In addition to the utter barbarity of the crime, one of the most frightening aspects is that this man appeared perfectly normal to everyone who knew him, and there was no indication of domestic abuse or other violent behavior on his part. Not only that, but presumably in order to be hired as a prison guard, he would have been subject to a reasonably thorough investigation...or maybe not. But it's the kind of thing that makes you question how many people are walking around seeming perfectly sane...yet all the while they might be potentially violent psychopaths.

Secularism has nothing to do with it. There are many people in Israel and abroad who are secular...some of them are even atheists, who, in a million years, could never even imagine lopping somebody's head off. We don't need God. We live by the Golden Rule...it's very simple.
