1. Horrific loss of life...very sad day for us Jews..
Al   (05.22.12)
Please if you are going to have a car take care of it and make sure it works properly. I see in my own town here in Montreal, Jewish familes driving their kids about in junk boxes. IF cars are too expensive to maintain then get rid of them and take public transport. Israel has one of the best public transport systems in the world and considering the number of people they transport each year, it is very efficient and safe.

Israel has one of the best public transport systems in the world Al, you should come more often to Israel cause Israel is far from having the best public transportation in the world... it's more like third world country where trains burst into flames in a middle of a journey. No transportation on saturdays And trains still run on diesel here by the way.. what's modern about this?
4. Crash
Mike ,   Uk   (05.22.12)
I am sorry to read about this story and in particular the deaths of innocent children. The facts appear religious parents packing their numerous kids into the vehicle and inevitable happens. It seems to happen to religious families in spectacular ways, car hitting a train several months ago. Too many kids, irresponsible parents and driving jammed pack in their vehicles, sometimes like maniacs. A sad case.

when are you leaving troll?

Al   (05.22.12)
modern. Learn to appreciate Israel before you l lose it. Close your borders to the invaders and start taking care of your own instead of importing people to clean your toilets, take care of your kids and tend to your elderly. Israel is doing very well considering the shitty neighbourhood you live in.

MetroNorth, which is a one of the commuter rail transportation systems for New York and Connecticut, runs on diesel north of Croton Harmon (to Poughkeepsie) and east to Connecticut. It is one of the best and most reliable train systems in the United States. When heavy rains (and, in our case, snow) shorts out the electrified tracks stranding hundreds of thousands of commuters, those big old diesel trains keep chugging through. Nothing old-fashioned about getting from Point A to Point B in a timely fashion, now, is there?
8. Al, visit Lebanon - it's beautiful !
Gregg ,   Haifa, IL   (05.22.12)
And people are wonderful there (I have many Lebanese friends and visit them as often as I can)

I loved Lebanon when I visited about 30 and 35 years ago, it is indeed a beautiful place and used to have friendly people. But Gregg, Al is a Jew so if he went to Lebanon he would be either murdered or kidnapped, by either Shi'ite Hezbolla or Sunni forces.
11. Jumping to conclusions
Israeli grandma   (05.22.12)
I read elsewhere that the vehicle had passed the roadworthy test 3 months ago. For those of you not living in Israel, this is quite a thorough test. However, machines can and do malfunction, this was a tragic accident. Also the roads in the area are hard on brakes and everything else.
12. Baruch Dayan Emet and speedy recovery 4 survivor!

13. Dear L-rd, Who are these ignorant TBers?
Ami ,   Israel   (05.22.12)
Tov, never mind...I am sure that You are busy with other things. However, please do give the ignorant TBers here a bit of enlightenment and help them to realize that their extremely stupid (which clearly can NOT be fixed) is NOT fun to read! Thank You.
14. Poor little girl
North Star ,   North of Israel   (05.22.12)
I can't think of anything else. I'm certain she will be embraced by the extended family and will continue to be loved / but what a horrific way to lose father, mother and all six siblings. They look like a wonderful and warm family. What a pity, what a terrible loss. There is no need to blame anyone. We all have no idea what happened. Machines malfunction. It happens. There is no need to drag politics into this. It's a tragedy, and wherever it happens, humans should spare a human thought for loss and suffering. I was saddened by the loss of Palestinian schoolchildren's lives, too. And the Belgian children. No matter the circumstances. When we don't recognize tragedies any more, we have lost our tzelem enosh.
15. a tragedy but
Mike ,   London, UK   (05.22.12)
what about the hundreds of people killed every year on Israeli roads - the death toll is shockingly high, complete carnage and yet no one seems to give a damn. The best way for the Arabs to defeat Israel? Buy every Israeli a car.
16. May the God of Israel dry your tears.....

(05.22.12)
I witnessed countless of poorly maintained cars, and illegal usage of cars: unqualified drivers, overloaded cars and cars where not everybody had his belt. Invariably, these irresponsible road criminals started to shout at me for daring to stop them. When faced with this situation, I simply showed them that they must be thankful for being stopped before their family was killed in an accident. While stopping them and serving them with a court order, I was making sure that their entire family - wife and kids -hear that he was an irresponsible criminal by putting everybody in the car, and the other drivers in harms way just for saving a few shekels. Faced with this reality, his family had a full perspective, and the instinctive hate they have for the police, was transforming into accusing glances towards the driver. This was defusing the situation and hopefully, with his "honor" shattered and with his "ego" dominated by the reality seen through his family eyes, the driver was being transformed into a docile criminal who'd do anything just to get over with the public shaming. I am proud to (hopefully) saving many families by exposing these irresponsible and violent road criminals. I say, STOP THE EASY punishments for these criminals who murder our and their families due to poor education and violent behavior. Institute harsh punishments for these road criminals and crime will go down.
18. Tragedy in north, Barrier Wrong
Dan ,   RishonLezion, Israel   (05.22.12)
I'm convinced that the inner cement barrier they hit which they flew over is installed backwards. The flat side should be against the vehicle in the curve of the road and the curved side of the barrier is to back it up from tipping over. I hope that someone will investigate this. May they rest in peace.

Shalom Hartman   (05.22.12)
What the hell makes you say that? The car had just passed it's test; it was a large enough car for everyone to have been safely seated. They called the emergency services. You and people like you can't see past your own prejudices Dear family - rest in peace!
20. Breaking news!
gelb   (05.22.12)
The car passed its regulatory revision only 3 months before the horrible tragedy and supposedly there was no problem. This piece of total journalistic failure left out to tel that the brakes were totally useless. The question of course is, simply CANNOT be other than *dereliction of duty* by the damned cursed mechanics and their bosses (!!!), like hundreds, thousands of other cases in Israel!!! This is NOT an "accident". This is attempted murder by abominable profeteers!!!
21. To Gregg number 3

Denmark's trains run also on diesel, and Denmark is considered as one of the most advanced countries in the world.
22. what a terrible tragedy
sue ,   jerusalem   (05.22.12)
I have no words for the remaining daughter. how this vehicle passed the test.......the inspector should be sent to jail for life. this is a serious thing if one pays for a test - one relies on what they say. whom can we trust???? n our society is changing for the negative. everything is "hafif" sad sad sad.
23. Type of car
Kristina Hawthorne ,   Omer, Israel   (05.22.12)
I wonder what kind of car they were driving? Cars shouldn't burst into flames like that. Something must have been horribly wrong with the vehicle. Does anyone know what make the car was?
24. Its no brake malfunction...

Its a drunk Jew at the steering wheel...

26. Checked and came up with the following:
Shai ,   Israel   (05.23.12)
The family was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Grandis according to stats for this mini-van: 1. it is meant to carry the driver and 6 other passengers for a total of 7 passengers. 2. At the moment the car "lost" its brakes there were 9 passengers in the car. The sole survivor, survived because she was sitting in her mother's lap in the front seat. 3. The two points I could not find information on was: a. how often since the car was checked did it carry overweight? b. besides human passengers how much cargo (additing additional weight) was in the car. Basically as unfortunate as this tragedy is it seems that it was caused by errors in decision making of the parents in over loading the car.
27. # 24
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.24.12)
You are wrong. The breaks were faulty. The break did not work. The driver was not drunk. Dont you dare come here & spread useless lies.
28. # 26
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.24.12)
The sole survivour of this crash is a 7 year old female child who survived because she was thrown clear out of the car.
29. # 8
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.24.12)
There is public transport on Shabbat (Saturday) in Haifa. As an Israeli you are not allowed to visit Lebanon. I wonder how you, as a non-Jew, get round this law?? Ever thought of going to live there on a permanent basis??
30. One day
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.24.12)
Gregg will open his mouth to bash Israel for the millionth time when some extra pro-Israeli will knock the living daylights out of this uncouth specimen of a troll named Gregg. Take care Gregg, Israelis have very short fuses.
