the workers will get paid soon, they deserve it. They are great people.
8. @ 6 blaming Obama
Sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (05.10.12)
is pathetic. You should blame BIBI for allowing Israeli employees to work for such meager salaries or allow employers to pay such poverty level third world wages in the first place. Also you can blame BIBI for taxing the crap out of Israeli citizens making goods 3 times the price as in the States and in Europe. Now respond to that because this is the facts. The store failed because of outrageous Israeli government taxes.
9. Kika had good stuff, unlike Ikea.
nibor ,   israel   (05.11.12)
Ikea's stuff is pretty, cheap and attractive, but not made very well. However, there is so much good shopping in Israel. But with such low paychecks who can afford to take advantage of it?
10. ( your post doesnt make sense....If there is 'good'
Al   (05.12.12)
shopping in Israel shows me that there are people who do make money in Isreal and can afford to buy better quality products. The whining and crying has got to stop. Stop looking into other peoples plate and concentrate on your own. I can betcha ya that were you do so, in a short period of time you too would be shopping at the finer stores. Envy and jealousy doesnt make one a wealthy person, but hard work does.
11. The only important thing here...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (05.13.12)
....is for workers to be paid. You start a business, you take risks. My heart beats blue borscht for the guy who owns the franchise, I'm sure he didn't put his last shekel into it. That's why these people make everything Ltd or Corp - so their personal money can't be touched. Pay your employees and face your mistakes.
