1. Send 'em 380 volts down the line
Cornholio   (05.14.12)
2. Just bomb their electrical plant. . . make life simple !
Moshe ,   Usa   (05.14.12)
They send you bombs, you send them bombs.
3. Aiding and Abetting the Enemy? Cut them OFF
deborah lurya ,   irvine   (05.14.12)
I agree, why the hell are we supporting and aiding our enemies??? Stupid!
4. A humanitarian act
Dan ,   Florida - Tel Aviv   (05.14.12)
Israel supplies the Gaza strip with electricity for free. We are repaid with violence, terrorism and more rockets killing innocent schoolchildren. The bigger issue is that Egypt cut off selling us Natural Gas reducing our electric generating capacity, We MUST attend to our own peoples needs first before considering giving away a precious resource. The time to shut off the electricity to Gaza is now. Maybe if they have to turn to serve the needs of their own people they will stop attacking Israel. In any event, no electricity for machine shops in Gaza means fewer rockets fired at us.
5. Cut them OFF
Alex ,   USA, Tempa   (05.14.12)
Tell them to go get their power from "Demacratic Egypt"
6. Minister Erdan is correct
Devorah   (05.14.12)
Israel has no business taking ownership of Gaza's problems at the expense of Israeli citizens because Gaza will never be self sufficient no matter who tries to help. Sorry for innocent victims of Hamas, but it's way past time to cut the power to this murderous enemy once and for all.
7. Raise the price of electricity
sk ,   USA   (05.14.12)
Raise the price of electricity to Gaza to somewhat offset the increase of gas prices due to the gas pipeline situation from Egypt. Also modify whatever agreements to include the cost of damage to life, limb and property caused by rockets fired from Gaza.
8. no you can't
Alexander ,   Greece   (05.14.12)
Israel helps Gaza and Gaza helps Israel... Good business for both sides and the world revolves around them (Jews and Arabs)
9. What has racism got to do with it?
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (05.14.12)
Let them fend for themselves already.
10. Truly electrifying...Another possibility.
deavman ,   Acco, Israel   (05.14.12)
I like Erdan, but even though we should worry first about our own problems, we have here a golden opportunity to do some good for the Gazans and indirectly promote peace. First we should have a campaign explaining the predicament in which our southern neighbors find themselves and not only keep supplying them with needed electricity but also doing it for free. Here in Israel, everyone must reduce its daily consumption so we are able to keep going without power shutdowns. Israeli Arabs should be all the more inclined to promote the idea and make it a popular demonstration of true solidarity toward other human beings regardless of political, financial, ideological considerations.
11. This is funny and sad.
sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (05.14.12)
What kind of government supplies electricity to a terrorist organization that lobs missiles at it's citizens, either Israel is weak or it's leaders stupid. That is equivalent to the USA supplying electricity to AL-QUADA.
12. Thank you. Straight, simple and to the point.
(05.14.12)
13. Murders get FREE Electricity while working citizens get a
Netanya ,   Netanya   (05.14.12)
huge price increase! Doesn't seem right! Why do we have to pay so much and then give away our electricity for free to those who are using it to make rockets to fire at us? Or using it to build tunnels to kidnap our soldiers. WTF! Let Iran pay for the electricity in Gaza!
14. Electric/Gaza
Sruly ,   Modiin Israel   (05.14.12)
Cutting the power to Gaza would not be any different then Egypt cutting gas supplies to Israel. These are business decisions, nothing more. Call someone a racist for this is just stupid and insulting. We must apply an equal standard to all. So if this is racist then is not Egypt decision also racist?
15. Israel's Food and Electricity for Rockets program.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.14.12)
It certainly in an interesting commercial program Israel has with Gaza. Israel sends Gaza food and electricity. Gaza sends Israel an unlimited supply of rockets; delivered without notice on our cities. You can't blame Gazans for this. If Israel is dumb enough to accept it. Why wouldn't Gaza take advantage?
16. #8 was that a joke?
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.14.12)
How does Gaza help us? By sending over 12,000 rockets at our cities? By planting bombs along the border? By invading our country and kidnapping our soldiers and holding them without any of the conditions of the Geneva Convention? Pray tell us how we are aided in anyway by those Nazi thugs?
17. How much will Israel pay me to fire missiles at it?
daniel ,   Amsterdam   (05.14.12)
18. good plan #1 but wrong voltage
Stu   (05.14.12)
they are running HT cables into gaza which is in the KVA range, best you could hope for would a series of power spikes that would cripple the sub station on there side of the line. Without spares they'll be stuffed for quite a while, never happen though while hevret hashmal can squeeze money out of them
19. Egypt (& #4 dan) - excellent idea !
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.14.12)
Tell Egypt that if they want Israel to supply electricity to gaza, they (the egyptians) have to increase the supply of gas to Israel so the necessary electricity can be produced. Otherwise, it is Egypt’s responsibility/fault if gaza does not have electricity.
20. How could anyone call this racist?
William ,   Israel   (05.14.12)
Cutting gas to enemies in Gaza is not a racist act. The fact that Gazans have waged a war on Israelis one ethnic group IS racist, and so is the world demanding that Israel accept such attacks while various nations around the world deal with their enemies in the proper way the law allows.
21. #8 - exactly how does Gaza help Israel?
William ,   Israel   (05.14.12)
22. Could you please explain to this Forum
(05.14.12)
What hamas or gazen's do for business? And how it benefits Israeli Society?
23. Logical? No, very logical!!
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.14.12)
24. Yes! Let Them (Try) To Be Independant
emanon ,   USA   (05.14.12)
arabs want to be independent of Israel? arabs want a world without Israel? let them start by taking on the the needs of their people, not spongin of the Jewish state that are seeking to destroy. I give them less than a week before riots break out over who is in control over power generation and how it is going to be distributed. Hamas party members first? Fatah party members first? Also cut Israels water going to Gaza and Israeli goods of any kind.
25. This "racist card" is being played...
Malone ,   Hfx   (05.14.12)
...far too often,as is "apartheid". How..in anyway can this be considered racist?. It's simply a matter of Israel looking out for #1,which is Israel, and the free loading pals can look to Egypt or else where..who cares.
26. These problems will be solved
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (05.14.12)
automatically, if a new Gaza- Sinai bedouin confederative state is created. They are close relatives and a lot of economic possibilities are to be discovered in their more than Israel-size territory.
27. No. 2 a little late, for your "idea"
Matt ,   UK   (05.14.12)
They did bomb it to dust in 2006 and 2008 and then abducted the chief engineer , last year. The power plant is only coming back on line after the bombings. Sorry to upset you and all...
28. Only thing gaza should get from Israel
A ,   Belgium   (05.14.12)
is an occaisonal visit from the IAF. No electricity, water, gas, medical supplies, hummus...NOTHING!
29. #16 #21
Alexander ,   Greece   (05.14.12)
okay stop aiding! cut off electricity and I will believe you
30. Folks forget what it was like before 1967 war
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (05.14.12)
From 1949 to 1967 Gaza was under Egyptian military administration. Israel during that time provided *nothing* to Gaza. Not water, not electricity, not fuel, not food, not supplies. Only after Israel's victory did they begin to address the horrid conditions in the Strip. From 1967-1987, Israel expended vast sums improving Gaza's infrastructure - its roads, electricity, water and sewage lines - as well as its education and health needs. The result was a radical improvement not only in all measures of social welfare, but economic measures as well. Agricultural productivity, literacy, and average incomes all advanced substantially. Yet now, after Israel has disengaged from Gaza, it is still expected to provide for Gaza's essential needs. Something is wrong with this picture.
