The euro is on the verge of collapse here, Germany is has just given Greece a second bailout worth hundreds of billions of euros and its looking like they might even default on that. Italy, Spain and Portugal are on the verge of going under and America has a $15 trillion debt. The G8 though have though decided they should spend more money and help out the arabs because they decided to get rid of their dictators which in most cases has made the situation even worse. Egypt was once a western puppet and today its run by the Muslim Brotherhood. It used to sell billions of dollars of gas to Israel now not only are the gas pipelines being blown up every other week but they have flat refused to sell the stuff. How exactly do they intend to help Syria in a post Assad world? May end up with a civil war and even if it doesn't Assad is selling off all the countries assets like the gold cheap so he can buy weapons. Reconstruction will be in the tens if not hundreds of billions and unlike the Egyptian market the Syrian economy has always been closed an not open to the outside world meaning its just not ready to start borrowing money and pay it back. Egypt & Syria can rebuild their economies alone and the rest of the world is not going to be affected if these countries have economic problems.

Arab countries who actually need financial help should look to the wealthy oil producing countries of the Middle East,which have accumulated enormous sums of cash. But, then, it would require a little imagination - in short supply in the Arab world. If these countries would only seek economic development, expanded educational oppotunities for their peoples,and peace with their neighbors much of their problems would go away.Hatred by the Arab world against others is much easier for them than building their own open and democratic societies.
