You're missing the biggest threat to the demographic issue ---- the settlements. I believe this is a far bigger issue and more serious issue that impacts the demographics on the ground. Israel should actually do a proper job this time of providing alternative accomodation for the settlers and entice them to move out. Not like what was done in Gaza. This article just confuses and misdirects the real issue. I don't think it will lead to peace but it's not after suicide bombings so the Palestinians won't ascribe the reason the settlers were removed was due to violence.

There are an estimate 30,000 African asylum seekers in Israel now. That is only 0.4% of the Israeli population. So far there are only 4-5 reported rapes by Africans. Even if that is half the actual amount, that is only 0.3% of the Africans. This is scapegoating.

I just said we should adhere to the law, and yes, that does apply to immigration. As for "refugees", I'm all for protecting them. But if YOU read many of the articles out there, you'd discover that an extremely small number of the immigrants are actually legally defined as refugees by the Geneva Convention. So yes, I stick by my comment that immigration is fine as long as it's controlled and LEGAL. The problem with your analogy is that Israel isn't proposing throwing out any LEGAL citizens. They're certainly not proposing to take their property, collect them in labor camps and exterminate them. The point at which someone should be deported is when they illegally enter the country. This is the problem here in the US; proper enforcement of existing laws.
