Quick negotiations are no good to career diplomats.The process has to be dragged out as long as possible,for ever if possible.It's good money in the meantime and a good pension at the end.We saw this with George Mitchell and we see it with Tony Blair.
These people don't care a hoot how much harm they do.They can get well out of the way when they retire.

If I hadn't pressed the wrong key after typing the subject,my #7 would have read along these lines:
"If I were to simply shake the hand of a mendacious racist like Jalili I'd feel filthy.Yet,here we have Ashton dressing to please him and smirking like a cat with the cream.I feel that his must show something about Ashton's personality and is disgusting."
