and mothers. This 'hazing' is not only weak and a non-issue, it helps to forge the bonds between combat soldiers that all of the people persecuting the Givati soldiers have never and will never experience.
3. Well and good
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.17.12)
All well and good that the soldiers involved were punished appropriately, but what about their officers? This cannot be occurring so regularly without the officers knowing about it - and if they don't that is just as bad!
4. #2 careful...
Ze'ev ,   Nbg, germany   (05.17.12)
thats not a report of a code red, scott. Its about humiliation among people which should be brothers. Humiliation never let grow brotherhood ship, imo, it just causes hate to raise...
5. This behavior
Jewish Patriot ,   Galut   (05.17.12)
This behavior was common among ex communist countries, not glad to hear that it happens in the IDF too...
6. The punishment is too soft and too meek
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.17.12)
If IDF soldiers behave accordingly, they should be placed in prison at least for 1-2 years - preferably 3-5 years, and be expelled from the IDF on a permanent basis - without any legal right to appeal the legal decision, and future employers in Israel should be notified of these IDF officers' behavior - making it impossible for them to get a job. The best way to treat a bully is to bully the bully.
7. To nr 2 - Scott, you don't forge brotherly relations..
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.17.12)
..among soldiers by abusing them, beating them up or harassing them. This mentality that it's "ok" to "toughen up" soldiers by bullying them is wrong - it creates internal hatred and conflict. You cannot forge a unit based on fear, tyranny and bullying. It will not work on a long term basis. And Scott: this is not Rambo - ok? This is not some cheap American B action movie. We are talking about real human beings with feelings. Toughen up soldiers by encouraging them and confronting them with deadly situations and put pressure on them in the training - but never bully them.

9. Scott your such an @$$
Gideon ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (05.18.12)
You don't even live in Israel. This is not some gay frat that you probably joined in America. We join the army to serve our country , or nation with our lives. The IDF is seriously more weak then it has been in the past, but kicking some idiot kid in the balls will not toughen him home. There should be a volunteer army, with professional warriors... Scott, grow a pair move here and join the IDF, and then some one can kick you in your pair when you get here if your really such a tough guy.
