A fourteen year old is legally a juvenile, and juveniles are not treated as adults in Israeli courts (although they frequently are in the United States). An eighteen year old is a legal adult. This criminal will not be treated as a juvenile.

You are asking the wrong question. What you should be asking (all sarcasm aside) is what is anti-social about wanting an attempted murderer -- who happens to be eighteen years old -- to receive his just desserts? I doubt very much that the knife he wielded knew (or cared) about his age. If someone attacked you with a knife, why, I just bet the very first question you would ask is "How old are you?" Isn't that right?
