You said the truth without being naïf
2. If only they were all as enlightened as Barack Hussein Obama
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (05.15.12)
they'd know that it was not Adam and Eve in the Garden, rather Adam and Steve.
3. Wrong
Doug ,   U.S.   (05.15.12)
This is nothing to be proud of. If you feel otherwise, then in what way can Israel be thought of as a Jewish state?
4. "Tel Aviv a HOLY emerald city for GAYS" OXYMORON of the year
Benjamin ,   Ramat HaSharon   (05.15.12)
How sad it is that the secular community in the Jewish land no less are so warped and perverted, they have no concept of right and wrong; holy and profane; moral and immoral; mercy and cruel.
5. That's how Israel is ! A free country !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (05.15.12)
Free for everyone's orientation , as long the relationship is between two consenting adults . Yes , we can be proud of it . Now , comparing us to the neighbooring countries , and be better , is not difficult . In many developped countries gays can parade , become prime minister and so on . That's the 21st century .
6. you are wrong
aaron   (05.15.12)
The jewish people are a race. The characteristic of a Jewish state does not mean it has to be a religious state. Israel is a country where citizens are governed by secular law, which allows freedoms for all. Relgious law has its place, but in certain things such as marriage, but unlike in arab countries these laws only apply to jews.
7. What do Orthodox Rabbis propose for gays?
Sam ,   Canada   (05.15.12)
If it were up to Orthodox Rabbis in Israel what would they do with the gays? The bible seems clear.
8. Meotti is right, Israel means FREE
Daniel ,   US   (05.15.12)
9. Like it or not, gays are welcome in Israel
Shimon Rosenfeld ,   NY   (05.15.12)
10. sweet irony
jj   (05.15.12)
read the article, then read the hate flow in through the talkbacks. you're actually making an excellent point, ynet.
11. A nice article for a change
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (05.15.12)
May be the rest of the world will see Israel in a different light after reading this story. I hope all arab gays find their way to Israel before being killed by their own crawl people. May be the Torah does not agree with "Gays" but the G-d of the Jews loves his creation no matter what.
12. Meotti would think differently if he read Ynet comments
Kim ,   --   (05.15.12)
Which are filled with homophobia by "enlightened" Israelis. Sure, you don't kill them like Iran. But since when have Iran and Saudi Arabia become the golden norm for how nations should act?
13. TelAviv
Simon ,   London   (05.15.12)
The Bar Noar in Tel Aviv on 1st Aug 2009 - 2 poeple killed by those fantical zealots you have in your country. Like the men who spit at children for being 'immodestly' dressed. This is not freedom. Its called PINKWASHING....
14. We should be ashamed, not proud!
Sam ,   Israel   (05.15.12)
History shows again and again that as homosexuals become more accepted in a society, that society declines. This is nothing to be proud of.
15. Meotti tells the truth
Dina Gross   (05.15.12)
The fact that religious people don't share the gays' culture doesn't mean that we should not be proud of Israel's record
16. #13 you are wrong
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.15.12)
The murder at Bar Hanoar is still unsolved. Political elements in police and AG wanted to pin this terrible crime on religious Zionists, even forcing a prisoner to admit the crime he could not have committed. When it turned out that no religious, Right-wing or Zionist was involved in this crime, the AG and police lost interest and stopped investigating. The murderer is still at large.
17. Against G-d's will
ZionistBecky ,   Israel   (05.15.12)
is no way to live and we will not be blessed because it. We probably shouldn't kill them like in Iran, but we certainly shouldn't encourage them.
18. What? Why should we be proud of this?
ZionistBill ,   Israel   (05.15.12)
19. Meotti? Is this really you?
Esther ,   Israel   (05.15.12)
I have come to have much respect for your articles which relate how the entire world doesn't like the Jews. And now this? Perhaps the world would have more respect for us if we followed the Torah instead of the degenerate secularism of the West.
20. to # 19 and Meotti
Jennifer Stein ,   US   (05.15.12)
Following the Torah doesn't mean that gays must be lapidated or killed. Israel is a light unto the nations because it knows how to protect human beings who otherwise would be tortured and killed. That's the difference between Islam and Israel
21. Homosexuals prejudiced too
David N. ,   Haifa, ISRAEL   (05.15.12)
Not accepting homosexuality is different from torturing, humiliating, or executing a homosexual. Please do NOT equate disagreement with homosexuality with a desire to be cruel or to inflict pain on anyone. I know that it is politically incorrect to disagree with popular opinion in this matter, but do not make false assumptions about Torah belief meaning narrow-minded bigotry. Our society is filled with both saints and sinners of all descriptions, and I am certain that G-d is quite displeased with all the unfaithful heterosexual husbands and wives around these days. Meanwhile, plurality should also mean that homosexuals must not be bigoted or prejudiced or narrow-minded against those who have a different life style--namely belief in G-d and Torah, and who do them no harm.
22. If you are going to use me for PR, I want full rights
gay Israeli ,   Israel   (05.15.12)
Currently, gays and lesbians cannot marry and adopt children like hetro couples.
23. Remember what happened in Sodoma...
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome-Italy   (05.15.12)
There are lots of thing to be proud of,but not for been a sodomite... You are free to be gay,but you can choose life and not death...Sodoma di not happened in the past only, history will repeat in every generation.God made a man and a woman, and gays have to decide what they are.Or a ma,or a woman...
24. #22, gays can marry in Israel ... full rights?
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.15.12)
... a member of the opposite gender, just as heteros can marry members of the opposite gender. Adopting should be remedied (if it has not been already), can't a single parent adopt? I'll guess not. If not categorized as a mental illness, gay adults should be able to adopt children, but the right will come sooner rather than later. Regarding full rights: Hetero couples cannot marry and adopt children like Haredi couples. This is not going to change soon (and maybe even not later), so choose your battles and weigh your rights in prespective.
25. three cheers for Israel
Twice Blessed   (05.15.12)
wish I was there to celebrate ! Israel libre !
26. #4 - Benjamin - if you only have stupid comments....
Andy ,   Washington, DC   (05.15.12)
Then you should just keep your mouth shut.
27. Gay equality
Daniel ,   Tel aviv   (05.15.12)
Israel is in many ways more enlightened and offers equality to gay citizens that far exceeds the rights of gays in parts of Europe and the US. While gays cannot marry IN Israel marriages performed in other countries are recognised. Few heterosexual people in Israel can now meet the burden of proof asked for by the Rabinate and opt to marry Chu'l. As for those using the bible to denounce gay equality or existence, remember ALL the things the bible says. Do not pick and choose to suit your bigotry. Stone adulterers. Stone people who break Shabbat etc. Biblical law is violent. It can make Sharia law seem tame.
28. TO # 20
Rica ,   FL, USA   (05.15.12)
I am not sure if you read what you wrote. In any case, let me add to your lack of knowledge. God gave the Israelite the Torah-(Book of Laws) and said: if you will keep all my commandments, I will bless you, if you will not I will curse you. Adonai sure kept HIS word. His attention were to have us as a light to the nations. The real question is....ARE WE? We fail and keep failing miserably as a nation and as individuals. I give thanks to my heavenly father for HIS word, love, mercy and PLANE for all humanity. Messiah YESHUA came once, and will come again to take HIS True BRIDE before the wrath of GOD on this earth, just like HE did in NOAH time, but this time is for ever. My prayers are that the children of Israel will repent ASAP and come back to their loving GOD. He will refine them and than will make them the LIGHT to the nations. Read the BIBLE from Gen to Rev and get knowledge with the WORD of the TRUE GOD OF ISRAEL. Be Blessed.
29. Gays prove Torah again! Well done! (@ Rap)
Opinion   (05.15.12)
As funny as it sounds!)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) But Torah says that it doesn't matter how you are to show your allegiance with nations, but at some point in time they will hate you anyway. This is a perfect example: world gays don't like the Israeli gays because they persecute Arabs (they are actually saving). And this is despite the fact that Tel Aviv is the WORLD GAY CITY. All I can say That despite you're a gay There's nothing to say Against those who blame That you are a Jew And they'll anyway hate you. So think, don't repeat the mistake Be smart, Jewish gay!)))))))))
30. Disgusted
Anton ,   Israel   (05.15.12)
I'm surprised at you Ynet. I thought you were on G-d's side. You're not. If Israel isn't careful, we'll end up like Eurabia. Do any of you really want to live in a G-d forsaken place like Londistan?
