What is the difference between a haredi who choses not to serve because as you say the law allows it and those draft dodgers and deserters other than the fact one is not serving legally the other is breaking the law to do it? People are obsessed with the idea of forcing the haredi to serve but there doesn't seem to be any real condemnation of secular draft dodgers who the law says must serve. Secular draft dodgers who claim they are against occupation etc they are treated as heros by the left but the same people who call them heros hate the hardi for legally choosing not to serve. I have no problem with the idea of making the haredi serve providing its done in a slow and responsible to avoid screw ups and help them integrate rather than a rushed job because secular people want to see them in the army. There needs to be though equally as much if not more public condemnation of secular draft dodgers and deserters.

There are many young people who serve and honorably fulfill their responsibilities. There is no excuse for cowardice when the stakes are so high, as it relates to Israel's tenuous position; Israel's very existence hangs in the balance.

I think a couple of definitions are in order here: Draft Dodger: Anyone who realizes that he is not the property of the state and refuses to submit to military slavery. Deserter: Anyone exercising their right to quit a job. I would like to give special kudos to those "draft dodgers and deserters" who had the courage to resist the tyranny of the IDF kidnappers. Any resistance in this case is merely individuals exercising the right to self defense. It is the same as a slave resisting a slave owners attempt to drag him back into slavery. The use of force, up to and including deadly force, is justified as self defense.

If it is a problem now with Israel not being in a real conflict since 1973 can you imagine what the number will be if bibi is successful and gets Israeli forces into a long land war in Asia? Iran lost a million men when attacked by Iraq. It is a fright to just think about how bad things can get in a long war.
