62. #60 How dare you? I'm as patrotic an American as they come.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (05.23.12)
Therefore, I've taken a solemn vow not to pass out candy after the US is hit with nuclear terrorism, which it inevitably will be.
63. #13 michael - good post, esp re: #1
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.23.12)
but he won’t read it. Or he will but won’t admit to it.
64. #16 haim - agree
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.23.12)
Even Eshkol said that without the major powers, they wouldn’t have been able to fight the Six Day War (Six Days of War by Michael Oren).
65. #23 williamson
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.23.12)
And who appointed you as spokesperson for the US? You should at least be aware of facts, real facts, those facts that you choose to ignore. Israel DOES train our troops in fighting in built-up areas, it DOES share their technology upgrades to our equipment (yes, there are upgrades; we aren’t perfect), it DOES share intelligence (HUMINT) which is difficult for them to get, impossible for us. And what you want to do is to form an alliance with those who committed 9/11 and danced in the streets while doing it?! Yea, right...

Many countries contributed to Germany’s defeat. No one country could have done it alone. We supplied the Russians with much arms and ammunition. If it weren’t for the US supplying the Russians, they may very well have lost. Their attacks kept German troops on the eastern front while we (and the British and others) opened up a western front on D-Day. Let’s not forget the southern front; through Italy.

solomon ,   bklyn   (05.23.12)
I don’t think you’d want to repeat such garbage to any American (Japanese or German for that matter) who fought in the war. In fact I highly recommend you don’t.
68. #50 magpie - demographics?
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.23.12)
Which demographics are you talking about? Jews are a distinct minority in the US. And surveys have shown that most Americans support Israel. Live in your dreamworld if you like, but is has no relation to reality.
69. #56 tom
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.23.12)
Many Isrealis are grateful for the assistance. If this is the only website you read regarding Israel, it probably means this is what you want to read. It makes it easier for you to write what you write...and make believe that you know the “truth”.
70. #46 williamson
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.23.12)
1. “The contribution of Israel to our military is completely irrelevant.” Our military doesn’t seem to agree with you. 2. “The Gulf States are quickly becoming our solid allies and cultural and religious differences are not affecting our relations.” Our government has tried that for years; still ain’t happening. 3. “more reliable friends in the Middle East” Like those who committed 9/11 and danced in the streets while doing it?! You need a serious reality check.
71. #60 ds
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.23.12)
You have no idea what “chosen people” means. Oops; yes you do. You have been corrected many times. Keep acting dumb (is it really an act?). Your greasy arrogance is going to be the death of you, as you are ungrateful for what Israel gives the US in return for assistance. Read some of the posts above. On second thought, don’t. Your world view would be shattered and you wouldn’t be able to take it.
72. @39 hmm... G-d wasn't driving Sharon's tank on Yom Kipur.

Even though I generally respect your opinion, and don't see you as an adversary, I am not overly enamored with American propaganda and really don't have much time for it.
74. to #23: "enough with israel"
tom ,   toronto, canada   (05.23.12)
i presume that by "gulf states" you include saudi arabia, the birthplace of osama bin ladin and most of the 9/11 hijackers? those are your "allies" with the "friendlier attitued" (sic)?! yeah, right! you are a certifiable idiot.

the senate just offered a bill to expand the aid to palestinian authority and some projects in gaza via the pa and also has given egypt over 2.9 billion annualy in aid for its economy. we have not heard you complaining about this aid to arab enemies of the usa. why not????
77. What about Abram Tanks
joe Sombrero ,   usa   (05.23.12)
With emerging threats in Egypt and Syria Where ate the tanks to replace Israel's ageing Tank and Armored forces?
78. Only the USA and Israel Have Any Clout
Noah Lev ,   LosangelesUSA   (05.23.12)
The US and West must begin to stop the NWMO shaping up in the M.E. (New World Muslim Order). Not all Muslim nations are culprits however. A democratic Egypt/Jordan, can be our friends. Libya is marginal..and Tunisia loyal. Israel is still our best friend, among thse countries and others. no matter what the diehard hating Israelis say. Sure, the move will get some more Jewish votes..but so what. Obama already has us in his pockets... I am a Republican BTW and proud. I wont, like other Jews, vote against my self-interests. (from the old Roosevelt days). Jews, like Arabs, should give 50% to each party..keeping them kosher so to speak. That's how geo-politics is played. ?Turkey demands Israel not be included in any NATO activities..from training to radar This would make them eat their words. If Turkey wants to side with the devil, so be it. It may get burned or roasted. I like the F35Eagles..but Israel needs bunker busters and refueling capability, away from borders..should it take out Iran's 33 nukes sites. Also permission to fly over Iraq straight towards Tehran, etc. Russia/China are playing the Muslim card...but the US, Israel and the West can also play wargames. In the meantime, to see the future when the West is impotent..look at Syria.. Both the EU and UN are helpless..lots of talk and no action.

The idea of the chosen people has actually been misunderstood because it doesn't mean God chose the Jews it mean they chose God. God offered the Torah to all the nations and they all chose to reject it but the Jews chose to adopt it. They were rewarded for accepting it in the form of the promised land but the actual idea of chosen people would more accurately be described as chosen God and his Torah.
80. Thank you America & G-d Bless you
Viroman ,   London, England   (05.23.12)
As a Jew living in Europe who witnesses first hand the anti-Israel agenda of the media and left wing, i think some of the comments here are out of line. America is a good friend and i would like to thank the American public for there majority support, something which we shouldn't take for granted. Thank you America and G-d Bless you
81. Just a few facts for the racists here
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.23.12)
First off - loan guarantees cost nothing because we are only one of two countries in the entire world that have always paid the US back on time for loans. The intelligence transfer costs the US nothing, because the US has the satellites and we supply roughly ten times as much human intelligence to the US as all of NATO combined (that's according the US by the way). Our technology has saved the US about 5 times the amount of aid that we get per year (again according to the US). Training - we supply lots to the US and the US helps us. Common enemies - common training. Kind of works that way. The US supplied exactly zero aid to Israel until 1974. We bought what we could until then and that wasn't even allowed until after the '67 War. We have bought over $50 billion in US debt to help America, what have the Egyptians done for their $2.8 billion a year? Three quarters of the aid is spent in America - giving work to guess what Americans! Those are just a few of the facts of our relationship with America.
82. #73 noodles
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.23.12)
I am talking facts, not propaganda. Before the US entered the war they supplied the brits with enough to help them keep going. They supplied the Russians through Murmansk, not an easy thing to do. I do not consider what I read about jungle fighting in the Pacific as propaganda. If someone says that that kind of fighting is not 'fighting like men' it makes me question their sanity. Many times my posts end with “read some history”. I must end the same way now. Just because you say its propaganda doesn't make it so. In fact overwhelming evidence is to the contrary.

David ,   USA   (05.23.12)
Once again you are 100% correct! Those who imply that this is payment to Israel to not attack Iran knows little about American government. If it were the Obama administration pushing this I would probably agree with that accusation, however it is the Senate and House. The people are speaking indeed! Thank you Sarah!
84. #82 Solomon
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (05.23.12)
Yes, you have made some valid points which I will not dispute, but on the flip-side of the coin, what did the US do for the Jews dying like vermin in concentration camps, except not even lift a finger, and wash their hands of them, even though they had the means at their disposal to do something, and then turn around and show a horrified face to the world? I also think you know the real reason they dropped those bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, just purposely wiping out thousands of innocent civilians. And today's America is little more than an open cesspool spewing raw sewage into the world through the media and other outlets, yet proclaim it has the moral authority to decide whether Israel should or shouldn't build a house in E. Jerusalem. Sheer hypocrisy. Yes, America has done a lot of good in past times, but those days are gone and it has a lot of blood on it's hands which it will have to answer for. Mind you, I don't think Israel is any better, but G-d is obligated to Israel, despite her folly, not to America.
85. What about helping Americans?
Ben ,   Hawaii, USA   (05.23.12)
Spyguy- We are helping Americans by helping Israel. I am a spy guy too and worked on Israel's capture of a special weapon in 1978 intended for us. They are our stalwart against Islamic expansionism. My idea is why not cut off aid to enemy nations like Pakistan.
86. #84 noodles
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.24.12)
You are right in some things, but wrong, very wrong, in others. First: we were speaking of your statements regarding Americas role in WW2! Instead of responding, you bring up America not bombing the camps. You are right about that, but you are still wrong about your original claims. Is your avoidance of that topic agreement that your statement was not true? The "real reason" you post that America dropped the atom bomb is YOUR "real reason", not mine. I know of no such reason. The reason was to force Japan to surrender, thereby saving many American lives. The tenacious Japanese defense of their Pacific islands led the US to believe that an invasion of Japan would be costly to the extreme. While the US has no authority to tell Israel what to do, it is also not "an open cesspool spewing raw sewage into the world". It is still the main leader in democracy. It fails in many things but also succeeds in many things. Yes, it has blood on its hands (who doesn't?). Yes it has done a lot of good. But what lies ahead is not necessarily evil, a priori. Your one-sided myopic view of the world is distorted. And not wholely true.

90. Israeli aid
PJW5552 ,   Lexington, USA   (05.24.12)
The US Congress is completely out of touch with reality. It has maintained a long standing policy of "whatever Israel wants, it gets" and even "hey let me do even more than Israel wants". Conflicts are not solved by embracing one perspective and ignoring the other. That is like trying to solve for two unknowns with a single math equation. By setting one variable to whatever you like you get whatever you want. This is precisely how the US Congress has dealt with the ME problems and has decided it will continue to deal with them. They are not solving anything. They are contributing and facilitating the conflict believing that if they only focus on one variable (Israel), somehow the other variable (Palestinians) because irrelevant. Sorry, but conflict resolution doesn't work like that. However, this is also why the US Congress doesn't work. They have forgotten that politics is about compromise, not imposing ones perspective upon the opposite side by power or force.
