1. Egyptian politics use Jew as an insult.! They do it
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (05.11.12)
in their media as well. "Not Antisemitic only anti Israel" another dumb deceitful leftist slogan. Any Churches burnt this week?
2. Shouldn't all the candidates be in the debate
ben   (05.11.12)
at least until the first round of elections
3. Moussa & Fotouh
Susya Bar Dror ,   Israel   (05.11.12)
Your predecessors lost all wars against Israel. Since the peace treaty Egypt was in a unique position to consolidate her economy. You want to give it up now? What for?
4. retake Sinai
Frank ,   Holland   (05.11.12)
We should retake the Sinaï and rebuild Yamit.
5. Instead of populsist "haredi in IDF", I'd like to know what
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.11.12)
our United Goverment is doing about the fast approaching war with Egypt? Helpess, just like in the face of Sudanese multitides invading from Sinai? Building fences a la "Maginot Line"....?! Oh well, what do I care, I live in North TA!
6. Thank GOD there is LIEBERMAN
Sam ,   Nigeria   (05.11.12)
to answer them and make them retract those trash .
7. The billions in their mind
Dr D ,   Jerusalem   (05.11.12)
After hearing that it is possible to accumulate billions of dollars while in power , who in Egypt will not be tempted ?? But first , what those sick "politicians" have in mind . is to push the Egyptian army to a defeat in a war (Against who and why??) . Will the generals react fast enough with a counterrevolution before the democratization of Egypt wanted by Obama will bring total destruction to their country??
8. The Egyptian Fears! Shell-Shocked!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (05.11.12)
Egypt has always been afraid of Israel, because of the repeated whippings of recent memory ('67 was a masterpiece). Egypt talks big, but fights small; they know they are no match for Israel! So in the current situation, they better hope they are on speaking terms with Israel, because if not...they're in for another '67 (but worse) butt whipping; and, that scares them to death! God bless, Israel; praying for the peace of Jerusalem!
9. Hmmm
PaulZion ,   Israel   (05.11.12)
I wonder what these candidates would say if they remembered that they got Sinai for the peace treaty as an integral part of the agreement. Land for peace means exactly that. Therefore, if they cancel the peace treaty, they should give it back. Hmmm.
10. Egypt has more urgent problems...
Menachem ,   Israel   (05.11.12)
like for example providing food on the table for Egypt's expanding and impoverished and umemployed population. Blame the Jews-card doesn't seem to work as well as it used to, just ask Assad in Damascus.
11. War
Mike ,   Haifa   (05.11.12)
Egypt is on a collision course with Israel even if initially Amr Moussa and other non-islamists come to power. Israel must realize that it is going to be very isolated within the next 10-15 years. But this procss will cause us to undergo a profound mental shift that will result in us being comfortable with our Jewish identity. within the same time frame, there is a high likelihood of war between Egypt and Israel.
12. wht not?
hisham ,   Cairo   (05.11.12)
so why u dont try to come and get it back? :p lol
13. Who is NOT an enemy of Islam?
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (05.11.12)
Israel is only the little Satan. India lost 70 Million when Islam invaded, then lost a third of her land and now facing terrorism everywhere. Egypt belongs to the Copts who are now being eliminated. The so-called boastful Islamic sacred soil is 23 fictitious regimes created 100 years ago by Britain. Israel is the enemy because she is the only non-Islamic state, when there should be at least 10 non-Islamic states in Arabia.
14. "Review" goes BOTH WAYS! Our partners should always remember
(05.11.12)
Next time they will not have the luxury of our trust when signing on ANY document. Next time they will have to make inhuman and very expensive efforts to convince us of their peaceful intentions, efforts much bigger than they invest now into destroying the peace agreement. And of course, trust will not be regained ever again! If Egypt or any current peace partner goes back on the word and the SPIRIT of ANY agreement with Israel, next time nobody will blame Israel if it goes all the way with the anihilation of its enemies. I hope that all the world leaders are ready and willing to accept the consequences and bear the burden of history. This is especially true to all those trying to destroy Israel with political and military means. They all must remember that Israel will never accept to become the sacrificial lamb on the altar of their greed, hatred and racism. Anybody who plans to put Israel to the wall, must remember that Israel will make sure that wall falls on its enemies - and not only on those enemies who do not actually pull a physical trigger.
15. #10: DUH?! Nothing like a jolly war to avert attention from
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.11.12)
internal problems. Then loose it and then, just like in the past, get urgent foreign (USA) help to rebuild. Taken into account the general, intellectual level of Egyptian populace seems they can be persuaded to do anything in no time, be that war or be that peace. If the "brilliant" Germans could've beed bamboozled in the 30's, then the poor peasants in Egypt don't stand a chance.... If Jewish, Israeli citizen can be led into marching hand in hand with Arab, anti-Israel protestors against "occupation" then anything is possible: even Ha'Aretz being able to sell copies & survive!!!
16. Egyptian "worries"
tiki ,   belgium   (05.11.12)
The "spectacle of Arab Democracy at work. This "debate farce is of course NOT about jobs, illeteracy, economy, equality...no it's, as usual, about the 'eternal lightning conductor Israel. This historic 'debate will give the people of Egypte a preview of their future....more of the same nonsense about Israel, but no work and a disaster economy. Sharia law & veils for modern Egyptian girls will sign the end of the Revolution for freedom, democracy & equality.
17. Egypt can't afford food, let alone ANY war
(05.11.12)
So it better shut up, sit tight, and appreciate their luck to having had a smart leader (Saadat) who had the inspiration to make a "peace" with Israel. Now they must pray to have a leader smart enough not to blow decades of peace based on religious and greedy hallucinations of "honor" and "military conquest". If Islamists win, Egypt loses everything. EVERYTHNG. Egypt will be divided between it's hateful Muslim neighbors and Israel which will need a buffer zone against the hyenas from Islamist Africa. I bet that the past, glorious Pharaos are turning in their Sarcophagi when they see what their successors did to their heritage.
18. Good luck Egypt
Yossef   (05.11.12)
in your way to democracy. We'll judge by the results. We must not be afraid by a democratic change in Egypt , the opposite: we must wish you a real democracy, then we'll speak, you and us, on an equal foot.
19. Only RETURN of Sinai (ASAP) can create BALANCE with Egypt.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (05.11.12)
20. Egypt on the Downward Path !!!.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (05.11.12)
21. US Aid
leo ,   nyc   (05.11.12)
US Congress, please note.... make sure to review any future aid requests from Egypt...
22. Another enemy of Israel goes active
TaylorT ,   Earth   (05.11.12)
But hey, God is on your side, so what does it matter? Iran getting nukes, Turkey and Egypt turning against Israel, the US having four more years of Obama, increasing calls in the EU to sanction Israel...not to mention Hamas, Hezbollah, etc., etc. What to do? Whatever you do, just don't make peace with the Palestinians and give them a state. If you do, your enemies will be marginalised, world opinion will favour Israel, support for Israel in the US and EU will be cemented, and Israel will regain the moral highground...what fun would this be? What you need to do is keep telling yourselves that the world hates you no matter what you do, that the 'arab world' is united in wanting your destruction, that people don't like Israel because of antisemitism and not because of the policies of your leaders (and the occupation.) If you don't keep telling yourselves all this, you might wake to reality, realise that you're wrong, stop the occupation, and live in peace. And who wants that?
23. Call their bluff
Steve from Raleigh   (05.11.12)
Break all relations with Egypt now. Tear up the treaty, expel the Egyptian diplomats and give all Egyptian nationals 5 days to leave the country. Cancel all contracts with all Egyptian companies and government agencies. Establish a new policy that all attacks from Sinai are attacks BY Egypt.
24. Conflict unfolding
(05.11.12)
A war with Egypt is inevitably on the horizon, not within the next decade, but within the next 1-3 years. I have long stated that Iran isn’t the “imminent” threat the media sure loves to portray it as. It serves as a mere smokescreen for the real conflict unfolding- led by the PA and Egypt. I’ve seen their hatred for Israel with my own eyes. The Egyptians will soon realize, if haven't already, that things are only going to get worse for Egypt. Their new president will turn out to be worse than his predecessor and his policies will utterly destroy the country and its people.
25. #17 yes they can
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.11.12)
They have unlimited stores of American weapons stored in bunkers. They have a huge young population they can't feed, educate or employ. If they don't have a war, the weapons will be wasted and the population will grow, more hungry, more illiterate, more hopeless, and simply more. If they have a war, nothing really bad can happen. Not only can Egypt afford a war with Israel, they can't afford not having a war with Israel. #15: keep writing: you are breath of fresh air.
26. Egypt wants to end the treaty who cares RIGHT ???
M.S. ,   mpls america   (05.11.12)
I realize that Egypt may want to alter change even end its treaty with Israel but in no way has it provided any thing for the Jews Israel but has allowed America the world to exploit us as it did in 1917 1938 we have seen this treaty be used as a tool by all those anti semetic people who like to take advantage of historicial weaknesses of the Jewish people Israel over the last 2 000 years to survive in the future may require bold moves even another Arab Jew Israel war then there is Iran Egypt is a Arab country the world favors the Arabs more because of land population thus this treaty gave more to them far less to Jews Israel ending it may ironicialy be a good thing for Israel and so thus I welcome any end Egypt may take as they want to advance in to the future with bold moves also too RIGHT ??? Thank You... M. S.
27. # 22 Taylor T
(05.11.12)
You're so typical of people who don't know shit about Israel. But don't kid yourself. When it comes to fighting wars, the IDF doesn't care what God is doing. It's all about the ass-kicking the Egyptians are going to get if it ever comes to a confrontation...and God has nothing to do with it.
28. If only Egyptian politicians were statesmen!
David ,   Hartford USA   (05.11.12)
This goes for all countries. Instead of looking out for a small group of loudmouth supporters, leaders should be truly considerinig what is best for their countries. The Egyptians wasted the last 30 years with their 'cold' peace with Israel. They could have created an oasis of peace and prosperity. But they chose to ignore their closest neighbor due to Arab League pressure and Brotherhood rumblings. Now Egypt is on the verge of being another failed state, with the military taking control to prevent the hardline Sharia-loving, Israel-hating nutjobs from stealing the government. If Egypt 'rethinks' the peace treaty, it's only because the new people in power are brain dead. Just look what's happening to Egypt's Christians- people being murdered almost daily, churches being burned to the ground, etc. And the Egyptian police and army do nothing. That fact should tell the world what Egypt is turning into: another Islamo-fascist state of terror. Israel had better complete the border fence soon.
29. If Egypt tries anything against Israel
BH ,   Iowa   (05.11.12)
They lose Billions in US aid. They lose all parts and support for all the weapons we've sent them. Egypt is playing real fast and loose with the Sinai.
30. PEACE?
marco ,   pardes hana   (05.11.12)
If push comes to shove, a nice little "fireworks" show on the Aswan Dam should keep the Egyptians quiet for a while.
