1. The State must make an example of them
Maurice Solovitz ,   London UK   (05.30.12)
The only way to stop this sort of desecration is to find the culprits and throw them in jail under every possible law that can be found to apply, Take the cost of repair out of their property and salary they receive for the rest of their life (ves) and make sure that any sentence is consecutive not concurrent. If it is an ultraorthodox attack it must be made clear that for the secular community a red line has been crossed.
2. Charge the perpetrators for the damage
R ,   Israel   (05.30.12)
If and when the perpetrators are found, I suggest they be charged for the damage they caused.
3. More morality from the ultra orthdox

4. Reply # 2 - its our tax money
Haim ,   TA   (05.30.12)
Its all very well charging the culprits ( ultra orthadox) but any fines they pay out comes from their social security which is funded by the Israeli tax payer. A prison sentence of 20 years would be more appropriate.
5. Shul
Sane ,   Manchester   (05.30.12)
If it was religious people it could not have been very learned ones, as this is halachacly a shul that they vandalised. and #1 the secular community have to have it made clear to them that digging up graves is far, far worse than destroying antiquities.
6. Savagery

How can -anybody- do something like this and still live with themselves? Is it a lack of education? Or an absence of a moral compass? Or both, perhaps? How angry must a person be? Shocking!
