6. thats not the medal he should be getting
zionist forever   (05.28.12)
He is certainly worthy of this medal but its Erdogan who should be giving him this medal considering he gave up his dream and may lose some of his fingers so he could save a Turkish climber. Erdogan if you had any honor you would send a fly this man to Turkey first class and personally award him a medal.
7. HE MORE THAN DESERVES IT
DA URBAN POET ,   SAFED OPERA HOUSE   (05.28.12)
Nadav is a real mensch and a hero ,G-d bless him .
8. This man
anton ,   istanbul   (05.28.12)
shows too much humility for an israeli :) regardless he deserve friendship would gladly call him a friend number 6 dont get me wrong but for erdogan to do that you need to save at least 8 more turks lives as well, then you can havea say over what to do or not untill that time its all noise you make ;)
9. Absolutely
Adam Neira ,   Paris, France   (05.28.12)
Yes, Nadav Ben-Yehuda absolutely deserves the official recognition. Courageous acts of sacrifice and trust building in risky circumstances and at literal and metaphorical high altitudes deserve the utmost praise.
10. we give medals for saving lives arabs for taking lives

Oh, we've saved lots more than that. Have you forgotten when the Turkish air force mistakenly bombed its own naval vessel in 1974? It was Israelis that pulled the hapless Turkish sailors out of the water. I guess it slipped your mind. That's understandable enough -- who on earth wants to remember when their country's air force bombs their country's naval vessel? LOL! Quite a military you've got there, Anton!
12. Hero? You bet!
Dan ,   Miami, USA   (05.29.12)
Let's see, hiker risks his life and health to save another. And perhaps more importantly, gives his country tremendous publicity with regard an ally turned adversary. This story is more about two hikers, it's about two countries.

This is very typical Israeli / Jewish behavior. This is why during the big Marmara earthquake many Israelis rushed to help - a fact that you forgot - Similarly Israelis were in Haiti and many other places at times of disasters. In fact Israel even offered to help Iran during the big Earthquake years ago which Iran refused.

I have to say that was a very funny/witty comment. not that i agree, i think both Israel and Turkey have done more than enough good for each other to stop such pointless fighting. But besides that, i must say that i really enjoyed your comment. bravo
15. and Turkey is also recognizing his valor?
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (05.29.12)
Turkey should show some sort of thanks for saving the life of its citizen, they are after all, civilized after all, aren't they?
16. Peres is just trying to kiss Erdogan's rear end

Don't hold your breath, dear. Turkey to this day refuses to acknowledge the massacre of over one million Armenians. They deny what is being done to the Kurdish people in Turkey. I don't see them acknowledging the heroism of Nadav Ben-Yehuda, who may lose his fingers because he slowed his descent to come to the aid of his Turkish friend. I guess Turkey isn't civilized after all.

Obsessive ,   Turkey   (05.29.12)
#18, Motek, For your other comment, Naval accidents are normal during war times :-) (USS Liberty) Thanks for Israeli help for Guven Erkaya. Why did you kill Kurdish PKK, Armenian ASALA and Arab PLO "freedom fighters" at the Bekaa Valley. Once they were sleeping, eating, training together. Why? Why did you share the paper loots with us? Read the history of founding fathers of Israel and Mossad. How many words of "Istanbul & Turkey" inside? #15 Erdogan will think pros and cons between his VOTERS, Israeli hero Nadav, and American! Aydin Irmak. Definetely he will calculate the result with calm civilized manner...with the small solar calculator in his pocket.

We are talking of one Israeli saving a one Turk. Regarding arrogance example let see: 1. Erdogan asking for apology to Israel. 2. Erdogan asking for apology to Armenia. 3. Erdogan vetoed Israel to OTAN over the terrorists. 4. Erdogan vetoed the EU over the membership. 5. Erdogan insisting islamic countries into the OTAN so there will be a possibility to attack Israel at any time. 6. Erdogan is burrying Turkey under his wing. 7. Turkey is the second force in OTAN because of his military but not because of his ideology. Anton, there are more reason to consider Turkey arrogance. By the way did not know that Haj Mohammed Effendi Amin el-Husseini as known as Grand Mutfi of Jerusalem, leader of the Arab Legion, that made a pact with hittler was in the ottoman army?

The bombing of the USS LIBERTY was not an accident. It was quite deliberate, because the USS LIBERTY was relaying the contents of Israeli military communications to the Syrian and Jordanian military high commands. I don't know that I would classify the Turkish invasion of Cyprus as "war." That was an exercise in shooting fish in a barrel. Turkey should be ashamed. And even against a poorly defended Cyprus, the Turkish air force failed to distinguish a Turkish naval vessel from all the fishing vessels. Perhaps you need pilots with better vision. I think you are confusing Israeli troops with Syrian troops. They are the ones who went after the terrorist groups in the Beka'a Valley. Probably wanted to corner the hashish market for themselves. I really don't care how good a fair-weather friend Turkey may once have been to Israel; I know what it is now. Turkey hitched its wagon to the wrong star, bubbeleh.
22. #19 obsessive
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (05.29.12)
You said it yourself. When it comes to an Israeli saving the life of a Turk He is an American citizen threrfore no need for Erdogan to recognize. When it comes to a IHH terrorist of Turkish descent but USA citizen, whi was breaking laws by trying to enter restricted waters and attacking the Israeli soldiers then For Erdogan he becomes a Turk. Very convenient, isn't it.?
23. #22
Obsessive ,   Turkey   (05.29.12)
Chameleon's tongue quite long and changing color every second. In his nature. Peace.
24. #8 but you show just enough arrogance and ignorance
William ,   Israel   (05.29.12)
for a Turk :-P
25. #19 - PLO are hardly "freedom fighters"
William ,   Israel   (05.29.12)
yet all agree that whether they hold a gun or not at the exact moment of being targeted, they are legitimate targets per law and Israel was justified in hitting them. What is not justified is the Turkish and PLO targeting of civilians then claim it was "self-defense". No law, except some convoluted racist Sharia law, justifies that.
