31. #14: who's problem?
jerusalem   (05.30.12)
If you dont want to speak about 'illegals': What about the ones who are citizens/residents of israel that go through the same thing (you can read the post I sent just now to #12 and see what Im talking about)? The international community should put pressure on countries for a lot of reasons, including israel for a lot of things, but sadly, it doesnt-so whats your point? Technically, these are 'residents' whether you want to admit it or not, fyi. In addition to Palestinians being occupied, israel controls the land, air and sea space of the same territories it it trying to wash its hands of and 'cant seem' to do. Its like the little engine who could-trying to make having your cake and eating it too work, lol
32. @14 Israeli problem too
Michael ,   Jerusalem   (05.30.12)
With all due respect, honor crimes are an still an Israeli problem as well, you simply don't hear about it as much but it does occasionally happen. Furthermore, up until more recent times, the courts accepted the motive for an honor crime, placing it into the category of a crime of passion and thus granting some leniency to the offender (Until a decade or two ago?) The reason I know this is because I asked my professor of Muslim Law regarding this phenomena in Israel. Furthermore, the PA shows great leniency with these crimes (I've read before a brother that murdered his sister this way received something like 18 months in prison). Whereas in Jordan, a special police unit exists to combat this problem. Israel must take in this woman and restrain those who seek to murder her, not only for our national character but to send a message to any other potential murder under our sovereignty that this will not be tolerated.
33. She's a TRUE asylum seeker
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (05.30.12)
Not for economic reasons , not to have a better life here . Only to be able to LIVE and not be murdered .

(05.30.12)
Funny how you turn around this article to your own propaganda. Maybe it's the ugly face of the Arab (Palestinian) mentality and society that brought you your misfortune. The barbarism, violence, lack of humanity.

Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (05.30.12)
who are being threatened by honor killings? I wonder how many millions of muslim women face this dilemma? Women who are muslims face this horror each day. Talk of human rights abuses!!! This takes the cake.

Beary White ,   Norway   (05.30.12)
45. Stop "honor" killings!!!
David Eli ,   Israel   (05.30.12)
There can be no peace with Arab Muslims until there's an end to "honor" killings - peace begins at home!
46. Yes
Darius   (05.30.12)
help her to stay in Israel.Once she knows she can't be deported she is going to join her Arab brothers and sisters in condemning the apartheid state of Israel. It's everywhere the same in the West once they know they can stay they start complaining about the "racist" and "islamophobic" behavior of the hosts.Nothing new!
47. @9, earn your stay (I agree)
Alex ,   Canada   (05.30.12)
@9. I agree with you about her doing tours world wide and making people aware of honor killing to fight this pre-medival social disease that is still plaging many arab and some other eastren communites. People who connect their honor to realtionships between men and women will NEVER EVER make it to be a civilized nation. By the way, I am palestinian from the west bank who left to North America 11 years ago and never went back. This honor garbage still happnes mainly in some Palestinian villages.
48. #17 - she doesn't look old enough to be from 1948
William ,   Israel   (05.30.12)
therefore she could never claim its her homeland. She was born in the West Bank, in a non-sovereign entity that most likely was still contested by Jordan at her birth, and therefore probably holds Jordanian citizenship. Her homeland is thus Amman, not Israel. (no such thing as "Jewish Palestine"). You don't have to be Jewish to pledge loyalty to the State of Israel, which is the Jewish State. Just as you do not have to be Muslim to pledge loyalty to the Islamic Republic of Iran where it's not only suggested, but demanded.
49. #18 - her country is Jordan, her place of birth is
William ,   Israel   (05.30.12)
non-sovereign West Bank. That's the only place she can go and has a right to go unless a 3rd party country makes an offer of asylum. You have no right to make a determination on what another country, Israel, should do especially since you ignore both our legitimate right to exist on our homeland AND our legitimate (and current) right to Jerusalem, a traditional Jewish city and our capital. With all due respect to her, the real problem is your population's willingness to kill each other for false pride.
50. #39 - Israel doesn't have a constitution
William ,   Israel   (05.30.12)
but we do have laws which enshrine the equality and rights of its citizens. However, those rights are not extended to NON-CITIZENS, namely you which I assume is a legal resident with an Israeli ID card and not a citizen. You do know what that means when final borders are drawn, right? Try arguing your point in court just before your moved back to Ramallah (or Amman) and see how it works. Only those born inside Israeli State areas, or newborns of Israeli citizens are afforded citizenship. But you both can relish the fact that you have "Palestinian" citizenship, probably with a very nice looking passport, which both are worth as much as a book of stickers for children.
51. 9
john Darren ,   cairns-Austraalia   (05.31.12)
I agree with your post but how practical is it?
52. # 9 Ellen,your idea will double the reason
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (05.31.12)
for her family to kill her, would you like her to join the IDF ?. by asking for asylum in Israel she did more for Israel's PR than the spokes people of the foreign office.
