1. the new Nazis
Sam ,   Texas   (05.28.12)
Hamas publicly states it will never recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Therefore, peace agreements with Arabs have a foundation of sand. But, the disproportionate burden for peace is placed on Israel by the rest of the world. Israel is forced to play the charade of seeking peace with unreliable opponents. Therefore, giving up land and rights of settlement by Jews in exchange for peace, is a siren song to destruction at the hands of present day Nazis
2. Accurate and timely article
William ,   Israel   (05.28.12)
right on the heels of another article which showed how Leftists often aid despots and war criminals by pacifying democracies at home...exactly what many Leftist groups in Europe and the US did at the time, and are doing today.
3. Let's not forget that God Himself is controlling the history
Jouko ,   Finland   (05.28.12)
So we should think why this and this has happened? Also the terrorists and terrorist countries in the end will get their punishment! What man sows, that he will also reap. But why God many times use those barbaric nations and barbaric rulers? What is His purpose? Aren't there in the Bible many examples how egyptians, philistian, midianites etc. oppressed the Israeli people?
4. Must learn from 30's
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (05.28.12)
It is a very important article...It needs to be published everywhere as a reminder of history, repeating itself...Though hitler succeded to almost completely "clean" Europe of Jews, did the innihilation of European Jewry, save Europe and made it more progressive or better in any way ? The facts are speaking for themselves..The murderred Jews of Europe are now replaced with the double number of our so-called "brothers"...Why would they want to support the Jewish State ? But just as WE survived hitler, WE will overcome these "major elements" in doday deligitimization", too... Thank You, Manfred Gerstenfeld...
5. Respectfully, Dr. Gerstenfeld
Steve from Raleigh   (05.28.12)
This is not appeasement. This is open and fervent cooperation. The views of European governments is no different from that of the fascist governments in occupied Europe during the war.
6. The most juicy UN Crimes:
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (05.28.12)
1. No UN Reso of the worst crime in the UN's history: the multi-state Arab attack against a UN established state in 1948, with a declared goal of genocide, and perpetrated after the attacking Islamic states actually voted in the UN Motion. 2. Calling a 3-state in Palestine as a 2-state. 3. Not aligning Jewish refugees from Arab states the same rights as Muslims - eve when the UN archives say the Jewish refugees were greater than the combined Arab refugees.
7. Most of Europe
Daniel Berg   (05.28.12)
Most of Europe is virulently anti-semitic - the pogroms, inquisitions & holocaust that killed millions of Jews were all carried out in Europe. Dont forget Haj Amin Husseini and the Muslim SS Divisions in WWII. And Catherine Ashton is a typical pro-muslim, anti-semitic European. The Americans also (especially under Obama) are also unreliable. They wont do anything unless it benefits them. In WWII they kept silent during the Holocaust and entered the war only when Japan attacked them. Thats why Israel should not depend on anyone and ensure their own survival.
8. talk, talk, talk....
les ,   canada   (05.28.12)
lots of very smart people analyzing the issue to death. in reality, europe is over ran by muslims, of whom must be pacifyd by the "host" nations so they won't turn against them. the only way to pacify muslims is to show hatered of jews. but there is one HUGE difference now. there is no nation on earth can get away with what deranged hitler did.....without paying the ultimate price!
9. deja vu?
me   (05.28.12)
superiority, racism, propaganda, hate and war, lords and servants, kings and slaves. The same old story......
10. Poland... Vichy exterminated France Jewish population
Miron ,   USA   (05.28.12)
and yesterday Le Monde was teaching Russia word "Shoah". Speaking of "ideals of Western world" lost on ... lower people.
11. @6 want UN subsistance? Another... Nobel Prize laureate...
Miron ,   USA   (05.28.12)
12. Don Quijote's fight against the windmills
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (05.28.12)
Israeli government must establish a central propaganda ministry, to deal with the challenge, the delegitimization of the State of Jews. Such articles like this has no real effects, an internationally circulated newspaper is necessary with an internet website on a dozen languages. Allegedly jews are talent peoples in journalism, let us see how to change the world opinion to Israel's side.
13. If an International Tribunal
Sagi   (05.28.12)
was set up, consisting of nine judges from various countries, and each one with outstanding credentials in International Law, and they were allowed to summon witnesses at their discretion, and were able to consider all legal and binding documentation recorded and archived over the last 130 years pertaining to The "Palestine/Israel question". Based on jurisprudence they would eventually declare Israel's right to sovereignty and at the same time they would have no alternative but to expose the Arab narrative, which has been and still is, a mountain of lies. I repeat, based on hard evidence and jurisprudence.
14. Barack Husein Obama is proof we've learned nothing
BH ,   Iowa   (05.29.12)
BHO is the 21st century Neville Chamberlain.
15. Appeasing tyrants & hating Jews is the European way.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.29.12)
Not to paint all Europeans with the same brush. However, overall, appeasing tyrants and hating Jews is the European way. Many Europeans seem to absorb it with their mothers' milk. Just an unfortunate historic reality. One Israel must always take into consideration.
16. point well taken, except by politicians
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (05.29.12)
Appeasement only wets the appetite of dogs and dictators. We must learn to stand firm and educate the public of this danger.
17. Putting lipstick on a pig...
Sam ,   UK   (05.29.12)
...never works. No amount of PR can change the fact that Israel is occupying people who don't want to be occupied. Nor can it change the suffering the Palestinians endure because of Israeli roadblocks, walls, arrests without trials, attacks on their infrastructure, boycotts, etc.. Note: Israeli actions do not justify terrorism by Palestinians (this goes without saying when discussing this issue with normal people, but ynet posters are kind of 'special'.) Until the occupation ends, most in the world will continue to look upon Israel unfavorably. Of course when the occupation ends (and it will) there will still be people who hate Israel, but these people will be marginalised to the point of insignificance (I know this truth will go over the heads of most here.) Oh yeah, having thousands and thousands of arrogant, irrational, racist, ungrateful and hyper-nationalistic Israelis post their rubbish on Internet talkboards doesn't much help Israel's image, either.
18. The problem is the Jews
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.29.12)
The problem is the Jews. Ariel Sharon bravely said that the fate of Netzarim will be the fate of Tel Aviv and proclaimed that Israel will not be Czechoslovakia. A few months later, Sharon's extreme-Left government violently ethnically cleansed 10000 Jews from their homes and installed Hamas in Gaza. Worse, despite the indisputable failure of the Oslo "peace process", many Israelis (especially the corrupt elite and politicians) still attack Zionist Jews, try to build an Arab apartheid state in Judea and Samaria, and support the Fatah terror organization.
19. To the "Prophet" Sam, #17.
Steven ,   Rockville, MD. USA   (05.29.12)
Israel did not start the war in 1948, 1967, 1973 etc., but responded to it, just like Britain was forced to respond to the Nazi aggression. Compared to pre-WWII, Europe today has more Nazis. The way they did not disappear as in your prophetic pronouncement, the haters of the Jewish people will not disappear but they will multiply. I do not know where to pit you, are you a Chamberlain a useful weakling, or just a malicious closet pretender?
20. Sam Any of Israel not "occupation" to peace loving Pals?
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (05.29.12)
Not according to the maps of the "moderate" PA while Hamas does not even bother with talking out of both sides of their mouths. The "occupation" did not just happen. It could have ended several times over if the Pals only wanted their own state, not Israels state.Clinton amongst others made that clear. Tell that to the intellectually superior & smug lefties who tell Israel to "just make peace" from their armchairs thousands of miles from the front lines. What advice are the same preachers giving Turkey or China etc? Neither Cyprus or Tibet want to destroy or take over Turkey or China. On the other hand millions of Arabs are encouraged to believe they will move, not into a future Palestinian state but into Israel. To put it mildly the obsession of the self annointed humanitarians with Israel,is suspicious. Any BDS of Turkey amongst the intelligencia? See what I mean?
21. Yeah!
Anshel ,   Toronto, Canada   (05.29.12)
The author hit the nail in the head. Unfortunately, we forget and allow the history to repeat.
22. Gerstenfeld is correct
rivkah f. ,   Jerusalem   (05.30.12)
Czechoslovakia gave up land and got no peace. Same here. Every withdrawal from territory results in Palestinians having places to launch rockets against us. And Europe and the U.S. want us to do what Czechoslovakia did and keep up the fiction of a peace process. Nothing new under the sun ...
23. Steve I agree with you. without any doubt
martin ,   uk   (05.30.12)
