31. This is nothing to be proud of
Baruch ,   Boston, USA   (05.15.12)
The fact that Israel doesn't decapitate or otherwise abuse homosexuals is fine, but today most countries do not. But to glorify such an unnatural lifestyle and to equate it with the noble relationship of a man and his wife is purely a sign of the degradation of western society, which is occurring in other areas as well, like assisted suicide, legalization of drugs, late-term abortions, legalization of prostitution, proliferation of gambling casinos, transgender acceptance, etc. this is a seriously sad time for society, and those who criticize Torah or religious people are just in fear that the mainstream will come to its senses and start pushing back against all the lunacy.

you give gays rights but discriminate against women. gays don't normally hate women. so what's wrong with you?
33. #19 - Esther
Eric ,   Toronto   (05.15.12)
Please do not criticize Mr. Meotti for being proud of Israel's treatment of gays. Mr. Meotti is quite above people like yourself who despise anyone different from what they represent. Gays are people too. For your information, they have NOT chosen to be gay. As human beings they deserve to be happy like the rest of us. We in Canada have understood this, and our gays have all the rights you have but gays don't have in Israel, such as marriage and child adoption. And Canada has not been struck by punishments from God.Au contraire, Canada is one of the best countries to live in today.
34. OF this and of this article no one
Israeli 2   (05.15.12)
should be proud. It is a most disgusting pride for naught.
35. Hey Meotti - After reading the talkbacks; What do you think
jj   (05.15.12)
of your wonderfully enlightened and compassionate Israeli brethren?
36. #30, you thought Ynet was on God's side? LOL
Jake ,   USA   (05.15.12)
Ynet is blatantly biased against religion, especially the Jewish religion. Its obvious after reading this website for one week.
37. Israel is a light upon the nations
gays4Israel ,   Toronto   (05.15.12)
kisses to all the hunky Israeli soldiers (women too) !
38. General reply to all
gelb   (05.15.12)
1. The blabbering heads - some of them vicious anti-Israelis - are so wrong that it is pathetic on ots face. Yes, Israel's strict rabbinic establishment does not allow same sex marriage, but the state made it a policy to *accept* all homosexual marriages conducted abroad as LEGAL and even allows adopting children as well, if they brought them with themselves in case of making aliya or if the child is related to one of the partners. So don't mislead others you primitives! 2. Sarah Schulman as I have contacted here on facebook and told her bravely is a well-known base antisemite who is active in the "Destroy Israel and kill its Jews!" campaign. so much about the credibilityof this racist Niemand! But no wonder that her antisemitic screed gains exposure in a paper like the NYTimes, they are the evry same mentality. Thank you Meotti for your excellent and fine, true piece again!
39. To Simon, London
Jerold S.   (05.15.12)
Only hardcore antisemties and anti-Israel activists bent on the destruction of the jewish state use this disgusting smear "pinkwashing" coined up by the self-hating gay lobby to sucker up to the Arabs and Muslims and other homophobes all the while spreading poisonous and false propaganda against Israel.
40. to Baruch - No. 31
Simon ,   London   (05.16.12)
Thank god people like you are in the minority. Like it or not - your old antiquated way of living are coming to an end. Europe leads the world in acceptance and toleration. Stay in Boston please.
41. gay pride...
Abie Dee ,   New York, US   (05.16.12)
For all the people here who are revolted by the gay lifestyle and Israel's acceptance of it, would you rather line all gay people up against the wall and have them stoned? Would following the Torah's command make you feel better ? And perhaps we should do the same for all those people who are cheating on their spouses, simply stone them to death. Hmmm, sounds pretty much like the Taliban to me.
42. Jewish Secular Humanism: Gay is OK
Mark ,   Australia   (05.18.12)
As a Jew , once I realized that the whole bible story is only a cultural myth and that Halacha has no supernatural authority , I have been able to embrace my gay jewish brothers and sisters with the love and respect that jewish humanistic values dictate they (like all people) deserve. That many in Israel do the same , and that Israeli laws protect their rights to do so, is to be celebrated.
